I recently ordered a cake for a party of 30 adults. I chose Lochel's because I'd heard that they make a cannoli cream cake. My review is based on two issues, size recommended, and lack of cannoli flavor (with the exception of some cute mini cannoli decorations). The employee I spoke with on the phone was very nice. We discussed that I'd have a few other dessert offerings but that I wanted enough for everyone. They strongly recommended a half sheet cake , saying it feeds 35. The cake was gorgeous, but it was literally tremendous (very big and high) and twice the amount needed. It would have been enough for 45 people . I cut huge slabs of cake and still had half of it leftover. I froze some and gave a lot away , but for $210 , I could definitely have ordered a smaller cake and saved a lot of money. The second issue was the cake itself. It was very fresh, and tasted good (I admit , once I got over my disappointment). The cake was chocolate chip with a yummy buttercream chocolate frosting. However, I wouldn't have chosen to spend this much on a cake if it wasn't for the cannoli cream, my favorite. Besides the decorations , no one could tell it was a cannoli cream cake. Everyone said that it was beautiful, but we were all disappointed because we expected something different. When I emailed the owner regarding these two issues , his only response was to say that the cake was very fresh. He was otherwise defensive and didn't offer anything to compensate me. I'd recommend this bakery if you're looking for a fancy custom cake, (but not necessarily the cannoli cake) , but the Sam's Club chocolate mousse cake for $19 got higher reviews from my guests (it was truly exceptional). Addendum; since the cake was fresh and tasted nice I wouldn't not have written this review had the owner compensated me for my for selling a much larger cake than needed, and the lack of substantial cannoli flavor. My wife and i stopped in looking for something to have as dessert for a romantic dinner. "Let's try here" we said liking the idea of supporting a local business. They have largish cakes for around $12-13 and small specialty items for $6-7. I convinced my wife we should get the black and white chocolate roll cake. for the price of the cake we'd get two smaller things and it looked good. Got it home, had dinner and dessert. The cake was...meh. The buttercream was nice and the cream in the roll but the cake itself was a little dry and didn't really have much of a chocolate flavor. It pretty much existed as a frosting delivery service-something you can eat to carry the frosting to your mouth rather than having an identity for itself. If you're doing a kid's birthday or an office party this is fine but not for that something special. read more

Wooohooo!! These cookies are ALL THAT!!! They taste amazing! I placed an order and paid over the phone and my daughter's mother in law picked them up for me. I also asked for 2 vanilla cupcakes with white frosting and sooty- no pictures- they're history- deeelicious!! If you follow the bakery- Lochel's is well known for their election cookies! The staff used to be warm and welcoming. Now they greet you with the enthusiasm of a TSA agent who's missed lunch, and the ego in this place could fill a three-tier wedding cake. Look, the croissants are flaky, but so is the customer service...except theirs flakes in the bad way. At this point, I'd rather eat a mediocre cookie from somewhere else than endure another condescending "Can I help you?" that clearly means "Why are you bothering me?" Congrats to the bakery for becoming the only place where the sugar is sweet but the people are not. I'll miss the pastries... but not the personality. read more

Their cakes are OK. Underwhelming for the price, but the cookies were definitely dry both times I purchased them. However the biggest problem is their rude and hateful online behavior, even joking on their facebook page about decorating baked goods to look like Epstein Island. It's unconscionable and now that I know this is the kind of people they are, I will never spend another dollar there. Nonno's across the street has incredible cannolis and I intend to try lots more from now on. Shame on Lochel's. read more

The bakery is one of the best I've been to and such a cute storefront! I've had many goodies from this local gem near Philly (Hatboro) and always great service and amazing treats. Cheesecake, birthday cake, cupcakes, cream puffs, cookies, peanut butter bars and scones, to name a few. I've also had items shipped to me in Co. (where I mostly live). Communication is great from start to finish and all the items arrived in tact, fresh, amazing and packed very well. I highly recommend this amazing bakery!!!! read more

This place...... All hype. Period. Everything in here is decent. It's all good, some items may be better than good. However, it's filled with artificial flavoring, HFCS, carrageenan and other low quality ingredients one shouldn't expect from a local bakery that prides itself on quality. Stopped in last Saturday to get 6 cupcakes. The girl smushed them into a plastic container. I looked at them and said these are all smushed. She then says I'll get you a new set and place them in a box for you. Ok perfect. Came home and after dinner pulled out the box to surprise everyone with dessert. Well they were disgusting!!! They were stale, dry, and just GROSS!!!! Very disappointed. Why call or go back and complain cause this place doesn't care and they are rude when they don't like what they hear. read more

We've been to this bakery quite a few times in the past and love their butter cake. We decided to order our Thanksgiving pies from here, an apple crumb and pumpkin pie. The pickup process was a pain as they only had one person collecting the pies and going to the other side of the store to process the cards. We also got some baked goods from the bakery too and had to wait in another line. Thoughts on the pies, the apple crumb was good but there was too much cinnamon and not enough sugar in the crumb topping. The pumpkin pie was also good but the crust was lacking flavor. In the past, we got an apple, caramel walnut pie and loved it. I think I'll stick to that and not the other pies. We also ordered a cheese danish, brownie, eclair, apple cider donut, a big linzer cookie and 2 small linzer cookies. The baked goods were pretty good, we really liked the brownie and donut. The others were fine but nothing memorable. Overall, I would stick to the butter cake and our favorite pie. I can also recommend the brownies and donuts. read more

This bakery is all hype. Their baked goods are all way too sweet. Their danish is covered in so much icing, they are completely white!!! Their donuts are average and way overpriced. Just about everything is overpriced. And, the bakery itself is so, so small inside, it's ridiculous. They have three storefronts, yet they didn't expand the bakery?? If you see a line outside, it's because customers can't fit inside! Too many better bakeries in the area! If you want pastry and cakes, cross the street an go to Nonno's. If you want the best donuts, drive down to Street Rd. in Warminster and go to Yum Yum, plus a new French bakery has opened just steps away!! PS...The owner has a really bad attitude!! read more

Besides the beautiful and tasty goodies we got here, I just wanted to say how extremely personable and friendly the young man was that waited on me and my daughter last week. He was just so sweet (not to embarrass him) but its hard these days to find people that actually want to help and be friendly. We went in just before closing and he didnt act like he wanted us to hurry and engaged in a nice conversation. This young man is an absolute asset to your business.
