As contrast 90% of the time when I worked in Human and Social Services for almost 50 years both government and nonprofit, I found my employer was very adherent to OSHA Guidelines! I talked with a woman named Francesca, we discussed what I saw and experienced at this motel and... No, what actually  happened, is me speaking to an answering machine  and leaving a recorded message.  Yeah, nothing fancy or amazing about this, but it might get the ball rolling if this Osha office in Virginia Beach isn't shut down, because of The Coronavirus Outbreak.  Nevertheless,  this is just round one of getting in contact with them. When I first head of Osha, i was lead to believe these people were the scariest inspectors you don't want showing up at your business.  If they do show up, you might have already messed up royally.  This is what I heard when I was getting training as a pool operator with Century Pool Management.  Months later I was working at a pool when a lady for Osha walked in. I realized who she was, but wasn't nervous. Apparently someone was highly pissed off at what was going on at the pool with another lifeguard and called Osha.   The Osha lady had inspected what the complaint was and found nothing wrong. She did find something else wrong and informed me about it. I got the issue taken care the next day. Up until now, this is was my only contact experience with Osha, but now it will be my second.

With good faith, I first stepped into this office on SEPTEMBER 3, 2025. The insurance agent I was assigned to seemed very nice, & competent enough to solve my concern of finally obtaining 2 life insurance policies to be placed in my name, and subsequently cashed out. I went into this situation knowing entirely that it was going to take some patience & perseverance-on my part & my agent. However, I never dreamed the process would take almost 4 MONTHS, with no updates or guidance on where my payouts were. I was told I needed a "small estate affidavit", & that this may be a process I have to get the COURTS involved in?? I had to go so far as reaching out to my family lawyer, who settled my grandparents trust ( to whom I was a beneficiary), and even call my uncle who was executor of the estate to "open it back up again", to get the information that was needed. That was NOVEMBER 25, TODAY.. is NEW YEARS EVE AND I STILL HAVE NO PAYOUT. I have called the office repeatedly, almost daily for a week, with no one answering the phone. I told the agent I really needed this payout to help with dental surgery I desperately needed. I am now without 4 teeth. This office has left me no other recourse but to try the Bowie office; maybe there I'll get some results.

The firefighters were amazing and so great with the kids - they did a demonstration of putting on fire gear, talking about fire safety, etc. Then they took the kids downstairs for a tour of the station and let them climb all over the fire truck and take photos. The firefighters also joined us in singing happy birthday to my son. My son is still talking about it two months later. :) I'd highly recommend this place and thank the firefighters for making it such a memorable experience.

Be aware--you do have to log into their website and sign up for tickets for the tour--they will not let you in without this reservation. They do have a gift shop of sorts, but they do not sell water--just an fyi. They give a guided tour and it was so very neat! They tell you all about the money printing process from start to finish, how to tell the difference between real vs counterfeit. They discuss the reasons that bills change every few years. You get to see them actually working the ginormous printing machines. I highly recommend visiting on your next DC trip!

The Federal Reserve, oddly enough, has jurisdiction over a single tennis court that is nominally…read more available to the public. Unfortunately, they make it very difficult for members of the public to reserve the court. There is a sign posted on the court saying to call a number to make reservations. When I called the number, they told me I had to come to their security booth to see or make reservations. I trudged over there in the rain, and I had to ask several security booths which one had the tennis book. And when I did, the tennis book was in the building, so I had to wait while they grabbed it. And then I found lots of Federal Reserve employees book courts far in advance. This could be run much better with a simple Google calendar. I'm sure the Fed is great at monetary policy, but they are terrible stewards of their single public tennis court. They should let the National Park Service try their hand at running it.

Viewing the 9/11 crash scene items were very interesting, learning about crime scenes, how they're solved, reading about old stories the FBI solved, stories of espionage, white colored crimes, FBI most wanted...the list goes on. There was so much information packed into this tour, we couldn't get to it all during our stay.
