The therapist was very good, professional and had a great bedside manner. However, the arrogance, rudeness and lack of respect for me as a patient and lack of regard for my payments and the unaccounted for charges and what appeared to be a lack of a regular cleaning procedure was unwarranted. I was over charged repeatedly with the warning that it would take 4-6 weeks to process the refunds. For several weeks the clerk refused to check and see what my actual co-pay was- when she finally relented, she seemed embarrassed to find that it was only 3.00, and against my better judgment, I decided to continue with my treatment there. I had started at their other location, loved my therapist- then one day she was gone and I was handed off between different assistants each time, that didn't even take the time to find out what I was suffering from before they put me on equipment that would have further damaged my condition. I had a serious car accident and was barely walking on my own, having recently graduated from a wheel chair, to a walker and was afraid of falling as we were required to share much of the equipment at the same time. It was suggested that I might do better at their smaller location. I really liked the therapist as well, at the new location, it was much smaller, and didn't feel as much like a "factory " for lack of a better word. The therapist took his time a gradually worked me up to more intense workouts. On my very first visit though, and subsequent visits, the clerk would take my credit card ( they are not permitted to take cash) and hold it on the other side of her desk until I had signed the receipt, instead of handing the credit card and drivers license back right away. We are talking about a 3.00 charge. They weren't going to treat me until it was paid, so I'm not sure where the concern was, but the lack of trust of their patients, from the very beginning, was evident. I was there twice a week for many months, but was regularly charged 20-35.00 per visit for my co-pay, even though I reiterated that my co-pay was only 3.00. I was told by the very rude and caustic clerk that they were allowed to hold that much. She vacillated between being snarky, sarcastic, and actually yelling at me. I took this poor treatment from their administration for as long as I could because I believed that my therapist was doing me some good and I very much appreciated his efforts. I was in a lot of pain and it was difficult to fight. I also quietly asked them to please clean the equipment handles after each use. The patient demographics in this location are mostly elderly people who may have reduced immune systems. They couldn't seem to find the antiseptic wipes, but eventually came around, and stated wiping equipment down for me. I'm not sure it was an overall practice. Eventually they stopped cleaning the equipment after each use. I started wearing gloves when I became sick several times after my visit. I don't know if my illness was attributed to the lack of sanitation, but it didn't seem worth the risk. The clerk could barely control her contempt. Then in January, the clerk asked for a large deductible. I had already met my deductible through several other Dr visits and let her know. She seemed upset, so I paid it. Of course, we were back to deducting the 3.00 co-pay from the large hold, which conceivably could take many, many months to use up. I let it go- then caught Covid. The last outing was at PT - but it is hard to say where it came from. I finally recovered and was on my way to therapy when I received a call from the clerk. This was the last straw - we now had a misunderstanding over the appointment time. I was very careful to write the time on my calendar, and my fiancée, who could hear the conversation which was on speaker phone, also wrote it on his calendar. The clerk had called and said that I missed the appointment- that it was a half hour earlier than I had recorded. I told her that I had made the appointment through the main office as this clerk was out due to the snowstorm and the office was closed. The other clerk said that she had already checked with the clerk that made the reservation, and said that I had insisted on the earlier appointment. This is non-sensical as I had no other appointments that day and I typically like to keep appointments at the same time- less chance of missing it- why would I change just one appointment time for no reason? I sensed an ulterior motive behind this so I asked the clerk point blank, if she was trying to end the relationship? She said, with a gleeful cackle- that yes- that this would be my last warning. I then spoke to the Therapist, expressed my gratitude for his treatments and said I would find another therapist. Life is too short I really wanted to love this practice- but I believe that the corporate culture was intolerable. read more

This is a cautionary tale. 1. Do not believe all the 5 star reviews. Not even the Pope gets nothing but 5 star reviews. Read your paperwork they get you to sign while you are ready to get therapy--I wish I had. Billing comes a month later so you do not know how much you are being charged until it is too late. Some of the other negative reviews are spot on, you wont see them on their site. I was told several times they checked my insurance and the MOST I would be charged is $35 per session; they never told me my insurance (High End) would charge $70 toward my deductible. They NEVER told me they would charge several hundred for "The Evaluation" at the beginning--a joke. Sessions were never an hour, the last one I was cut short 15 minutes because a new cllient was waiting for a eval. I did not continue with this group. read more

As a disabled veteran who recently moved to Annapolis to be closer to my Navy brothers, finding the right physical therapy provider was crucial for me. After extensive research, I chose Annapolis Family Physical Therapy, particularly drawn to a therapist named Angela. My first visit was encouraging--Angela demonstrated a strong understanding of the trauma I've experienced in my lower extremities and back. She even shared her own experiences with similar injuries, which made me feel confident that I was in the right hands. However, my experience took a sharp turn during my second visit. To my surprise, I was greeted by a completely different therapist, a male who I had not chosen to work with. When I inquired about Angela, I was told she was in another room, and that I would be seeing whoever was available that day. This lack of consistency and disregard for my specialized needs was extremely frustrating. It became clear that this practice operates more like a revolving door than a personalized care provider. Patients are shuffled around like numbers, with no consideration for the continuity of care, which is vital for someone with complex conditions like mine. This assembly-line approach is not just unprofessional--it's dangerous for those of us who require tailored, attentive care. In my opinion, this practice prioritizes profit over patient well-being, offering impersonal, and frankly, careless treatment. If you are looking for dedicated, consistent care, I strongly advise you to look elsewhere. Btw the receptionist, Maureen? On aug 26 @ around 830 was extremely rude, she had some txting to do on her phone that I interrupted, she also admitted that they never told me I would not have the same provider ( bait and switch) and that's that just how the owner wants the practice. A friend recommended Annapolis Family Physical Therapy (AFPT) to me, saying-- "If you have a choice, go there. It's a great place." On 2 December 2020 I had a total knee replacement. On 4 December 2020, I fell and broke my wrist. Thus, when I arrived at AFPT, I was hobbled and scared and in awful pain-- unable to use my left knee or right arm. Walking in the facility, I was greeted by the ever-friendly Janice at the front desk. She has been kind and upbeat and attentive. She greeted me by name from Day One. Several PTAs worked with me. All of whom were very good: Liz, Maria, Sarah. I owe special thanks to Courtney who worked with me on a regular basis and always gave me very helpful take-home advice. My deepest gratitude and respect and admiration go to Angela, the DTA who oversaw my rehab and was my most regular therapist. She is personable, a great conversationalist, and most importantly for my poor knee-- highly skilled. She pushed me beyond my limits without being harsh. She was an encourager on my hard days and a cheerleader on my good ones. She educated me, which I so enjoyed. This facility is bright and airy. You will not feel like just another client on a conveyor belt. You will feel as if you have walked into a place that cares about you and your progress. When I left today, having completed my therapy, I almost skipped out the door. Into the spring sunshine. Proud of my success and eternally grateful to this stellar group of people. I've used Annapolis Family PT successfully on two occasions for shoulder and hamstring rehab. The therapists are highly competent, friendly, and motivating. For both of my rehabs, they did a thorough initial evaluation and designed plans entailing stretching, exercise, and massage that got me fully recovered in three to five weeks. They also provided a set of home exercises for me to do during rehab and for maintenance post rehab. Their front office staff is friendly and efficient. I received outstanding professional care from Whitney Carlsen, PT who initially diagnosed, prescribed and managed my care throughout my recovery. Regarding Annapolis Family Physical Therapy - There are few instances where as a health care professional i might make a comment on the experience i might have in another facility or practice. I was overwhelmed with the administration of this group from the confirmation process down to the minimal effort of engaging me with there care. I hope to mimic there system and processing in my own practice. As for the physical therapy it was evident immediately that i was receiving the seasoned care of professionals with a thorough exam and review down to my initial therapy with state of the art equipment and a warm and caring yet relaxed staff of auxiliaries. read more

I had serious ankle / foot reconstruction surgery March 6, 2020 and began PT on June 1. John was my main PT and was excellent. He was positive and realistic, answering all my questions and concerns patiently. Chelsea, Holly, Kathleen and Kelly also worked with me during the 6 months. They coordinated and tweaked my plan of therapy, keeping it "interesting". Their different skill sets helped to get me to my goal - play tennis again and run sprints. I am a 72-year-old athlete and I really appreciated everyone's professionalism, sincere concern, and creativity to keep me encouraged, optimistic and on course. Equally important were the aides -Cameron, Liz, Trevor, Caitlin, Louis, Jake, JD, Brooke and Mike. Their youthful enthusiasm and attention to my progress in the therapy program were inspiring. I looked forward to going to PT and was a bit sad when I was discharged. They make it such a family atmosphere! I highly recommend this practice. read more

I would recommend Annapolis Family Physical Therapy to anyone and everyone, they are a great bunch of people. I am a very active person, playing sports (roller derby), running, biking anything but sitting still. I dislocated and broke my ankle in 3 different places at a derby practice so that slowed me down some. But not for long with the help of AFPT! Had surgery in May 2015 then started PT with AFPT in July 2015 and now November 2015 100% recovered and stronger than before. It was always a pleasure going to AFPT, everyone is always helpful and upbeat. They genuinely care on how you are doing and help push you for the best results with your recovery.
