Nice atmosphere. Plenty of menu options. I ordered the lemon blueberry mimosa...very tasty. I also ordered the Mardi Gras omelette which was delicious and full of seafood and sausage. The grits, not so much....soupy...taste like water. I couldn't add enough cheese and salt to them to make them taste better. However, I will return to try other items on the menu...they all look good. We stopped in for breakfast as we were looking for a new place to try. We were greeted and seated immediately. It took approximately 20 minutes for a server to acknowledge we were there and to get us some water. She then left and it was another 15 minutes before she came back for our order. They were not busy or short staffed -- the staff was just extremely leisurely in waiting on tables. I ordered the biscuit and gravy with sausage and breakfast potatoes. Husband ordered an omelette with fruit. We then waited another 20 minutes for the food to come out. Food finally arrived. It was warm, but not hot. I'm not sure what they add to their sausage, but it was inedible for me. Had a really strange taste to it. Husband tried it and didn't like it either. The biscuit was good, but again, the sausage gravy also had the same strange taste to it. The potatoes were very small and overcooked. Husband said his omelette was good, but it was very thin. Fresh fruit was good. The waitress never stopped by to see how things were. $38 for breakfast that was barely edible is not a winner for us. We have no plans to return. read more

First timer! I had the potato sensation with crawfish, shrimp and asparagus topped with cheese and scrambled eggs also 1 pancake bananas foster style with caramel sauce, whipped cream and peacans. To drink I had a coffee with a godiva shot. My only hang up was that the scrambled eggs looked like they came out of a carton which is a bit disheartening seeing as how they are supposed to use shelled eggs. Overall the food was delish and there were several items on the menu that I would love to try. I will definitely be back but maybe not get the scrambled eggs. My wife and I have eaten in the cafe many times. Ate there this Saturday and it was not what I am used to. Our table was dirty from the previous customers and service was slow to find us after seating on the patio. I want to be clear, the service was good. The consistency from the kitchen is the issue. Our biscuits were cold and wouldn't even melt our butter patties. Our omelets which we've enjoyed many times before were cold and the flavor was off considerably. We were there early so it wasn't as busy as normal and we can't understand why the food wasn't up to their standards. Far from wishing to diminish the Broken Egg we want them to know that they are slipping. We hope they can look over what's happening and get back to being great. We are normally amazed by the food, but Saturday it was meh food not Another Broken Egg food. Please consider this review and get back to your normal standards. I think at this point, two visits several months apart are enough to write a constructive review. The first time I went, the place had just opened. The second time I went, it was recently and the place was still a mob scene. That's a good sign, right? Or it's just a sign that people in Memphis love their weekend breakfast and there is a shortage of places to go in the area on a Saturday morning. The first time I went, I had the Hey Lucy!! It was REALLY good. I ate too much and took a nap that afternoon. I thought "man, that place was awesome, I'm totally going to be back!" So I went back and I wasn't in love. The service was a little on the slow side (although the wait staff was very friendly) and the food was just OK. I had the Southwestern Scramble. The eggs were slightly overcooked and the flavor was a little bland. The one consistency at both visits was the Mimosa. They don't mess around with the size of their Mimosas, so have a DD or take an Uber if you're going to have more than one. Lesson learned! read more

This place is fantastic! The food was absolutely delicious and the portions were large, but what stuck out the most was the service. From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted by such a friendly hostess. Our waitress carried on with the same attitude and always made sure we were taken care of. Staff super rude. Told us not taking reservations while we clearly made it through Yelp. Insisted on putting the infant (6month old) to the high chair, claiming not sufficient space, despite the fact that the reservation clearly included the infant. I had he cinnamon roll French toast and it was really good but too rich to eat for one person, so I'm glad my mom and I split that. We also had the Benedict Oscar and that was really good!!!! People who eat out a lot know that if you go back regularly to even the best restaurants, sooner or later you'll have a bad experience. And you tell yourselves that you've been lucky overall and you ignore it. Well, there's nothing to ever worry about when you dine here. The wait staff is superb - even when they are covered up with customers ... which happens a lot. The menu items are outstanding and the kitchen really knows what they are doing. Today we had Maranda as our server and she is always top notch. Her pleasant demeanor is an example for everyone to see and be around. In fact, I see a lot of the same wait staff here time and time again and I hope this means that management treats them well. The standout today was Tara (Tarah?), our hostess. This young lady was the rainmaker today for Another Broken Egg. She was busing tables, seating people, keeping track of the wait list, etc. And the whole time she was displaying a positive attitude for her customers. Other restaurants can take a cue from Another Broken Egg for what to do right. I suspect the takeaway would be to hire good people, train them well and do what you can to retain them. I don't know how this restaurant does it, but this place rocks! read more
