This is not a clinic that wants to help people, this is a money hungry institution!!!!…read moreWent today for some antibiotics for a sinus infection and was examined by a nurse practitioner Kelly, not a doctor. She told me she would not prescribe antibiotics because that is not medical practice anymore....... then told me she would prescribe Fluticasone (nasal spray) and oh if your insurance does not pay for it just take Mucinex. She also wanted me to take two other medications. That is so much better than just taking a dose of antibiotics of course. Now I have side effects from three different medications to deal with. Then I was told if you still feel bad on Thursday come back (pay another co-pay) and I will give you antibiotics. Four days of different medications and then at the end antibiotics anyway. Wow, that makes a lot of sense. She had to leave the room three times to "check" on the medication and with whom? GOOGLE or the real doctor????? Honestly, drive to Summit county if you want real help!

Next I met with Amy the PA. She did a new patient physical including pap and pelvic. She was thorough, professional but what I liked best was she cared! She was so kind, warm and welcoming. She took her time with me, listened and is a wonderful ambassador for Leadville!! Any anxiety I had about going to a new practice, in a new town was squashed. If there were more than 5 stars I'd give it. Best medical experience EVER!!

I wanted to relate my experience from over 2 years ago with the practice, and offer my sincere thank you to the medical professionals that I encountered. In January of 2024, I spent the week skiing with friends. Even at the age of 72, I'm normally acclimated to the altitude within a day or two. However, that year, I found myself out of breath after just a few pitches. I thought I had some type of chest congestion, and made an appointment at Aspen Medical Care. I don't recall the name of the physician who treated me, but almost immediately, after listening to my heart, she decided to hook me up for a quick EKG. She determined that I had A-fib, immediately put me on a blood thinner, and suggested to see a cardiologist as soon as I returned home. Bottom line, after a cardioversion that didn't work, and an ablation that did, I have been A-fib free since then. I attribute my health to that wonderful doctor who treated me that day.

Absolutely the worst medical office that I have ever visited. The front off is rude! You can rarely…read moreever get anyone on the telephone when you call for an appointment. I've been a patient there for three years. Instead of getting better; It continues to get worse. I hurt my hand one weekend. It wasn't bad enough to justify a trip to the E.R. but definitely a visit to the doctor. I call first thing Monday asking for a visit with my doctor or whoever was available. I was told there were no appointments for the next two weeks. I remember receiving an email the following week with the subject line "Same Day Appointments" Here is the entire email. " First Street Family Health would like you to know that we provide same day appointments (not walk-ins). We reserve a portion of our appointments for same day, acute care needs. We book them daily (not in advance), so we can provide our patients access on short notice. We open Monday thru Saturday at 8 am, if an urgent need arises, please call early as appointments fill up fast. " I call back asking for an acute care appointment. The front desk agent was rude! Said we don't have any today it's 9:15 a.m. I asked, okay, how about tomorrow. She placed me on hold, came back, and said, yes, but it's not with Dr. Grant. I said that's fine. Dr. Grants is my normal doctor but that doesn't matter as I had previously stated on my first call. She said it's with their P.A. Again, that is fine. The office assistant stated I do have appointments for tomorrow but I can't give it to you. Their same day, you will have to call tomorrow. WTF!!! How absolutely stupid was this conversation. 1. Why place me on hold to check for an appointment tomorrow. If you are not giving appointments ahead of time why even check to see if there is an appointment available? 2. Why do I even have a primary care physician? If I hurt my hand, leg, etc., and am acute care and can't see my doctor within a day or so for something that is "ACUTE" then why have a primary care doctor. Just go to the Emergency Room for everything. 3. Why send an email stating you have same-day appointments? ABSOLUTELY THE WORST MEDICAL OFFICE! If you are in the Salida Colorado area do yourself a favor. DO NOT USE THIS OFFICE. Yes, I'm only one reviewer. But when this office has 2.9 stars in a small town like Salida, that has to tell you something. Use a bit of common sense and find someone else!

The nurse left me 2 or 3 vmails calling me Lexie?! Not my name! Wtf!? 3. Lost my paperwork, that I needed for work, and made me stand there and wait for 30mins, until they found it. (On a different day, from the first two previous days!) 4. Billed me for a wellness screening that was totally paid for by my place of employment! 5. The Dr. asked me about medications I was taking (and have been taking for years, and that are in my chart) so I was billed for that separately, as I was told it was not part of my physical?!? 6. Charged me a co-pay for a tele health 8 min phone call! Didn't even see a Dr! 7. The front end office people are horribly rude, unorganized, and not helpful! "Health care workers are doing the best that they can, right now." Are they though?! This is their best?! Yikes! Btw, this place was a cluster waaay before covid! I have been taking hormones to manage menopause for years. I have personal trauma that is related to mammograms. However, I have for years done every test they told me to do. The last doctor I saw there last year Dr Haag was great. She understood that at 50 years old I should have some say in my health care and told me just call in for a phone consult when I needed my prescription renewed. I did that last week and they told me she was no long there and I would be required to come in. I explained I was going to run out of pills and asked to get a week or two (again we are not talking barbiturates or some Controlled substance but birth control) I was told someone would call me back. No call. The day of the appointment I waited an hour to speak to people for 8 minutes (this is very common at the clinic) I was then told even though the last doctor said I didn't need it, they would not renew my prescription for even a few days until I got a mammogram. They take weeks or months to schedule here. They had lost also at least two tests I had had at that office. These people are willing to throw my body into menopause and yank me off hormones because they are arrogant and cannot take the time to treat you as an individual. I practically begged for a prescription to get to the mammogram appointment and She just smiled and kept repeating "standard of care" which means every one is just in a box and individuals don't count. It was as if she enjoyed causing me the harm that is going to come from abruptly from something that has worked so well. And all of this was because of bad information their last doctor gave me. Her answer to that was "she is no longer here". Not even "I am sorry but she gave you bad information. L This woman and the clinic staff are just cruel.

I could have gone to other local clinincs but wanted to go to the same physician as my husband. We see Angela Miller & have had terrific service. She has a wide range of experience & handles most all of our health needs. They helped us get my husband into the only Cardiologist in Montrose. When I broke my arm, they saw me right away & were able to do the x-rays there. After the radiologist The fees are very reasonable compared to big city clinics. My 90 year old dad fell while visiting & the also got him right in. His x-ray showed a crack & they put him in a boot that day. It was so much easier than taking him to a physician in Houston. Since my husband is a retired medical professional, we use his professional expertise in evaluating the service of physicians & clinics. Angela Miller is terrific as are all the people we've met at MOUNTAIN MEDICAL like Jodie & others. I saw a complaint on another review about being sent to Montrose. My friend's husband fell while hiking & instead of a simple x-ray on arm or foot like my dad's & mine, he needed a special x-ray for his back & had to go to Montrose. MOUNTAIN MEDICAL is for regular preventative & emergent care but it is not a trauma center. You have to go to an emergency room at hospital for some care. If the staff at MOUNTAIN MEDICAL thought a child or adult needed more care than they could give, I see nothing wrong with sending the patient to Montrose. I also saw a complaint about prescriptive sleep aids. Since my husband's office had to prescribe Class 2 Narcotics & the addictive Benzodiazapams, they were scrupulously careful about refills. Every refill has to be evaluated by medical necessity; the staff has no choice but to inquire if the reason for the prescription still exists. The DEA & the state have strict regulations about substances considered addictive. I understand that sometimes the insurance of a patient will NOT allow a refill before the 1st day of the next month & providers are forced to go by all regulations which have tightened in the last years. If I thought the professionals at MOUTAIN MEDICAL weren't doing a good job of keeping me in my needed medicines, I would be willing to drive the 60 mile round trip to Montrose to get care instead of griping. The physicians & practice can be sued by patient families & have their licenses pulled if they are not following the latest anti-addictive regulations by Colorado, the DEA & the Federal Government. I know it is a hassle; even those with broken ribs or chronic conditions have to get re-certified for refills of addicted substances. That is not the fault of the dedicated professionals of MOUNTAIN MEDICAL. I am so pleased with the care we've received for our whole family the last 2 years. They care about the patients & the community. We are so blessed to have them in Ouray County. I hope the voters realize this & vote to restore the tiny bit of funding they get from the county to keep the clinic open & keep us from having to drive to Montrose for EVERYTHING instead of just Cardiologists & Pulmonologists.
