Our teen boy hit a fist sized piece of road debris and went down hard, bouncing off of the guardrail. A quick call to 911 and the Team from Station 41 arrived on the scene in less than 5 minutes. They quickly assessed the boy and we decided a trip to Fair Oaks was in order. What really surprised and impressed us is when they offered to take our bikes back to the station so we did not need to worry about them. Mike, the EMS supervisor then offered to drive dad all the way to Manassas so dad could pick up a vehicle while mom went off to the hospital with our boy. They made it so easy to focus on what mattered the most, the health and safety of our son. Thanks to the Team at Station 41. We did not learn all of the names to thank you each, individually, but we are grateful for your compassion and expert care.

There's a fitness test race, where one carries a hose, hits a log with a hammer, and carries a fire hose human to safety. There's a fire extinguisher demo. There's a fingerprint station run by the sheriff's department. And many more. The kids can get lots of food and snacks and participate in many activities. They can also clamber on several vehicles, including engines, ambulances, and a canteen truck. The volunteer and professional staff are awesome and answered all the questions a little kid can volley at them.

The firefighters were amazing and so great with the kids - they did a demonstration of putting on fire gear, talking about fire safety, etc. Then they took the kids downstairs for a tour of the station and let them climb all over the fire truck and take photos. The firefighters also joined us in singing happy birthday to my son. My son is still talking about it two months later. :) I'd highly recommend this place and thank the firefighters for making it such a memorable experience.

My review is specifically for the firefighters and EMTs at station #206 on Seminary road who were a godsend to me on Thursday when I needed their help. I couldn't be more impressed or thankful for their care and attention. Unable to move and in severe pain, they bundled me up, with extreme care got me to the ambulance and once they'd done their preliminary work whisked me off to the hospital. At all times I knew I was in good hands and they were exceptional at communicating with me each step of the way so I knew what was going to happen. One of the EMTs was even nice enough to ask my friend if she'd remembered to let my cat out of the bedroom where he'd been locked up while they worked. No one ever intends to need help from our Fire and EMS folks. But I'm really thankful for the crew at station #206 who were there when I really needed them.

My girlfriend and I recently moved to a new apartment and the wooden slat that the previous tenant used to lock the sliding glass door that led to a third story balcony fell behind us, stranding us on our balcony. After trying to call neighbors and locksmiths with no affordable options (lock smith for a condominium with a communal locked front door + personal locked door being $295-$400, and neighbors not answering) I called the non-emergency number for Arlington county's police/fire. The responder told me that "you only call this number as your last resort" and that he was sending the fire department, who I assumed would break the lob door and apartment door by force. I tried to talk him out of it to no avail. Thankfully, they Instead took us down from the balcony with the firetruck's bucket and allowed us to try a few neighbors' codes to buzz us in and eventually got past the first door. Our apartment door was opened gracefully with minimal damage. Every one of them was understanding and courteous. "This is what we do". Thank you so much for helping us out in this potentially costly and/or dangerous ( I was considering trying to climb down from the third story balcony that offers no footing) minor emergency. I could not be more impressed with the professionalism and care these brave men provided us. That's right, three years of playing 'guess which ambulance might show up at my house if I dial 911". Oh, the suspense! The best thing about the new fire station is its modern touches, like having 4 WALLS! Yes, we will all miss the "open-air" feel the fire station displayed during its 3 year renovation---who can besmirch the architecturally compelling 3-wall design? But progress marches on, and Tenleytown is again a safe haven from wayward cigarette butts, leaky gas lines and malfunctioning refrigerator motors. It's good to have our station back.

I mean... I would do it... if there was like no one left... but I'm just not really about all that excitement. I don't know if my heart could handle it! I'd be sitting, waiting for the bell to start ringing, nervous as a hen in a fox den! I met with one of the station coordinator once who showed me their event facilities. The top floor of the station is used for events. Community members can rent it out. It's a little drab, but hey, the funds support the fire station! This fire station receives a LARGE portion of it's funding through the community. I live down the street, and they are constantly busy. It is one of the busier stations in the area, from what I can tell. Thank you firefighters! For everything you do! Not just putting out fires either. They hold shrimp and oyster feasts at the station too!
