Felt extremely judged walking in here. Wasn't in my usual attire (was in a bright outfit and walked in with my family) off the bat the person at register with short purple highlighted hair rolled their eyes at us... okay I walked in and their focus was just on us the entire time, no hello and no acknowledgement at all. I walked up to shoes I was in fact planning on buying and got yelled at infront of everyone that wa sin the store. I can tell our business wasn't welcomed off the bat which is extremely off putting in a store like this. To clarify there is no sign that says I can't try shoes on and when I asked the tender why there wasn't a sign they yelled at me and said "it's a respect thing" if you come in here not in all black expect this kind of treatment unfortunately. The lady at the desk was extremely rude. I tried to take a photo of some studs to show my mom when this lady with purple hair slammed her hand on the desk and yelled at me for taking a photo. I also found the exact studs they were selling online for less than half the price. This was especially odd because I had gone there a few months prior and had no issue with photos. The shop is really small, but packed with lots of items to look at. It can get a bit crowded and uncomfortable due to the size but their stock is all really unique. I went in looking for some patches and was a little underwhelmed at their selection, but for the space provided it was pretty good. The staff were casual and uncaring, which was sort of nice to not feel pressured. Their prices were pretty spendy, unfortunately I didn't end up buying anything because of that. If you're looking for a shop that sells Hot Topic-like clothes then this is a must see, at least to window shop! read more

The cashier with short purple hair was extremely rude to my party and I from the second we walked in. We were initially interested in shirts and in some of the shoes that were off to the side so my sister picked up one of the SANDALS that was on the wall and was trying it on when the cashier yelled across the store for everyone else in there to turn and stare at us and in the bi***iest tone told her to put the shoes back and to ask before grabbing the shoes. There was no sign on that shoe wall that stated her "requirements" and no socks for her to put on to try them on either. How were we supposed to know this? Especially without any acknowledgment at the door. The cashier clearly saw us looking at shoes because when we were standing there they looked annoyed with us, so why not give good customer service and state that before letting us grab it off the wall and trying to shame us? We didn't fit the "vibe" of the store and that's why i'm assuming we got the treatment we got. my sister went back in to see if there was a sign and apologize if there was, but once she realized there wasn't a sign she took her phone out and was yelled "Don't take a picture" the cashier then proceeded to yell at her very unprofessionally and called her feet sweaty and said it was a " respect" thing. if you want to be yelled at by a miserable person this is the spot for ya, if you want a sweet and opening experience to all i highly recommend "Alien mermaid cove" a couple doors down from this negative establishment. read more

Best store in Portland. Love the selection, the rans, the style, the service. You can probably get it all on line but then you would miss out on Portland heart, Portland history, and Portland cool. Prices and sizes are pretty similar to what can be had online from my experience. And everything isn't just XS and S. Larger sizes are available on the regular. Owners and staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and committed to alternative style, clothing, accessories, and home accents that are not available with most other retailers. I have been looking for a clothing store resource where I can find some goth clothing and such. This place almost fit for me. They have a lot of merchandise in a small space. They have body jewelry, jewelry, punk pants for guys, shirts for guys, ditto on both of those for the ladies also as well as dresses, rock t-shirts, posters and more! Amazingly rude. I opened the door for just a second and the woman behind the counter jumps out and says in a hostile tone as she's making the cutting gesture at her throat, "We're actually at capacity!" How was I supposed to know from outside the store? There is no sign other than that there's a maximum of 4 at a time and you can't see in from outside to know this. Of course they probably can't afford to pay a person to stand at the door and let folks know when it's okay to come in since it's a small business. I don't need anyone to hold my hand when I'm shopping and prefer to not be bothered actually, but I felt verbally attacked by this person before I even got a chance to appreciate what was inside the store. I would rather give my money to an underpaid restaurant worker who barely acknowledges my presence and forgets my drink than shop here. read more

My family was super excited to come here and the store has a lot of cool stuff, but the service and vibe wasn't worth it. The person behind the counter was rude, especially to our daughter, and obviously in a hurry to get us out. We didn't feel comfortable taking our time to shop because there's only 4 people allowed at a time and we had 4 people. Every time I've been to this shop I've always had a great experience. However, today made me feel uncomfortable ever buying from this store again. I bought my beloved Demonia's from here a few months ago and the person who sold them to me was so lovely. The shoes recently broke on me, specifically the platform separated from the rest of the shoe, and I was devastated! I unfortunately misplaced my receipt and thought it was worth a shot to see if the shop possibly still had history of my transaction with them. I was trying to get my receipt so I could go through the manufacture specifically and I made that clear. The person who helped me was extremely cold. As someone who works in customer service I've never been so offended by the interaction that I just had in the shoes of a customer. The associate was extremely cold to me and made it a point that I was being an inconvenience for asking for a new copy of the receipt. Pretty much the only place in town to purchase the coveted Special Effects hair colour and worth the trip. There is always something for the old school crowd. Need a t shirt to add to your collection for bands like The Ramones? Siouxsie and the Banshees? Blondie? The Misfits? You'll find it here. It is a stalwart and an original and is a helluva lot more fun than going to a Hot Topic and being assaulted by horrible music. Like I said, it's the only place I know of to get Special Effects hair colour and it's what keeps me coming back. Located right on the foot of the Burnside Bridge around the corner from Voo Doo Donuts this place is great for the aspiring punk as well as the old timers who appreciate 77 style and Goth. I love this store......hands down the best place for punk/goth/industrial and black metal clothing and accessories in Portland. My only two request is that they would carry the shirts up to XXL and offer an actual webstore with a cart system etc. Living in Los Angeles for 38 years I have been spoiled with an overflow of shops like this but for the past 5 years I have been in Grants Pass dying to find something like this here in Oregon. Like I said great place, awesome product, perfect pricing, and a friendly owner what more could you ask for. When in Portland it's a definite stop. It is amazing if you like handmade leather goods, punk music and clothing, cult and horror movies, goth apparel, etc. the list goes on and on. Worst customer service ever! The butch worker with her painted on eyebrows had the worst attitude I have ever had to deal with in customer service. I had to stand there for like 10 minutes and hover over the counter while she played chatty cathy with some other guy that wasn't even a customer. When I finally got her attention in the 10 x 20 square foot room she rudely helped my look at merch. Couldn't find any rings or shirts that would fit because everything is bought to entertain the homeless street kid market. Can't afford food? GREAT, you will fit into this shirt that I won't give a damn about selling to you. Totally was annoyed that she had to do her job. I am sorry you have to work and run your pathetic punk store. Place has a tiny selection. You would be better off going to the mall. The employee had such a " I'm too punk attitude ". This is a mediocre shop, with mediocre punk and metal merch.
