A friend and I sailed on Saturday and I've already recommended this outing to all of my colleagues and local DC friends! Captain Jen and her crew were great--from welcoming everyone aboard, to the safety briefing, to answering a million questions, to serving drinks--they were knowledgable and fun. Joey and Jake were great crew, too. It was the perfect day to be on the water as it was SO HOT but windy and clear for sailing. Will definitely bring my family next time!

If you need a different idea for date day look no further than the schooner woodwind. 2-hour sales out on the Chesapeake Bay out of downtown Annapolis with all the comforts of boat ownership without any of the headaches. Well worth every penny, especially if the weather is nice The cruise super nice and they serve drinks on board both alcoholic and not. It's a fair price for what you get and the capstone for any day date in Annapolis. Highly recommended as we have been three or four times now and look forward to it annually. The owner and her staff could not be more friendly.

We had a fantastic time on the Schooner. This is a sailboat so you will be exposed to conditions like the sun, etc. The weather for our sunset ride was perfect. We were seated next to the captain who was very nice and knowledgeable. However, this isn't a boat ride where the captain gives history or points out landmarks, etc. It's a ride, not a tour. I would love to go back for a specialty cruise-they have beer cruises, history ones, etc that sound like fun.

what fun! a must- do if you're visiting Annapolis. Trips are 2 hours, see some cool sights, and you can take the helm (or hoist a sail) if you'd like. The crew and Captain were SO accommodating.

Incredible sail with great owner Captain Jen. We are sailors and will sail for a week here but wanted some local knowledge so we signed up for the tour. We had all kinds of weather and had all 5 sails up. Customers get to help with the sails and steer should they want to. Jen gafe is lots of information on where to sail and places to eat for our week here. The boats are awesome and very impeccably maintained. I highly recommend the trip.

A 21 year tradition continues! .... each year on or near our wedding anniversary we take a cruise aboard the sailboat we were married on. Yesterday was our day to celebrate sharing life's journey together! The winds were blowing perfectly which lead to a fantastic afternoon sailing adventure! Looking forward to many more years of cruising with my beautiful bride aboard Schooner Woodwind: Annapolis Sailing Cruises ... Founded and operated by the Kaye Family since July 1993 ... The Schooner Woodwind is a first class business that provides outstanding service and an exceptional sailing experience. We might be slightly bias but if you are visiting Annapolis we wholeheartedly recommend Schooner Woodwind: Annapolis Sailing Cruises! Check them out on the web at: https://schoonerwoodwind.com/

It's always a wonderful experience sailing with Schooner Woodwind and being able to watch the Blue Angels from the water was extra special! Captain Jen and the crew were engaging and kind.

Went on a two hour 11am tour Sunday Memorial weekend, booked a week in advance. I was a little concerned about getting the reservation in time since the bookings open a week in advance, but I was able to get two tickets with several openings remaining within an hour after reservations opened. The four person crew was communicative during the sailing portions, asking for volunteers to help raise and lower the sails, and chatty/friendly while we sailed around the harbor. There were 20-25 other people on the boat with several children, and I appreciated that the crew especially engaged with them (letting them steer the ship). We motored in and out of the dock, but otherwise sailed for the majority of the time on the boat. Ticket came with a free drink. It was my first time on a sailboat, and I enjoyed the chitchat with the staff and the tour the captain gave of the sights. Great experience - worth the $60+ ticket for an Annapolis summer morning! Remember to wear sunscreen. (They also offer life jackets for those interested.)

Nice relaxing sunset sail. 2 hours fly by with a tour of the bay and interesting facts about the area and its history.

Carrie and Steve were welcoming, knowledgeable, patient, and courteous with all the students. If my experience at the school had ended with them this would be a five star review. Regrettably it was not.The the class I attended fell on three windless days, which meant the sailing portion had to be deferred to a makeup class a month later. Now this is where my story takes an unfortunate turn. The day of the make up class I arrived at the school exhausted and lost in a mental fog do to a medical condition I do not feel like discussing here. I am a veteran with a 100% disability rating, I am sure you can figure out what my problem may have been. I promptly informed the instructors that I was having serious health issues at the time and they agreed I should sit out the class and suggested I return the next day if I happened to feel better. I left believing the school would work with me, since I had prepaid for two classes (ASA 101 and ASA 103). Unfortunately, the scheduling staff did not share the same views or concerns as the instructors when I called the next business day. When they finally agreed to place me in another ASA 101 class (so they wouldn't have to adjust the ASA 103 course I had already paid for), I was told during that final phone call: "There is a caveat -- you feeling sick or not well is not an excuse for missing a class." Let that sink in: "feeling sick or not well is not an excuse for missing a class." I don't think a more tone deaf statement could be said to someone living with a permanent disability. Now, I may have overreacted -- I admit I had gone four full days without sleeping. But even in my altered state, I knew that my health and safety, as well as that of every student, should be the school's top priority. Their response made me feel like nothing more than an inconvenience -- a monetary transaction that had gone wrong. Living with a disability is not a choice, and it is not something I can control. Disgusted by their attitude, I rejected the offer for yet another makeup class. For my troubles I received a partial refund on ASA 103, I kept the course book and plan to teach myself. The money I had intended to spend on additional courses will now go towards a down payment on a boat that I will be able enjoy at my own pace. This was my experience with the Annapolis Sailing School. If you have any health issues or happen to be permanently disabled, as I am, I would strongly suggest looking at other schools in the area. It's your choice -- I have made mine.

The 101 course is great for newbies; the instructors are all highly experienced yet very patient with beginners, you'll have a great time for sure! Since I love cooking, I'm going to use the Scoville scale to compare 101 and 103. If 101 is just a mild bell pepper, then 103 is a jalapeño. Don't take it unless you're ready for a true sailing boot camp! It will kick your ass, especially if you've just come from 101, but you're going to learn A LOT that you can then take with you to digest and practice. You're going to be overloaded with a LOT of information, but just take some time at the end of each day to decompress and process what you've learned and you'll do fine. They are all very passionate about the art of sailing and push you hard to be the best sailor you can be. Def a great experience!!!

Excuse was that the person who we booked with in March was no longer with the company. Lot of work to redo all the work we had done in March to find the charter we wanted - anyone who has tried to book one knows it's much smoke and mirrors, the same boats are rented out by different outfitters, everything is a little different between each and it's hard to get a full picture of total cost, and to compare apples to apples and not something else. Document every conversation and detail of what you agreed upon with Sailaway (or any other company) or they'll change the game. Arrived in Key was as agreed upon. Boat reeked of sewage. Captain had been on the boat for ten minutes several days before our charter, that's it. Said it reeked then too, but didn't do anything about it. Captain had almost no contact with Sailaway, it was the first time they worked with them. Captain ended up calling marina engineer and it turned out that half of the boat had not been pumped out. Additionally, the captain's cabin bathroom was broken, and the toilet didn't flush. You can imagine. It all got fixed but it was a stinky hassle and we started our charter several hours late. Sailaway overcharged us in their electronic system and ghosted us upon repeated request to resolve. Jennifer, owner of the company, acted unprofessionally and winged it to provide a charter boat and an ok but inexperienced crew she had never met, nor taken the time to get to know. It came out all right by helping out on the fly, but Sailaway was disappointing and there was no communication with, nor support for the crew from them either. The situation would have been salvageable if Jennifer had responded to our emails and calls to resolve the issue and accept feedback as we asked her to do. But she didn't, which leaves us with a bad feeling about her and her company.
