    Kimchi pajeon (pancake)
    Rebecca C.

ABSOLUTE LIFE HACK. Do yourself a favor and grab your whole lunch here. I promise it'll be less expensive than eating at a restaurant, and you'll get a freshly made (legit that morning) meal. Everything is amazing, you actually can't go wrong with anything you pick up. The Banchans are incredibly fresh, well seasoned, just all around perfect. We had the kimchi pajeon (pancakes), SO GOOD. We took two dduks (rice cakes) to go, the kind with injulmi powder around them and the kind with beans in them - so fresh and chewy. And the kimbap is a classic! Definitely will be back for lunch again!

I ordered dishes that i couldn't possibly make. We ordered for my father's 80th birthday and everyone was impressed with how delicious was.

I ordered their catering for a baek-il for 15 people, and they were fantastic!! Annandale catering is the absolute best. This is our go-to catering spot! I placed the order in person 1 week before the event. We are vegetarians and ordered a bunch of vegetarian dishes and rice cakes. The prices are all so reasonable and the food was all amazing! My Korean mother was so impressed at how delicious everything was and is obsessed with their kimchi. Their food is super fresh, not too salty, and flavorful! Also, I speak limited Korean and had no problems placing the order in English. Here's what we got for catering: -Japchae: they have some of the best japchae around! The noodles are so soft and they are so flavorful! The veggies are super fresh. I can eat their japchae every day! A tray of it is $30, which is very reasonable for how much you get. - veggie fried rice: this was also delicious! A tray of it was also $30 - kimchi jeon: we got a big tray for $30 and it's also sooo good!! - gimbap: I love their gimbap!! It's among the best I have had. They also made it vegetarian for us and omitted the crab meat. It's $6 a roll - boiled tofu- wow!! Sooo amazingly flavorful!! So much better than the tofu you get at h mart or a lot of other restaurants. Also $30 a tray - kimchi: tastes amazing! They have the best kimchi I have tasted in the DMV area. It's really fresh, not too fishy or sour. This was $30 for a large tray - rice cakes/dduk: amazing! The rice cakes are so fresh, soft, and flavorful! They have my favorite rice cakes with mungbean filling. So overall, we LOVE Annandale catering! It is Korean mom approved! And some of my friends were eating some of these Korean dishes for the first time and really enjoyed it! The customer service is also great! Communication was clear and it was very quick and easy to pick up our order.

    Pumpkin jook and abalone jook
    Jackie B.

Whenever a family member gets sick, I never think of getting them chicken noodle soup. Instead, this is the first place I go to pick up some tasty jook (rice porridge). My family's favorites are the hobbak jook (pumpkin porridge) and the jeonbok jook (abalone porridge). I've never had such flavorful porridge anywhere else! I always warm up a bowl for myself even though I SHOULD be saving it all for the one coughing like there's no tomorrow. You buy the jook in plastic tubs (same ones you get take-out soup in) of small and large sizes. The small tubs are around $4-$5 and the larger ones *see pic* around $7-$8. The jook is really the only thing I come here for, but I have grabbed some kimbap and dduk (rice cakes) for the drive back and they're also very good. I can't vouch for the taste of the banchan (side dishes) or other pre-made items they have, but it is super convenient to have them all prepared, packaged and ready to eat! This place is tucked away near the post office and behind the Suntrust and Wells Fargo banks. It's the corner store in that small strip.

I don't know why this place has less than 4 stars rating. The pork katsu I had was delicious and crispy for a reasonable price

The food was absolutely delicious, with a wide variety of flavorful options that truly pleased the crowd. The presentation and overall setup were beautiful and added an elegant touch to the event. Chef Darryl was professional, organized, and a pleasure to work with throughout the entire process. The pricing was very reasonable, and he even offered a wonderful tasting prior to signing the contract, which gave us great confidence in our decision. To consider this a legitimate "business" is laughable, just like their food. Arrived over an hour…read morelate to an event and instead of being apologetic, had an attitude. Dinner was for 25 + people and there was barely enough food for 12. Not that this mattered, as EVERYTHING was inedible and there were no plates, cutlery or napkins provided. I take that back, the store brought $2.00 (price still on) cornbread and $16.00 cake were the ONLY items edible. The Mac and Cheese was dry and bland. I will give them credit for it being both overcooked and undercooked all in the same batch. I'm still trying to make sense of that! The only adjective that even remotely describes this Mac and Cheese is "disrespectful". Like, seriously, the disrespect was 10/10. The chicken was undercooked and bland. How do you make jerk chicken bland and soggy? I'm actually curious. The "blackened" salmon was overcooked yet not blackened, creating another "make it make sense" moment. I immediately spat out the greens. They were undercooked, not under-seasoned but literally "not seasoned". Wait, I take that back too, if you count the dirt and grit as seasoning. They should be ashamed of themselves for ripping people off. Pictures don't lie. The fact that they were sent pictures and still stood behind their product tells you all you need to know. Please, please, PLEASE do not let these people ruin your event and more importantly your special moments and memories. There are so many other respectable and legitimate Black-owned catering companies i.e. Ohhs and Ahhs, Henry's, Hitching Post.

We reached out very early on in the planning process and spoke with Diego about our preferences for the menu and ideal price point. He was very understanding--particularly of our desire to keep a tight budget--and prompt to schedule a tasting for us. As soon as the tasting finished, we knew we would sign with TYTC for everything but dessert. The food was superb, not just run-of-the-mill wedding "fish and chicken," but flavorful and cooked to perfection. TYTC also has dozens of appetizer options, perfect for all cuisines and preferences. There was no issue adding items that were non-dairy and GF for several guests with dietary restrictions. In the months before our wedding, Diego was responsive and communicative. He led us know a few months before the wedding that he may need to be on travel...and could miss our wedding. This was only worrying when, after doing walkthroughs (x2), questions kept popping up that we had already answered about décor, timeline etc. Fortunately, Diego handed us off to his colleague Paola who has an extensive background in weddings. Paola was a delight to work with on our wedding day, and managed her team professionally. (They even brought us food/drinks while we were taking photos after the ceremony!) Our guests loved the food, so minus the few stressful hiccups in the final weeks, we're very happy we spent the money to use TYTC.
