Stopped by this store today and was excited to bring my daughter in with me and I was instantly overcome with nostalgia. The Hallmark Shop feels just like it did when I was a child. We browsed the store a bit and was happy to see there's even an upstairs with stationary and office supplies. After finding the Birthday section, my daughter picked the perfect card, brought it to the friendly cashier, and we were on our way. I love this Hallmark store in Montclair on Mountain. The lady and gentleman that run it are super friendly and kind and I think it's the only Hallmark store I know of that is left in the Bay Area that I can go to. I'm throwing a 5th birthday party for my daughter and her 2 best friends in a few weeks and stopped by to look at party supplies and balloons and I needed to update my Hallmark address and pick up Valentine's Day cards for teachers. I came yesterday but forgot some Hallmark coupons and the lady behind the counter was really nice in processing my address update. I returned today and she helped me quickly locate perfect teachers cards for V day. I'll be back for the party supplies we need ahead of the party, including balloons. Please support this small South Asian owned business and buy cards and your party supplies and stationary here instead of on Amazon. It's nice to be able to browse and buy in person! There is no substitute in value in supporting a business and having the purchase in your hand immediately. No boxes or unnecessary wasteful packaging that damages the earth either. read more

I am glad we have a hallmark in Oakland and I always try to support them. I just tried to use them to inflate my balloons and was extremely disappointed that the balloons deflated within 12 hours. The balloons I get from party city lasts for weeks so I am not sure if they use "different" helium but I definitely will not come here again for balloons! read more

Well stocked with a variety of cards I don't find at most Hallmark stores. I ended up leaving with $60 worth of cards (when I normally leave with maybe $15 max at other stores). The employees working there were very courteous and though Montclair Village is a bit out of the way for me, this may very well become my go to card store! Parking is street parking or you can park at Lucky's if you plan to shop there. On the week days street parking isn't hard to find but the weekend with the farmer's markets make it a bit trickier. read more

I came in to Montclair Annie's Hallmark Shop and I was looking into some display and greeting cards where the floor employee and the cashier (I think he was also the manager at that time) told me that those items are for sale and if you're not going to buy anything, you can leave. Annie's is a tiny little Hallmark store on the main road of the village. It is perfectly nestled in with a couple of banks, shipping stores, flower shops, and drugstores. While they don't have as many card option as most Hallmark stores, they have everything you need, and definitely a better selection than the CVS a block away. What's up with all the 5-star reviews for a simple card shop? Easy: it's the customer service. From the helpful woman who took my balloon order over the phone, to the very friendly and easy-going man (owner?) at the counter who assisted me with loading my car full of helium balloons, I found my experience at Annie's to be remarkable enough to, well, come home and remark about it. Besides refreshingly friendly service, the balloons were way cheaper than what I've paid at other businesses, and perhaps best of all, on a busy Saturday, I was in and out in less than 2 minutes. (They had my balloons ready and waiting for me at the register when I walked in!) In my quick sweep around the store, I was further impressed by the variety of cards, paper sources and office supplies available. I've never really thought about being "a regular" at a card shop, but if I lived even remotely close to this establishment, this is where I'd come to satisfy all of my papyri needs. read more

I was on the hunt for a certain Christmas ornament, for friends who just bought a home. I called and a nice gentleman answered and told me that he would put one on hold for me. They close at 6 o'clock, but he told me that if I got there before 6:30 he would still be there. I arrived around 6:15, the doors were locked, but he opened up the store just so that I could get the ornament. They were already counting the till from the day, so he told me to come back and pay him. He said that I looked very trustworthy! WOW...I don't know how many businesses would ever give something hoping that the customer will come back and pay off their tab. I couldn't leave without handing the gentleman my business card, just so that he would know how to hunt me down for the $15 that I owed him! I went back and paid him later that week! I am very disappointed in the service I received at Annie's Hallmark. Today (10/20/16) I drove 30 mins to come in during the Buy 1 Get 1 Free Xmas card sale. Every year I purchase Unicef boxed cards to take advantage of this offer and never had an issue until today at Annie's Hallmark. The owner Ms. Patel was extremely rude and refused to honor the Buy 1 Get 1 deal for the Unicef cards. When I told her this offer was honored on Unicef cards at other stores in previous years (Steve's Hallmark in Fremont and Grace's Hallmark in Pleasanton) Ms. Patel claimed these other franchises were doing so incorrectly. When I pointed out that even the Hallmark.com website has Unicef cards listed with the Buy 1 Get 1 offer, Ms. Patel claimed the Hallmark website was different from the franchises. I told her this did not make sense as Hallmark stores should offer the same deals as the Hallmark website otherwise it is false advertising! I have been a Hallmark Crown Rewards platinum member for many years and I am really disappointed with the arrogant treatment I received at Annie's Hallmark. When I called the store later, the owner Ms. Patel stated she had looked up Unicef cards on the Hallmark website to research my claim. I found this interesting as she made no effort to investigate my issue or help me further while I was in the actual store. More interestingly, Ms. Patel confirmed there were certain Unicef cards that were being offered as Buy 1 Get 1 on the Hallmark website. I told her those are the cards I would have bought if she had correctly followed Hallmark's pricing. The owner Ms. Patel seems like she is not interested in running a honest business, but rather does whatever it takes to shortchange customers in order to make a buck. I WILL NEVER SHOP AT ANNIE'S HALLMARK. ***Check out the photo I uploaded which clearly shows the Buy 1 Get 1 offer for a Unicef boxed card on the Hallmark website. It is extremely questionable that the owner would not honor this deal*** UPDATE on 10/22/16: Went to Steve's Hallmark in Fremont and they honored the Buy 1 Get 1 offer on all Xmas boxed cards (including Unicef) with no fuss whatsoever. I have been going to hallmark, all my life it seems. They always have what I am looking for in cards,and they also have cards I would never think of giving people but good to know, such as congrats on your weight loss, congrats on your adopted child. They also have unicef cards which is a great way to give back. I also like that they have a office supplies. And if there is something you need in the office supplies and they do not have in stock, they will order it just for you! How cool is that. And It comes in the next week! Terry is the woman that helps out with office supplies she really knows everything! The staff is great, they are helpful, kind, and make you want to return to the store. The owner is a very nice man, he is always fun to talk to, it is nice to go to a place where the owner knows you by name, and remembers items you liked. read more

It's a place to buy cards. I don't think there is too much to describe about the process of picking out a card, but suffice to say the selection is good, and there is an office supply selection upstairs, as well. The reason I will return here every time I need a card of some variety, is that the customer service is excellent. Everybody always has a smile for you, and is always there if you have any questions. This review is based on multiple visits over the course of several years. First and foremost, the 5 star review here is for the customer service I've gotten. While I probably only go in to this store 3-4 times a year, I'm constantly impressed by the help I get here - especially from one gentleman who I think is a (the?) manager. There are at least two instances I remember: 1) A couple of years ago I bought a whole bunch of gift bags to give my clients goodies for the holidays - the above-mentioned gentleman saw that I was buying several of these bags (maybe 20-25?) and OFFERED a discount. I think they didn't have enough of the bag that I wanted, so he gave me some of my second choice on the cheap! 2) On another occasion, the same guy was just too nice and accomodating: I think this was the day postage went up by 2 cents awhile ago. The post office just a few doors down was PACKED! I really needed to get out a few letters and asked the Hallmark store if they had stamps for sale. I was told, that they don't offer them for sale, but this guy walked me back to an office and sells me a page of these stamps from their own supply. WOW! Besides greeting cards, this location has small gifts, gift wrap and even a stationary section upstairs. If you're in need of a birthday card for that buddy or (guys listen up!) an anniversary card or some stationary supplies, give Annie's Hallmark some business - in my experience, they provide a level of customer care not easily found these days. read more

EXCELLENT service, and great products. I've been here multiple times to get misc. items. A couple of weeks ago i had to scour all montclair for some calculator receipt paper for work, and even though this place was my last thought, they had exactly what I needed. More recently, I needed to get a very specific type of greeting card, and the one I found almost made me cry (in a good way). The customer service here is incredible. They make sure you find EXACTLY what you want, with personable and quick service. I would come here in a second if I ever need any of the products they sell. read more

I was extremely shocked that they don't think Appreciating our Teachers was not anything important. Especially when everyone has had a hard year especially our teachers. I really wanted my kids to be able to do something for their teacher to say Thank You. They picked out an ornament, ornament stands and Thank you Teacher cards. I received both ornaments, 1 of the 2 stands and no cards. Is this Hallmark??? I called to find out and no one could tell me where they were or when I would get them. I ordered these items on the 29th of April 2021 I was suppose to receive them on Monday, it is now the 5th of May 2021 and still nothing. I called, emailed and so on they keep sending me what is obviously a recording full of CRAP! Trust me you are better off having your creative kiddo make their teachers card! read more

After three rude encounters with the folks at this store I think I need to write a review. First, I ordered greeting cards online at Hallmark.com and had them delivered to this store. Big mistake. When I arrived to pick them up the owner informed me that Hallmark had not "released" the cards and would not give them to me even though the cards had arrived and I had a receipt. It was a mess and the owner was rude. I then received a $10 gift card from Hallmark.com due to the trouble the store had previously given me. I tried to make a purchase with the gift card and the employees behaved as though they'd never seen a gift card before. They were again rude and dismissive. Strike two. And finally, the owner, who was rude as usual, scoffed at me when I questioned why a yearly wall calendar was priced at $18 when it was already February. He stated "most people buy calendars in February" Really??? Come on man. Then he sucked his teeth like a defiant teenager as I left. I will never go to this store again. Yes it's convenient but its also overpriced with minimal selection and a rude owner. I'm done. read more

I was so impressed with the service and highly recommend it. I called the store because it's down the hill from my sisters whose birthday was coming up and I wanted to get her a nice bouquet of balloons. Prity (spelling?) who answered the phone was so helpful, she texted me pictures of the balloon options, made sure the one I liked was not sold out, made suggestions for what might be prettiest, and was immediately super responsive whenever I followed up even when she was not working. The balloons were all ready to go when my brother in law came by to pick them up and she let me know as soon as that happened. I really think she went above and beyond and I can't wait to visit the store in person next time I visit Oakland Hills. read more

I went to this shop a little over a week ago. I found a bunch of wonderful things. I went to the counter to pay for my purchases, the total came up to 128.00. I asked the older lady if she could take my one hundred dollar bill.(she wasn't the owner). She looked a little worried and tried to read it with the special light they have to make sure it wasn't counterfeit. She didn't know what she was doing and decided not to take the bill. I said fine, I could run across the street to luckys and get change or I could use my prepaid Visa gift cards. She rang up a few, then answered the phone and all of a sudden said that she wouldn't take my gift cards. The store was about to close, there were still customers waiting to pay for their items. The cashier then told me that she would keep my gift cards and the items that I wanted to buy and I could pick them up the next day. I told her that was unacceptable, either void the transaction and give me my cards back or give me the items that I was paying for. I was calm the whole time. She got upset, took the items that I wanted to purchase off the counter and started walking to the door. I told her to wait, that I had 80.00 cash in small bills and I could buy most of the items. She said no, come back tomorrow and she pushed me out the door and locked it. I was dumbfounded, I wasn't allowed to buy anything? My cash and my gift cards were no good. So I had to leave, she didn't make the other customers leave. I was going to come back to the store the next day and talk to a manager about the horrible customer service i had received. After thinking it over, I decided not to go back to the hallmark store. I was afraid that if I saw that old lady again I just might say something really rude to her. Hallmark will never get my money, I have never been treated that way in a store ever. If she was worried that i was a crook or scam artist, she should have called the police. I LOVE this store. My family and I make a tradition of buying our annual ornaments. We've been going to this store for years. Mohammad, the owner, is such a sweet and lovely gentleman. Mohammad has watched my family grow - from dating to engagement to marriage to one child to two to three. He always has a generous gift for us when we shop there. Annie's Hallmark always has a great collection of items. Definitely one of my favorite stores. We've moved out of Montclair and have a Hallmark store close by, but the store doesn't have Mohammad and his customer-friendly, personable staff. My local store also doesn't have Mohammad, who is just a gem. read more

I was looking for a present for a friend's 80th birthday and Mrs Patel, the owner, was very helpful with suggestions. She even texted me photos of possible items, before I arrived at the store, as I was coming from Fremont. She went above and beyond in my opinion. This Hallmark store is well stocked with a wide variety of cards, gifts and stationery for all occasions. The owners are friendly, knowledgeable and customer service is great. This store used to be great when the former owner was in charge. There were funny cards, musical cards, high end cards as well as less expensive cards. Now the store is half empty and what is there is really crap. I always used to find appropriate cards they and now I can't find anything. The cards are all cheap and stupid. It's really sad coz Montclair deserves a good card shop. Maybe Papyrus should open up here. read more
