Unfortunately my Mom did fracture her wrist and elbow in the fall, but Dr. Beim was able to set the wrist nicely and give her a soft cast and pain med recommendations so she could be setup well as she waits to get surgery at home. There was no wait anytime along the way, and everyone was very kind to my poor Mom. Thanks guys!

We sought a second opinion from Dr. Dorf. Now, Dr. Dorf is a straightforward guy - about as straightforward as they come - but he is also a professional and he didn't bash the previous doctor, but the look of complete puzzlement by this previous diagnosis was difficult for him to hide. He felt he could give immediate relief with a cortisone shot - which he administered himself. The previous doctor told us that even with his 35 years of experience he couldn't get a shot in the right place without ultrasound guidance. Dr. Dorf didn't have this issue. He was confident he could get it in the right place - and he did. Again, the puzzlement was difficult to hide - but no bashing. ;-) After reviewing the MRI provided by Panorama (the same MRI the previous doctor used for his diagnosis) he gave us the opinion that he could scope her shoulders and give her years of less pain and he did not feel that replacement was something that should even be on our radar. She had bone spurs, partially torn rotator cuffs, arthritis, scar tissue. Dr. Dorf "clobbered" the spurs, fixed the cuffs, took out the biceps tendon and cleaned up the rest. Why couldn't the other doctor do that? Perhaps skill has something to do with it. What a difference. Our original diagnosis was disturbing to say the least, but i guess when all you have is a nail, the answer is always a hammer. Dr. Dorf is on a whole different level. To put it bluntly, this guy knows his shit and isn't afraid to do the right thing for his patient - even if that requires some stern advice on recovery from time to time. Additionally his support staff is awesome. Annie in particular was so great. She called us promptly every time we had questions and didn't mess around when it came to making sure my wife was taken care of in the best way possible. My wife also had trapeziectomy on both of her thumbs. the result is 2 thumbs, way up! If you go to Dr. Dorf prepare yourself for great care, great advice and counseling, and most of all - great confidence that the right thing is being done by the right people. Hopefully Dr. Dorf lives forever because we plan to, and we will never use another orthopedic doctor. Thanks Doc. :-)

If you have ANY other choice in who you visit, take that option for your own sake. I'd hate for anyone to be in the position that I've been put in as a result of their incompetence and unprofessionalism. From waiting months on end to get an mri approval, constant feet dragging, incorrect diagnosis, and even blatant refusal to send further imaging orders, they have let me down every step of the way. I was told there was a 97% recovery rate for my condition and that I'd be back to rock climbing and sports in a number of months. However, both the 1st and 2nd surgeries performed by Dr. Paul Abbot completely failed. My strength and mobility plummeted 80% after my treatment at this facility. I was in FAR better health prior to walking into VSON. They ruined my body. Another surgeon did his best to clean it up a couple years later. He gave me some improvement, but 13 years later I am in crippled agony. I've called a few times over the years to plead for some consideration to my outcomes, but they do not care for that. They are of course happy to see me again, restart the process, and give me another enormous bill, but there is no real sympathy or concern shown for how they ruined my athleticism and left me with chronic lifelong pain at the age of 22. Imagine paying tens of thousands of dollars for this outcome. It genuinely keeps me up at night. That and the pain. Maybe their new doctors are better, but don't be fooled when they say they care about you.

I broke a bone and needed to be seen immediately. I was in Aspen on vacation. I went to my…read moreinsurance company's website to find an in-network doctor. Dr. Pevny was shown as in-network. I called his office and made an appointment with him. When I arrived, I was seen by someone else. I was seen by many people actually. I met Dr. Pevny on my way out of the business. The physicians assistant who saw me is not an in-network provider. I am now expected to pay the entire bill because it is out of network. I have tried since January to resolve this problem with the doctors office and they refuse to call me back. A patient should not be expected to walk around a doctors office and ask everyone who sees them whether or not they are in-network, when the patient made an appointment with the doctor himself and he is listed as in-network on the insurance company website. I have tried for five months to resolve this problem with Dr. Pevny's office. No one has bothered to call me back. On top of this, right after I was seen, I called to request a copy of my x-rays. No one called me back for that either. I do not live in Aspen and I cannot go to this business and resolve this problem in person. For this reason they get two stars. I cannot imagine what would've happened had I needed help from them immediately after visiting the office. I'd still be waiting. How the doctors office treats you is part of the care that you get. If they are not interested in helping their patients you should not do business with them.

I called Dr. Singh's office to ask about an appointment in which I could have some odd sensations and pains around my shoulders and arms and lower neck examined. The receptionist told me that Dr. Singh did not deal with patients who had "neck problems". I asked her how I could tell if I had "neck problems" as he defined it. However, she had not been trained in answering this question. As a result, she suggested that I either risk wasting my time by waiting two weeks to see Dr. Singh, who might simply refer me to another doctor with an even longer wait time, or that I see the other doctor in one month. The other doctor required a full MRI, I was told. I asked if Dr. Singh could speak with me on the phone for five minutes so as to listen to my description (e.g., I did rupture a disk near my neck years ago) and advise me on how to waste less time and money. E.g., "Yes, that sounds like a neck problem as I define it," etc. The receptionist said "He won't do that." I explained to the receptionist the unnecessary bind this put me in and asked her to pass the information on to the doctor. She said she would do so. I have no knowledge of whether she actually did so; I never got a call back from anyone at the office.

Dr Singh did a total knee replacement and I never got functional. I am active and in my 50's. After…read more13 months of getting no where, I went to Chicago. They did a CT scan (why didn't Singh?) and found that the implant was not put in properly. I had to have the entire surgery redone in Chicago. It was difficult and expensive. I have not walked without a cane or crutch this entire time. I ended up with bleeding and pain. I am getting better with the new surgery, what a difference! And how would one know if it was your first? I DO NOT recoemmend Dr Singh.

Had shoulder surgery done by Tito Liotta. He said after 2 months it should have felt better. But…read moreit didn't. So he said, "Well, I guess I'll just have to go back in there." Just like that. Now you have to understand that shoulder surgery is extremely painful and extremely difficult to recover from. You spend 8 weeks with the arm immobilized after surgery and you have to "sleep" sitting upright. The there's another 3 months of physical therapy at the least. It's not a trifling experience, not to mention the expense. He was arrogant, with the typical surgeon's "god complex," and got pissed off at me when I told the receptionist I had to return to work after being delayed an entire hour waiting for him, when he was later for my appointment. Then I went to a different surgeon, who looked at my MRIs and came up with a completely different diagnosis and fixed my shoulder-the first time. Don't go to Liotta. If you're getting orthopedic work done in Colorado, go to Steadman and get it done right by people who really know what they're doing.
