The office is conveniently located off Rt 50 and I-66. The front staff was courteous and helped right away. Wait time was annoying. Waited 25 minutes past appointment time even though I arrived early. I was scheduled with a PA to remove a mole and melia. The PA was courteous. She examined the mole and reassured me it did not show signs of concern. She then recommended that I see a plastic surgeon for the mole removal. For the melia, she explained the procedure and informed me of the potential side effects. Given the information I was provided, I took her recommendation to see a plastic surgeon. I paid $80. Unaware at this time how much insurance will pay or if I'll receive a follow-up bill. Ridiculous that doctors still charge when no service is provided. I reached out to friends, who previously had a mole or melia removed, for their plastic surgeon recommendations. They all came back saying their dermatologist removed their melia or mole, and they didn't see a plastic surgeon. I reached out to my friend, who is a retired internist. He thought a dermatologist should've been able to handle this. I could go to a second dermatologist but annoyed that I'll need to take time off of work again. I understand that I don't present with an exciting case, but I shouldn't have to hop around for a mole and melia removal. And I really find it distasteful that I was still charged and insurance billed even though no service was provided. read more

I visited this dermatologist because my hairline was pink, inflamed, and I was starting to lose hair in the area. I also wanted to know what I could do about my facial hair. As a woman, I hate growing facial hair. The doctor told me I had nothing to worry about. If I put oil on my hairline and it resolves...easy peasy. And she compared my facial hair to hers saying, "see, I grow facial hair too, I just pluck them." I knew she didn't believe me. Well, I got a second opinion. I went to Dr. Bembry! Dr. Bembry actually EXAMINED my scalp. Oh, did I tell you the last dermatologist didn't actually examine my scalp. Dr. Bembry actually examined my entire scalp, not only in my trouble spots. She did two biopsies because she seen the obvious! My scalp needs help! I haven't received the results yet, but I'm so happy Dr. Bembry is doing her due diligence to get to the root of the problem and she actually believed me and wants to help! read more

Great doc in Fairfax office on a difficult proceedure in July 2023. Problem is with billing. Billing sent me bill in October threatening collections - no earlier bill. I contact the billing folks day bill recived and they admitted - billing has been a mess since August. Okay contact my insurance, Aetna, they said big bill sent most of it documented and ost of it paid but $1,639 without back up from practice can't be paid. And I had met dedictible for the year so this is all on Aetna. Well January 2024 and monthly I contact Aetna and they get AA Derm billing on the phone, so 4 times now spending a morning with Aetna confirming no docs received , nothing owed from me, nd AA Derm unable to provide basic medical info to Aetna. Today I reached out the the surgeon to get info so the practice can get paid. Too many other choices out there to return to AA Derm Fairfax again given their billing hot trash issues. read more

So happy to find a dermatologist who listens and cares! I was desperately seeking a second o pontoon after my concerns were blown off by a different dermatologist at a different practice. My anxiety was pretty high when I went in because of how I had been treated, so it was great to find Dr Valentin took to the time listen to all of my concerns and genuinely cared to help find a solution. Ever gone to the doctor and felt rushed because the doctor just wanted to get to their next patient? Dr. Valentin was "present" and never tried to hurry me even though I know I went over my appointment time. I left finally feeling hopeful for the first time in 10 months. The office staff was very friendly. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because they lost their other dermatologist who used to be there so I had to wait 5 weeks for a new patient appointment. This is my 3rd dermatologist and glad that I finally found someone who I will be sticking to. Dr. Valentin and her staff are awesome and appointments are always on time ( in fact, among all my doctors, this is the most efficient). The staff are very friendly and always with a smile. Dr. Valentin is unlike other dermatologists I've been to--she takes time to listen to you and explains thoroughly. With my past dermatologists, they make you wait for 30 mins. And are done seeing you in 2 minutes! She is very patient with your questions and will really explain everything. Love this practice, I definitely recommend. read more

Dr. Valentin is great. My issue is with billing, appointment availability, and their offsite receptionists. I've had three or four visits where I get charged for a cosmetic appointment and dermatology appointment. I've called and the person has corrected and removed the charge only for me to receive a bill a few weeks later with the "removed" charge on it. It's so frustrating because when I call back they agree to remove it again and the same thing happens. In the past I've just paid the bill because the office can't seem to correct it (or they correct it and somehow it gets back on). In addition to the charging errors it takes months to see Dr. Valentin. She's good but I also value being able to see someone if I'm having an issue when I actually have the issue... not two months later when the issue has resolved itself. Finally, calling this practice is a nightmare. They have call center receptions that aren't in the actual office. Most are okay but I've had a few that are snippy off the bat. Overall, Dr. Valentines is great, the office accounting (in my experience) has consistently made errors and even when they agree that it's an error and they will fix it somewhere on the backend it gets back on. Additional the office staff is fine but the people who answer their phones (not onsite at the office) are inconsistent. Some are fine and others are rude. Overall all the cons outweigh a good doctor. read more

Dr. Valentin is now treating both my wife and I for different reasons, but we both receive excellent care and advice on the options available to us for long term care. Dr. Valentin is the first dermatologist that I've ever seen and I was kind of nervous as to what to expect. The office was very easy to locate, very clean, and very organized. The wait time was practically nonexistent. I handed the receptionist my paperwork, went to go wash my face, came back and was called back almost immediately. Everyone was very nice. Dr. Valentin was wonderful. She's very kind and friendly and I didn't feel like she was talking down to me like I've felt with a lot of doctors in the past. read more

WARNING!! I'm sure there are good doctors within this place but DEFINITELY NOT DR. ZETTA FAYOS!!! BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS PLACE!!!! Id like to start this review by saying I never like to go out of my way to give a bad review, hence why my history on yelp will say I don't leave many reviews; but this doctor almost put me out of my career as a hairstylist because of her lack of knowledge as a dermatologist. 100% Malpractice and I'm heavily contemplating reporting her. I made a dermatology appointment with Dr. Zetta Fayos to remove a wart on my hand. I have had cryotherapy done by another dermatologist before countless times when I was younger to remove warts. I had gone years without them, up until the last year I had one pop up on my hand. During my first appointment with Dr. Fayos, I explained to her about how I am a hairstylist and I cannot afford to do treatments that take a long time and require me to keep coming back frequently for treatments. My hands are in hair and in water very often. I asked if she could do cryotherapy on the wart since i have had that done every single time and every time it has worked and it is the most fitting treatment for my lifestyle and history of warts. She refused to do the treatment for the first appointment, and for some strange reason brought up something about court. I had no idea why, but NOW I understand. She then proceeded to encourage me to do Candida injections, which she said weren't entirely effective and there's a high risk I could to into anaphylactic shock so I'd have to stay in the office for an extra 30 minutes. I told her I felt uncomfortable with that, so she then said she'll write me a prescription for a compound of salicylic acid. I practically begged her to do the cryotherapy and finally she, very frustratingly, said "FINE" and sprayed the liquid nitrogen 3 times on my calloused wart and sent me home with the compound. I did the compound for an entire month and it only ate away a tiny layer of the wart and it barely looked any different. During my second appointment, I told her how the compound isn't working for me and that I'm not able to apply it while working without it coming off even with the bandaids she recommended me to get off of amazon. She pulled out the candida shot and got gloves on as if she was ready to inject me but I VERY quickly said no I do not feel comfortable doing the candida injection! She proceeded to ask why even though I had already explained that I didn't want to do that option. I told her I'd really like to have cryotherapy done, and she then began to get very agitated and snappy. She asked me what my old dermatologist had done with the liquid nitrogen. I told her I was a child so I could not remember the exact information but from what I could remember he would dip some kind of a Q tip into the liquid nitrogen canister , made sure the area was isolated and freeze ONLY the wart in increments re-dipping a q tip into liquid nitrogen and refreezing the wart. She then very angrily turned to the young girl who was an assistant and said "set the timer for 45 seconds". She did NOT isolate my hand or begin to explain ANYTHING to me, and she just sprayed my hand with liquid nitrogen for an entire 45 seconds WHILE LAUGHING to her assistant. She then said to check back in a month and that I could continue to put the salicylic acid on the wart that she just froze. SHE RECOMMENDED FOR ME TO CHEMICALLY BURN THE GIANT PATCH OF SKIN SHE JUST FROZE AND KILLED. AND THEN, just wait, she tells me I can lance it myself at home with a needle. Is that seriously the kind of advice a DERMATOLOGIST should give to a patient? Throughout that day the part on my hand kept swelling bigger and bigger, getting bloodier and bloodier. I have a high pain tolerance so it was okay at first but then by the end of the day I could not pick things up and I could not use my right hand because of how painful it was. I couldn't handle the pain. I knew I shouldn't lance it myself because it could get infected and I knew she had chemically frozen more than just the wart on my hand. That night it burst on its own and bled everywhere. The next couple of weeks at work were SO difficult and painful, I had to call out one day because I just couldn't do it. The next week it got infected and I knew I had to see my primary care. I went and saw my primary care and she confirmed that doctor had killed the top layer of my skin and didn't properly isolate just the wart and that my hand was indeed infected. My primary care put me on cephalexin and cured the infection. And guess what? She missed the wart and just killed my skin. I will never EVER go to Anne Arundel Dermatology and ESPECIALLY never go see that Zetta Fayos woman. She should not be practicing dermatology and should NOT be seeing patients for things like this. STAY AWAY FROM ZETTA FAYOS!!!! read more

I rarely post reviews, but I am very impressed with this dermatologist. I found this dermatologist online based on the positive reviews. I have never had to utilize dermatology services in the past. However, as I get older, I now realize how skin conditions can tell a lot about an individual's health. My first time at this dermatologist was for the purpose of removing two warts from my left palm. I have had these warts on my left palm for years and did not even think about the possibility of removing them. Upon arrival, the office is clean and very welcoming. The front staff is nice and explains any paperwork you need to complete. I feel the front desk can tell a lot about the ethics and beliefs of the office/management. The front desk appears happy and values your experience. I give the front desk FIVE stars. Dr. Valentin is the dermatologist I am assigned to. She is modern, friendly, very smart, and you can she loves what she does. Looking at warts and removing them is not something I would be thrilled about, however, with her she reviews the reason for this growth, how to remove them, how to prevent, and expresses her interest in this field. I know removing a wart is not a big deal to many, but she removed them with ease. This boosted my confidence. First appointment rated at 5 STARS. Months later, I began experiencing bumps and a rash on my left leg/thigh. For some reason I reported to urgent care and was diagnosed with dermatitis or eczema. I am not used to having a dermatologist, so as a routine, I reported directly to urgent care. After a a few days, I noticed the rash was not completely improving. I called this dermatologist on a Wednesday and their office was able to see me the next day...perfect! Again, I met with Dr. Valentin, who came in and knew exactly what I have. Prior to this, I now feel at ease prior to my appointment and their environment does not make you feel as if you are there for a "doctors" appointment. Back to the diagnosis. She diagnosed me correctly and her knowledge is outstanding. Her assistant and her joke around and are confident about their assessment. Her staff and her are great and I actually do not mind going there. We need more doctors like her. read more

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. Valentin. So I've gone to a dermatologist for many years. I've struggled with acne my entire life and still do today. I am 30 years old and have seen many dermatologists for my acne and their answer is always accutain. I've taken accutain 3 different times and for those who do not know, it's a very serious drug. Although is has worked for my acne while I am on the Rx, it doesn't last. I've been off of it for 3 years now and I do not want to go back on it because my husband and I are planning to have kids soon. I went to a dermatologist about a year ago and told her we wanted to have kids and accutain was not an option. She then prescribed me another Rx with some topicals that she claimed to be safe if I were to get pregnant. Every time I would go back to visit her she would ask me if I've been on accutain where I then said, "yes, I've told you I've been on it 3 times and it's not an option right now." Needless to say, I wasn't convinced that she was actually listening to me when I had said I didn't want anything that could potentially harm a baby if I were to get pregnant. A couple months ago I went to Dr. Valentin at Anne Arundel in fairfax and she told me that one of the topicals isn't 100% safe if I were to get pregnant. Some doctors overlook topicals because they are not ingested like pills. So, she looked up different ingredients for different prescriptions before prescribing me anything. Needless to say I was very thankful to have a doctor who actually took that time to listen to me and to check labels and ingredients in the prescriptions. I've been using these topicals and antibiotics for about 2 months now and I've seen a huge improvement in my acne. Aside from my acne I also went to Dr. Valentin about oil glads under my eyes. She was able to remove them without any problems! Lastly, I am looking forward to micro needling that I will be getting done to help with acne and scars. Stay tuned for updates! read more

I spent quite some time trying to find the best dermatologist in the area for my mom and Dr. Valentin proved that she really is the best. Scheduling an appointment was easy and I received reminder emails/texts ahead of time. The nurse who checked us in was patient and kind. She took down all the questions my mom wanted to discuss with the doctor. Additionally, we only had to wait a few minutes for the doctor to arrive. Dr. Valentin is kind, friendly, knowledgeable, and makes you feel very comfortable. She addressed every single one of my mom's concerns (this was her first time going to the dermatologist) and was able to do a biopsy for her on the spot. Each person we encountered never made us feel uncomfortable about the fact that my mom needs me to translate for her (some other doctors/nurses/offices have in the past). Sometimes, Dr. Valentin even asked if I wanted to translate something before she proceeded. My son had a few appointments with Dr. Valentin. The staff and doctor are very friendly and professional.  She went over the procedure with my son.  She was very thorough and didn't try to rush the visit.  My son has a disability and sometimes doctors don't feel comfortable speaking with him even though he is the patient, and would speak with myself or my husband.  Dr. Valentin spoke with my son and even engaged in a short personal conversation with him.  The doctor and her staff really made my son feel welcomed. read more

I recently had filler and Botox done by Dr. Valentin. I was afraid of looking overdone, but I love the results, I look like me, just better...which is exactly what I wanted. My lips look full and the area under my eyes looks great (I don't have that sunken look under my eyes anymore, which made look tired). I have been needing to get a mole removed for quite a while. When I heard about Anne Arundel Dermatology opening up near me, I was really excited and booked an appointment. It was really easy to schedule an appointment online and I received a confirmation call from the office as well as email. For my appointment I needed a referral from my primary doctor. My primary doctor office messed up with scheduling me with a different doctor from the office but, the front desk associates at AAD called my office and settled everything for me, which was really nice of them and less stress for me! The staff is all very friendly and when I met with Dr. Valentin she was very attentive and listened to all my questions as well as answered them. I did not feel rushed. She explained everything she was doing. Removing my mole was really easy and super quick, she could of done it quickly and left but instead she explained to me how she will remove it and follow up care and so on. Thee worst experience ever! During these trying times (COVID-19), I decided to risk my life and follow through with my scheduled appointment that I made over a month ago. I consider myself a punctual guy, so I arrived 15 min early to my 7:45 am appointment. The office was closed. I called the Vienna location to see if I made a mistake and scheduled an appointment at their location. The Represenative reconfirmed that my appointment was scheduled at the Fairfax location with DR. Valentin. The Represenative also brung to my attention that there's two Anne Arundel Dermatology locations in FairFax (GREAT!). She proceeded to give me the second locations address. As I'm in route, I attempted to do what any courteous person would do, and give the office a call to let them know about the huge mistake, and that I'm in route. Unfortunately for me AAD doesn't have a direct number to their location publicly listed. I was transferred to an offsite representative. She was aware of the entire scenario and the amount of time it would take for me to get to the location. She assured me that I would be ok with the appointment as AAD gives their clients a 15 min grace period, Perfect! I proceeded to ask the rep, if she could call the location and update them on my arrival time for me, the rep did so without any hesitation and placed me on hold. Once she returned she informed me that DR. Valentin could not see me until 11am as she has a 8:00 am Video appointment with another client. At this point I'm at the correct Fairfax location and it's 7:53 am (under the 15 min window).I'm now speaking to the lady at the front desk to check in and she tells me that I cannot be seen until 11am, because DR. Valentin has an 8am video appointment. "Well, I'm here within my 15min grace period, so why can't I be seen (was my response)? "Yes, you made it here within that 15 min window, but you would have to wait until the DR. is available to see you, and that's 11am. Now, there's a few issues with this scenario. #1 That's not how a GRACE PERIOD works. #2 I'm no DR, but 15 min to numb and extract a keloid off of someones face sounds like a rushed job. #3 Nor am I an appointment scheduler, but if you scheduled a client at 7:45am and your policy is a 15 min grace period and the extraction takes 15min or less, wouldn't you schedule your next appointment after 8:15am?
