On April 5, 2026, I made online reservation for a boat at 10 AM April 6, and was charged $423 at that time. At 8 AM the following day, I received a voicemail, an email, and a text message from the company stating that they were closed Monday and I should not have been allowed to make a reservation via their own website,. Obviously there would be a full refund, and they were very apologetic. I never received the refund and contacted them twice more during the next six days. Today I received an email from Benjamin. Tiederman stating that I would only be refunded 50%, which would not be received for another five days. This is fraud and theft, Along with basic incompetence and lack of ethics. I had to eventually submit a charge back to my credit card company, which will cost them extra money in fines instead of doing what they stated they would do. This was a great opportunity from start to finish. Reserving was easy, and during the process I made a change due to the weather and that was easy. Driving an electric boat was a first and it was easy. I've been boating since 2012 and driving this boat was not only easy but fun...and but the way despite sailing since 2012 I'm still slightly step above a novice. The Captain/owner is a great guy, professional, and thorough. I didn't think this was a thing for me where I would want to come back and do it again but I feel like I'll be back this summer. Surprised my husband with a two hour boat road for Father's Day! It was PERFECT!!!! Booking was easy, finding the location and parking was easy. Staff was super friendly and welcoming. Honestly, I was prepared to write a HORRIBLE review on this company because my experience with the owner (Sally) was awful. She miscommunicated information to me and had the nerve not to apologize or admit her mistake. Then she had the audacity to blame me! However, I wrote notes when I booked my reservation, so I knew exactly what was explained to me! Two business days prior to my scheduled boat rental, she contacts me to pay an additional $80 fee for a Captain. After she told me that I would not need one, they could train me 30 minutes prior to my trip, and it was as easy as driving a "golf cart". The part that ticked me off was she tried to deny it and not take ownership of her mistake. Her Customer Service Skills were awful! On top of all of that, she charged the wrong credit card. My experience with Sally left me regretting that I had ever hired her company for my birthday. I was worried my birthday would end up a disaster! After having numerous emails and phone calls not responded to by Sally, I ended up talking to Captain Mike and the owner of the Baltimore location and they were AWESOME! Matter of fact, my co-worker had recommended the Baltimore Company (which is separately owned by Karen) because they had such a great experience! Both Karen and Mike apologize for my experience and made me feel at ease. The day of my birthday/ boat ride, Captain Mike and Captain Dennis met us at the dock. They greeted us with excitement and made my guest and I feel welcome. Their customer service was the best!!! EVERYONE had a GREAT time. I am still receiving phone calls and texts three (3) days later from my guest expressing their appreciation for having an awesome time. Captain Dennis showed us a grand time and was accommodating to us. Because of Captain Mike and Dennis, I am giving this company 4 stars. If you are looking for a private charter without giving your first born, SJ Koch is the perfect option. Boat size is good for a party of 6 - 8 riders (or just 2 to make it extra special). Reservation process is simple. I probably called them 10 times to ask questions, change times, etc and they were accommodating and patient. The 360 view on the water is spectacular with a beautiful sunset and city lights at night. Window panels can be opened or closed depending on temperature and wind. You take charge of the music selection... radio or ipod/iphone hook up. Appeared to be 30 pin so bring adapter if iphone5+. The company encourages you to bring whatever food and drink you desire. Make sure to bring glassware, plates, utensils, etc unless you want to eat and drink with plastic or paper products. Well, I was extremely happy that we ended up renting a boat from Annapolis Electric boat rentals, all of us had a great time! We were 7 adults and my son, who is 3. New owners took over this business in April, so the previous review scalding the owner no longer applies. We found the owners friendly, helpful, and very accommodating. We rented a Duffy for a family fun day and had an excellent time. The seats were comfortable, the shade was ample, and the electric boat was easy to handle and so much quieter than a gas driven outboard. This made the experience as peaceful as sailing. We brought drinks, which we put in the fridge or could have put in the cooler onboard with some ice, and snacks. This was like picnicking in style. I recommend these boats and this company for a smallish but unique party -- I'd say no more than 12 people to fit and 10 to be really comfortable. read more

This is a perfect service for anyone that wants to get out on the water without getting too wild. We've used this service several times for visiting family and friends and everyone has enjoyed the service! Greg is a wonderful captain and he'll make sure you have a great time. The boats have plenty of seating for a large group, a good quality bluetooth speaker, and a large center table. The boat tops out at 5-6 knots so it's great for families or folks who don't have their "sea legs", but you're better off staying within the creeks and Captain Greg will set you up with a chart that shows you exactly how to navigate through. The driver must have a MD boating license (Greg will check before he lets you on) but the process to obtain one is easy and free. I don't know if Greg will charter for a group that doesn't have a licensed person. We've found that the 2-hour cruise is perfect for seeing Spa Creek and Back Creek, with just enough time to get back to the dock and disembark. If you want to loiter a little longer, the 3-hour cruise is good too. I would not recommend taking the boats into the Severn mainstream, it's pretty difficult to maneuver around other boats or outrun the wake they create. read more

We just returned from a mother/daughter weekend in Annapolis during which we rented a two hour electric boat. We picked up sandwiches from Giolotti's Italian deli...which happened to be across the street from a wine store and whole foods! With our cooler and lunch bucket full, we set out for 2nd street.The location is a little hard to find if you are not from the area but truly everything else went like clockwork. We have a fantastic experience and so much fun just putting around the harbor, eating lunch and having libations (not the Skipper of course). Greg and his wife were awesome and so nice to talk to. This was GREAT!!! I am not agile at all but was able to get on and off the boat easily. The have a restroom on board but it is small so you might want to go before you come aboard. It was super clean and comfortable with a refrigerator on board to keep drinks cold. Definitely worth renting for a nice day on the water in Annapolis. We also found parking pretty close. We dropped off our stuff and then parked the car. Would definitely do this again. I purchased a Travel Zoo deal for a weeknight boat rental, We chose to just drive the boat ourselves without a captain and it wasn't as daunting as I thought it might be. We had a great time! Mike greeted us at the boat, showed us how to maneuver the boat, and even made us laugh. This is a great way to spend time with friends or family. We had access to a mini-fridge and an emergency bathroom. We were also able to bring as much food and drinks as we wanted. There is a stereo on board with an AUX hookup for your ipod or phone. Renting this boat revealed an actual 'grandfather clause' in Maryland boating regulations - I was bemused to find that my birthdate before July 1972 allowed me to walk up and drive the boat without a boating license (presumably using wisdom instead of training?). The electric boat was very clean and pretty easy to learn drive. My advanced age (59y) did make me forget the verbal warnings of where to look out for shoals. I did manage to avoid grounding the boat in front of my family but I kinda wish the map provided some depictions of the locations of shoals. We had a great little 2 hour rental from 6pm to 8pm August 30. We had great views of the top of the Maryland Capitol against the colors of the sunset sky. We also saw about 6 great blue herons, a couple of ospreys, and a lot of ducks. Our group of 6 (my wife and I and our two sets of married young adult children) had plenty of space for our picnic dinner aboard while enjoying the scenery of Spa Creek. The waterways were crowded with yachts, paddleboards, kayaks, and watertaxis but we all politely avoided each other. As a novice with this kind of boat, I was very relieved that the owner took care of driving us out of the crowded dock, hopping off when we were clear of the crowded area, and he did the same thing of hopping aboard to bring us in when we returned. read more

Annapolis is a favorite day-trip destination for us and our 5/24/18 visit was enriched by a first-time Annapolis Electric Boat rental. Although we've also enoyed schooner sailing there many times, our electric boat canopy provided much-needed shade (greatly expanding the times when we can be out on the water), and we controlled our course, pace, etc.; a wonderful way to explore different areas. Greg was terrific from booking to explaining the craft's operation (we love being on the water, but have never done the "driving"), answering Qs, and being on hand for our return to the marina area. We rented a boat over memorial day weekend and had a fine time. However, a week later we got a notice from SJ Koch that they were billing us for a "missing window"! There were only two of us on the boat, it was a sunny day, we just drove around in circles for a couple hours, and we certainly didn't touch any windows. I can only assume they mean the plastic pieces that were fixed to the underside of the canopy and which we didn't touch during our rental. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY unless you fully document every thing about the boat before you leave and even then DO NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY YOUR CREDIT CARD EVER. read more
