Based on a recommendation to come here I saw fried chicken and didn't care about anything else. We lucked out because our wait time was only 30 min just past the lunch around 1-2pm. Usual wait time I've heard is over an hour or more. When you walk in the restaurant is to your left where you wait on church pews. Put your name on the list and wait. But the right side of the entrance door is a big space full of locally produced items for sale along with some toys and things. They also have freezers full of their food for sale including desserts and gluten free items. They have fresh butter there as well. The selling point for me was their front aisle full of desserts from cookies to cupcakes to tarts to fresh bread! And their front of store where the cash is; is the gold mine of all the pies you can dream of. It's literally pie heaven and donuts. EVERYTHING is made in house it seems or local for sure. Nothing is mass produced here. So this front of store will keep you occupied until your table is ready. Once you are seated. The menu is small. Average. But it's their best seller the BROASTED chicken. (Broasted chicken is a type of fried chicken cooked in a pressure fryer, which combines pressure cooking with deep frying.) and they have a $25 combo which includes soup/salad and bread, broastech chicken plus side and veggies (corn, mash potatoes, fries, coleslaw) and then dessert included. Any pies/cakes on the menu!! You must try this place out. I will be back most definitely!! It's 30 min west of St Jacob's market. Worth the drive!!!!

Delicious food and worth the wait. I think it's a bit pricey but you leave FULL! Overall nothing bad to review but expect to wait if you arrive before 1:00 pm.

This restaurant and market has been around for a long time but this was my first time stopping in. If you're looking for a delicious and locally made home cooked meal (with adorable amish staff) then this is the place for you. Hot tip: Try to score a seat in the wagon/buggy booth, how cool is that?! The menu is traditional, specializing in warm and hearty meals with the star of the show being the broasted chicken. The portion sizes seem to be fairly large while the prices are reasonable. Besides the chicken, everyone really does come here for the pie, so make sure you save room for that. It does get busy so take note that this is not an 'in-and-out' type of place, but more of a sit down and linger with your company and food type of restaurant. Of course you cannot leave without visiting the attached market which is famous for their beautiful, scrumptious looking pies, other home baked goods, canned items and crafts. I spotted quite a few decor items and gifts I would have loved to find a home for but the only thing that came home with me was some red pepper jelly. Seriously, the willpower! They also have a freezer stocked with "Gluten Conscious Baking" and from what I could see that included cookies, tarts, muffins, pies, bread and rolls. Happiness really is homemade.

A great bakery/restaurant. I only tried the bakery part. Everything was freshly baked and packaged. Cookies, scones, butter tarts, cakes, pies, bread, rolls and so much more. There were isles of canned goods, gifts and maple syrup. There also was a gift store with merchandise. Some of it looks handmade. Everything I bought was so fresh and tasty. The staff were very friendly. There are fun picture ops in the parking lot!

After seeing this place on You Gotta Eat Here I decided to try it out as I was in the area. This place is famous for their broasted chicken so that's what I ordered. I got the small plate which was 2 pieces of chicken, choice of potatoes and veggies. I got the fries and carrots. The food was very good however my only complaint is the skin of the chicken wasn't too crisp. Other than that the chicken itself was good. The 2 piece chicken plate was enough to fill me up. Not bad for just $11.99. The staff working there were all very friendly. I will go again when I'm in the area.

We have decided to come here after watching "You Gotta Eat Here". This place was situated in the middle of nowhere near farmlands, yet you should not be fooled by the location as sometimes the best places were hidden. This place runs as both bakery and restaurant where you had to pass by all those baked goodies before you get to the dining area. We chose to have breakfast here. However, here's why I chose to give it a 3-star: We have sat down for almost 10 mins before a waitress have noticed us and gave us menus. Mind you, it was not that busy as some other customers came at the same time as us and they got served right away. That made me think, is it because of race? Anyway, overall the price of a breakfast was so cheap (less than $10!!!) that make me wanna go there whenever I am on a road trip, but after the service I have experienced, I will have to think twice before coming.

Anna Mae's is a family owned and operated Mennonite Restaurant & Bakery located in Millbank, Ontario. They are really known for their freshly made pies and broasted chicken. It's about a 2 hour drive from Toronto and a 35-40 minute drive from Kitchener, Ontario. I went on a late Saturday afternoon and it was really cool driving to Millbank, Ontario because you are essentially driving through farm country and you will see Mennonites riding on buggies driven by horses on the side of the road. We got to the restaurant and wrote our names on the waiting list, we were quickly seated since we came at an off hour. If you come at a peak hour on the weekend, lineups can be pretty long. It's a popular restaurant. I ordered a regular plate ($10.79 plus tax) which came with a choice of meat, potato, vegetable and a dinner roll. I also added a slice of cherry cheesecake to my order ($3.59 plus tax). I had the broasted chicken as my meat, mashed potatoes with gravy as the potato, corn kernels as my vegetables and a cheese dinner roll. The broasted chicken was fantastic. It's essentially fried chicken but not as oily. You got three pieces of broasted chicken with the regular plate. It had a nice light crispy skin, the meat was juicy, really nicely seasoned and not oily. The mashed potatoes and corn kernels were pretty standard but the star of the meal was the broasted chicken. The slice of cherry cheesecake was really good. It was freshly made with fresh cherries on top, nice flaky crust and a nice light filling. If you are looking to try good Mennonite comfort food and fresh delicious pies made daily. I definitely recommend Anna Mae's Bakery and Restaurant. The prices are pretty reasonable and it's an interesting experience.

Yummy atmosphere and broasted chicken! Got the family meal for $71, feeds 4 very well. 3 pieces of chicken per person, sides, drink and a yummy piece of pie! My favourite is the elderberry pie. Went on a Saturday and it was a 40mg a wait but well worth it.

This place is a definite must they are well-known for their fried chicken make sure you try it if you stop by here. Their prices are very affordable. As you look around in the store all the freezers are packed with pies. Cheesecake is also delicious you can't go wrong with basically anything you eat here!

Not worth the drive to Millbank. Food portions are good but bland. Very highly overrated. Service is mediocre.
