I had an exceptional shopping experience at Ann Taylor in Marlton, Nj. The fall selection of clothing and accessories were well stocked. The sales associate, Lena guided me through the clothing that look right on my body type, making suggestions on size and style. During this transition season between summer and autumn, I have been able to create outfits that incorporated the pieces Lena suggested along with items from my closet. Zero stars, if that were an option The AT store in Marlton, NJ just cost the company a loyal customer. I've been shopping at AT for YEARS! Not anymore. I was in the store for approximately 30 minutes. The store was not crowded at all (there was exactly 1 other customer at one point. The two salespersons both happily chatted with her). I received ZERO customer service; I literally sifted through stacks of pants looking for my size (I was not even in the sales section, so there was no excuse for having to sift), and helped myself to a fitting room, only to finally make it to the checkout counter where the cashier still could not be bothered to greet me or even look me in the eye. At that point I told her I was not purchasing anything and explained to her exactly why. She still did not greet me or apologize but stood there looking like a cross between dumbfounded and unbothered. I told her I've been in that exact store dozens of times and have never been ignored like that. Good bye AT! I don't do poor customer service. There are far too many retail options for that. ~ A once loyal customer Updated 11/21/17: I alerted AT's corporate offices about the experience. They were apologetic and forwarded my concern to the regional VP, district manager and store manager. The store manager and district manager have since reached out. They were very professional and highly apologetic and assured me they will address this with the store associates. The only reason I didn't give this store 1 star is because it looked really nice, was organized, and had nice clothes. Getting right to the point- I went here to return pants that I got for Christmas. I walked up to the first woman I saw and asked if they had them in stock because I loved them and just wanted a different size. She looked at me like I was crazy, kind of brushed me off and walked me to a rack of clothes with the pants I had in my hand. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and figured that she was new and nervous. I ended up not wanting the pants, but I found a different shirt to get. I went to the cash register and there was a younger (very nice) girl there that helped me. She must have been there a day or two so didn't know exactly what to do because my return was a little after the 45 day deadline. The woman behind her was shadowing and not really helping her, but did tell her to take her time (which was about the only nice thing she said). The older woman scoffed at the new girl that she couldn't figure out what to do. After playing around with the computer a little she said that -Since my pants wouldn't scan they said that the online store and physical store were two totally different entities- and once it is over the return time limit they couldn't do anything. I asked nicely if there was any way that they could give me a store credit since I had my receipt and was going to purchase another shirt anyways. The older woman went to the back to ask the manager. The manager then came out of the back and much to my surprise was the woman that looked at me like I had five heads when I first asked for help. She was not friendly at allll to me or her staff. So rude in anything she said. I felt very bad for the new girl that was there. The manager was snapping at her saying she should know these things and that they taught her this at some point (which I highly doubt because the manager kept changing what she was doing) Thankfully I was able to do my exchange but it was after a pretty bad experience. I hope the new girl realizes that these just aren't nice women that are running this store and not her fault! Anne taylor has such nice clothes there and I'm sure a great clientele .. I really don't understand the point of being so rude. I would normally blame this on the manager having a bad day, but I could feel it in the atmosphere that this was not the case. The ann taylor storefronts are disappearing, so are the competence of these sales workers at this store. My prior review gave them four stars for their friendliness and organization. I encountered poor service at this store. The workers give the illusion they want to help you, but when asked for a different size I was told they simply don't carry the size. I checked the rack myself and found the size I requested immediately. Im sorely disappointed for the lack of effort. read more

I went to this store for the first time yesterday with my sister and will never be back. While I was in the fitting room, my brother was publicly shamed by the sales associate for eating a cookie from a tray of cookies that the store had out. The sales associate (from across the store) told him the cookies were for card holders only. There was no sign indicating that, and his response was, I'm sure my wife has a card, to which she responded "she already had a cookie"- apparently she's keeping track of customer cookie consumption - when she should have been assisting in the fitting room. He asked her (jokingly) if he should spit the cookie out, to which she replied "yes". And this is why I shop online. Never again at Ann Taylor. read more

I had a pair of boots I purchased on Sept 30th. I never wore them and they stayed in the box in my closet. A couple of weeks after I purchased them I went to the hospital from a medical condition and was basically out of commission for a month thereafter. Today, Nov 20th I was feeling better and decided to try on the boots indoors to make sure I liked them. I decided they did not feel that comfortable and went to the store today to return them. I explained to the manager what happened and that I had been injured and in the hospital and was not able to return them sooner. She called customer service to verify how much I paid and told me she could only give me store credit because it was over 45 days. ( it was 51 days to be exact, 6 days over) I said that was not ok with me, that they had never been worn and I was unable to return them sooner. I got on the phone with customer service and they said its up to the stores discretion. So, finally I said I have no problem speaking to the district manager and the manager said "Oh, ok, fine, I just want you to know how big of of an exception this is". I left that store feeling upset, as I was treated without human decency when I had explained my situation and the fact that I was simply 6 days over the time limit. I would absolutely not recommend this store. Go to another Ann Taylor location that treats their customers with kindness and respect. read more

I went into this store to find an outfit for that night. I walked in and a employee right away said hello very loud and obnoxious. She said what can I help you with and politely I said No Thank You. I continued to the back of the store and she followed me with an attitude asking questions. This is ridiculous. If I need help I will ask. I can't imagine this is Ann Taylor's "way". So very annoying. I did need help with shoes. I asked another emplyoyee for this help. She was extremely helpful and very nice. She seemed new but was very willing to help and was knowledgeable about clothing. She helped me with exactly what I wanted and checked me out at the register. I would definitely of left the store but because of the wonderful customer service that young girl provided me I found exactly what I needed. She was the reason why I gave 4 stars. By the way ....that employee that so called greeted me was the manager of the store......go figure. read more

I have been a loyal customer of Ann Taylor for almost 20 years. I love the style and quality of their clothing. Almost every piece of work attire I own is from Ann Taylor. I used to love going to their stores to try things on and ask asossiates for advice. But lately I stopped going to the Marlton location because of the poor service at that location. The asossiates are ok but the manager is just terrible. She has no manners and very rude. My last experience there was after the holidays and I wanted to exchange a few pieces that my daughter bought me for Christmas but the manager told me that because they were ordered on line, she could not exchange anything for me so I had to return everything, credit my daughters credit card and then purchase the new pieces and later get the money from my daughter. It looks like when you purchase something on line and then return it to the store it comes out of their sales. What the manager doesn't understand is that now she lost all of my sales because I only shop on line or at other locations. read more
