I love my doctor, and she referred me to this place, so I tried to overlook my first impressions:…read morethe faded letters on the awning, the wall to wall dingy carpet (why would there be carpet in an allergist's office at all?), the peeling wallpaper, old and uninteresting magazines in the waiting room which did nothing to alleviate my frustration at waiting an hour before my name was finally called. The nurse didn't exactly have a great bedside manner, and I'm not sure bare feet in Crocs is up to public health code. I'm pretty sure she insulted my size when asking if I needed the "other blood pressure arm cuff", still not sure what she meant by that. She then asked me to repeat the symptoms that I had already listed on the bazillion pages of paperwork I filled out while waiting. She wrote very slowly (shouldn't there be shorthand for congestion and watery eyes at an allergist's office?). The corners of the examining table were worn down exposing the cotton (again, I don't think that's up to health code) and the nurse used a thermometer that has probably been around since the 1970s. By the time the doctor finally made it in, I was ready to leave. But we had a good conversation about my symptoms and some possible solutions so I scheduled another appointment for a scratch test. (It was supposed to be done that day but they had forgotten to let me know that I couldn't take certain prescriptions ahead of time.) Day of the scratch test involved another long wait, so I left to go to Starbucks. They didn't appreciate that. Day 2 of scratch test, the unpleasant nurse returned, this time in flip flops (seriously? this can't be sanitary). She mentioned that I probably shouldn't have been scheduled for scratch tests two days in a row cause it would be hard on my skin. Great. Subsequent visit was made with the physician's assistant, and I really liked her. She recommended allergy shots, yay! And gave me some other good advice. I guess the jury is still out, but I'm coming around to thinking that my doctor wasn't so crazy for recommending this place after all. But i still want that nurse to put on some socks and shoes. And please, a little upgrade to the decor and some current magazines would go a long way.

Today was the last straw with this practice. They wanted me to sign consents to be seen, but they…read moredid not have the consents for me to actually review. The woman at the desk was extremely unfit for her position, complaining about this reasonable request under her breath right in front of me and basically threatening that I would have to reschedule. An office manager had to email them to the front desk to print them for me which for some reason took 30 minutes. Today I needed a well-visit and I needed a medical fitness form signed for the Illinois Secretary of State (I have been in remission from relapsing-remitting MS for ten years and do not currently see a neurologist). Christa Harlan-Egan refused to sign the form on the basis that she couldn't see neuro notes from 10+ years ago. When I asked her what ten year old neurology notes would tell her about my current condition more so than a current physical assessment, the absence of any neurological or neuromuscular complaints in the 8 or so years I've been seen by the practice or, I don't know, the fact that I am a inpatient obstetric nurse and professional yoga instructor? She then walked out of the room citing that the appointment started late and the next patient was here, so I would have to reschedule. I will never forgive the unprofessionalism of virtually every person I encountered at that office displayed today. I did sound off about this in local Facebook groups and many are leaving this practice generally and have complaints about Dr. Harlan-Egan specifically for rude and unprofessional behavior. My husband says he doesn't feel strongly about his doctor and will also leave the group.

it's a shame that some of the best doctors i've ever seen are stuck working at a facility with 0…read moreregard for their patients and their time. I've now had two appointments cancelled without my consent or request with no assistance to reschedule. I'm not sure if this is an internal issue or a matter of this Rush acquisition but i'm at a complete loss on how to proceed. I love my doctor but they've made it impossible to keep seeing them.

My husband and I get allergy shots (down to once/month) and our allergies are well controlled at this point. Dr. Mora was the only person who successfully diagnosed my fungal lip infection. Between three doctos, I was given antibiotics at first. Since this was fungal and not bacterial, they were a useless step. Finally, Dr. Mora and prescribed two medications for fungal infections. They did the trick! Dr. Mora also treated me when I had a severe case of pneumonia. It's a slowly moving condition, but I was eventually fine. The office staff is friendly and efficient, too. I always have a great experience there. I'm eternally grateful for the care we receive there, and highly recommend them to anyone who wants good care for their allergies or even similar symptoms that may turn out to be something else.
