Nice spot with lots of variety in store. Premade meals, sauces, Italian pasta, olive oils, and plenty more to browse. We ordered subs and they were tasty. The owner explained that his brother was in the military and that they decided not to offer any discounts, including military discounts, because they want to be fair to everyone. Very philosophical. Everyone fights for our country in their own way, I suppose, including when choosing pasta. The staff and owner joked with us a few times while we were there, and we want to share in the laughter. Oh my gosh the subs here are delicious! We walked in just because we were curious and wanted to see the sub selection and weren't expecting much. But it was so delicious. The sub came out piping hot with a side of marinara sauce. The sub was stuffed with delicious meatballs and lots of melted cheese. The marinara sauce was delicious and definitely needed the extra side of it. It's also a small store with pasta sauces, different pastas and house made raviolis. We grabbed some raviolis to have at home as they sounded so good. I will definitely be back to try their other sandwiches as they all looked delicious! read more

The frozen eggplant parm is delicious! The eggplant parm was fresh just made the day before. Be sure to check the food preparation date as the quality varies with freshness. I saw some sauces and pastas packed a few weeks ago. The lukewarm prepared foods in the display cases look sad and unappetizing, so head to the fridge and freezer section. There's a myriad of ravioli, lasagnas, and sauce to choose from. From the fridge section, I bought a container of vodka sauce and eggplant parm - glad I tried it! The eggplant was juicy and tender loaded with rich mozzarella cheese and sweet tomato sauce. The ratio of eggplant to cheese and tomato sauce was perfect! The eggplant is quite rich and tastes better in a sandwich or a sub. While $18.90 seemed a bit expensive for frozen eggplant parm, it's quite reasonable considering it's $10 per pound and your getting 2 pounds. The cooking instructions were easy to follow, albeit there were 2 sets - large print centered on the container vs the small print on the bar code. I'm glad I went with the smaller print - I removed the plastic lid and covered it with foil and popped it in the oven for 30 min on 350 degrees. Voila! Delicious eggplant parm! Happy to support this family business that's been around for 40+ years! Will return for some eggplant parm and try a pasta! read more

Can't say enough about how great this little gem of a place is! When you walk in, it's very crowded but full of Italian goodies! It can be overwhelming but the men behind the counter are super friendly and quite possibly the best part of the experience. My friend and I ordered two sandwiches once they convinced us how good they were. We split them and I got the genoa and she got the italian panini! I got mine with a mix of sweet and hot peppers as recommended by the men that worked there. When I tell you this was the best damn italian sub i've ever had, I mean it!! The flavor of the oil and the vinegar and everything combined was just incredible. I loved how thin they sliced the onions and the lettuce. The different bites of flavor is what made it so special, The hot and spicy pepper one bite the next bite would be a sweet pepper. I can't get over it, I have dreamed about going back ever since. I will say you won't have any leftovers because it tastes so good! The only downfall may be that the bread may get soggy if you don't eat it immediately but it tastes so good you likely will eat it all at once. I personally did not mind as it was worth every penny. The two men who took our order were friendly and made the experience worth it. I felt like the ambience made you feel welcome and like you were talking to your uncle you haven't seen in a while. Ordered online through many suggestions of trying this spot out for the meatball sub. Pick up was quick and easy! Went straight to the counter and gave my name for the order and paid. Took my subs home immediately to conquer. The portions are great! I ordered steak and cheese for myself and the Naples Sub (meatball) for my fiancé. The steak and cheese was one of the best I've had in so long. It very well could be my new favorite in the area! The steak was cooked to perfection and so meaty. The flavors combined so well. The only suggestion I would say is more cheese! I can't speak for the meatball sub since I didn't try it but my fiancé loved it. It also came with extra sauce for dipping. One of my favorite places in Vienna. I always get the Parma sub that tastes like an authentic Philadelphia hoagy. Sooooo ridiculously good. Also, the cannolis are heavenly. Now this is a very interesting deli. The Italian Gourmet has been in business for around 35 years. It is small and packed with all sorts of specialty items. European chocolates, quality wine, imported cheeses, handmade pastas. You have to pay attention because there are many items: sauces, oils, spices, vinegars. There's a fridge in the back with frozen pasta dinners. They have whatever pasta you can think of like lobster ravioli or veal rigatoni. You don't normally see those outside of a restaurant. The deli serves delicious sandwiches and they have so many options. I ordered a simple turkey and swiss and I loved it. Second, the store. Should you come inside, you find all kinds of specialty items you have to really look for elsewhere-- it's your one stop shop for anything and everything authentically Italian. Third and most recently, the pizza (kit). That is, my family had the idea of making pizza at home, so I called on a whim to schedule some sort of "pizza kit". It's nothing they formally offer on Grubhub (you have to call ahead!), but they'll pre-package fresh sauce, dough, and cheeses for you for a convenient, no-contact curbside pickup. Their Chicken Parmesan sandwich was terrible. it was soggy and I couldn't even hold it in my hands as it fell apart. the taste was bad too. When I went back to the store and told the owners, they didn't apologize and sid that's how they make it. The owner's wife said many people eat that sandwich with fork and knife. I told her she didn't understand what a sandwich was. I have eaten many Chicken Parmesan sandwiches in my life and never had that terrible experience. Plus, it tasted bad too. to their credit, one of the guys there asked if I wanted a refund which I refused. I've been coming here for 20 years now. I've always loved the food but this past time I tried the Parma for the first time ever and oh my god, AMAZING. I'm mad at myself for not trying it sooner. It's my new favorite. Everything is great here though. The sandwiches are perfect and always have the best quality toppings (i.e. the finely shredded lettuce is exquisite and quintessential for a true Italian sub). I love their sides too, the antipasto salad and macaroni salads are outstanding. I also really enjoy their premade meals.
