The name of this store is Coco & Toulouse Go Shopping. Perhaps a name change? It's the same location. So not to change the subject but the woman behind the counter was delightful. She was just opening up the shop when we arrived and I was perplexed. Years ago I recall that Sellwood was a mecca for antique shops - no longer the case. It was just plain bleak. And being a Friday nothing along the lines of antique shopping were open when we were there (before 11 am) which was a bit frustrating considering it's a hot one today (100 degrees) and my only day off with the Mrs. This boutique is enchanting - mostly all things feminine - clothing, jewelry, accessories, candles, soaps, stationary, etc. but being a resourceful dude that I am I found a treasure for me. I'm a baker, a cook and a foodie. I found an excellent addition to my cookbook library - "My Little French Kitchen" all things french cuisine. The great thing about our visit was how personable and friendly the store clerk treated us. I shared with her a fail-safe recipe for baking homemade crust and we engaged in a lively conversation regarding zucchinis. The best part is her warm and genuine attitude made me forget all about Sellwood's dismal offering of antique shops and made our trip worthwhile. read more

I fell in love with a faux ostrich tote online. Ordered it through Coco and Toulouse explaining that I was going on vacation in 7 days and would love to have it for the flight. These bags hold so much. I ordered it on Monday. Today is Wednesday and I just found it in my mailbox. I am so impressed. Although we live in Eugene, about two hours away, I thought maybe Saturday. What a lovely and charming boutique. Plenty of giftables to look and and touch, you can't help but want to buy every single thing in the store. Everything is curated well from unknown brands to designer brands. If you're looking for a gift for a special someone whether it's an appreciation gift, housewarming or jewelry, this is the place! I haven't had issue with the customer service before, so that's a shame other people did. What a disappointment! We were here Summer 2015. Made a major detour on our way home from Walla Walla to Reno because of the rave review we heard in a chance meeting with a charming woman in a Dalles coffee shop. Spent a bundle in the store followed by a phone order made by my sister and myself. This summer as we planned our bi-annual family reunion we eagerly anticipated making our return visit, adding an extra day to our travel schedule specifically for our Coco and Toulouse pilgrimage. While we did make a substantial purchase, the service we received was so substandard, we walked out of the store stating, "No need to come back here." Don't like being ignored, received no offer of assistance while we were trying on the clothes, the lights and air were turned off before we finished trying on the last of our purchases, friendliness was marginal at best." Whatever happened between our delightful experience in 2015 and today's is a travesty. It was obvious the two clerks enjoyed each other but felt no inclination to connect with us or assure our shopping pleasure. Cute clothes yes! Customer service no! First and only time I went into the store I was totally impressed by the clothes. It's a bit on the pricey side, but the clothes and items are cute. Unfortunately, you are on your own if you have an issue. I purchased a black cotton jacket that had a problem with one of the two buttons. Rather than dealing with the issue directly, they suggested to go purchase a new button. Keep in mind - this item had not even been worn and still had the price and garment tags attached. Get your act together and I'd consider coming back! You've got to back your product otherwise what good are you to your customers? read more

I've been shopping here for a good 15 years and have been more than impressed and delighted with the variety of unique clothing and gift items, and have always had impeccable and professional customer service until yesterday. I venture to say I've spent a few thousand dollars here over the years on expensive items I love; clothing, jewelry and shoes. I'm an artist and designer and to me, shopping is a creative process and it's fun. I've worked in retail and understand the bottom line is make a sale, also keep costs down. As a customer, the bottom line is enjoy your experience and enjoy what you purchase with a positive feeling of wanting to come back again. Sales are great, sometimes the full price is no issue. The point is, enjoy yourself, like what you purchase, want to come back. No more. This ladies wallet is zipped tight, and I probably bought the wallet there; a Hobo... After completing my purchase, the salesclerk was so kind as to put it in a small gift bag with one piece of tissue as I was buying a few items as a gift. I asked for a second bag to purchase for a second gift and she said to me, "Oh, no that is free", so she put the smaller bag with the small items I had purchased in the bag and I was on my way out, and was quite pleased and as usual happy with my purchase and the service, when the second clerk who was present during the whole transaction, proceeded to dress me down and advise me that in the future they don't provide bags or tissue for sale items. Her tone was pleasant; the content was rude. I was embarrassed and felt shamed and put on the spot. I advised her I had offered to pay for it. She said it was fine this time, but no extras next time. I asked what the extra was and she pointed to my purchase which had been put in the tiniest bag with one piece of tissue. I was stunned that she could be so petty as to take it to a higher level of insult and was not satisfied with her first piece of in the future, but had to then advise me the gift was also an extra and wouldn't be happening again if it were on sale. The clerk who had helped me apologized to me and said she didn't know. I told her it was fine, it was the kind of thing that should have been addressed with her after I, the customer left the store. As I drove off I felt humiliated and called the store about 1/2 hour later and gave my critical feedback to the clerk who had been so rude. I also called a personal friend of mine who happens to work there and told her what had happened. She offered to provide me with the owner's phone number and I called the owner. The owner called me back and apologized that I "felt" the way I did, but did not apologize for the unprofessional customer service, the way a policy she was supporting was managed and admonished me for talking to another employee about this and told me, that in the future, not to discuss anything with another employee. I had already told her she was a personal friend. It seems to me, what transpired was misrepresented to the employer, most likely to cover their rear ends and the employer took the feedback personally and focused on the policy not the process of what had transpired. She kept repeating, they, they, were just following her directives. I pointed out it was not about they, but about just one employee who was present for the whole transaction and chose to shame me after the sale was completed. The clerk who helped me was not informed of the policy, however, the owner didn't seem to hear me. Perhaps she is not all that comfortable with her policy, I don't know and don't care. The bottom line is the customer's experience in my opinion. Hence, customer service went out the window. I tried to explain to her it was not about the policy at all, but the way it was mismanaged and pulled me into an employee training issue whilst it could have been addressed quite easily in the front end of the purchase when the salesclerk first agreed to put the small items in a small gift bag with one piece of tissue. I would have had no issue and been completely understanding and been fine with a plain paper bag; or don't you get any bags at all if it's a sale item? Although the owner provided me with the work days of the employee who insulted me as I advised I wouldn't be coming back on any days she worked to avoid feeling uncomfortable, the conversation ended with me feeling almost as bad as I did after the sale! This was not about a policy or saving a few pennies, it was all about customer service, or lack of and not being heard. I WON'T BE BACK. MY DOLLARS ARE HARD TO COME BY AND I'M WELL AWARE OF PROFIT MARGINS AND MARKUPS IN RETAIL FASHION. I'M ALSO WELL VERSED IN BEING TREATED WITH DIGNITY AND RESPECT WHILE HAVING A FUN PROCESS OF SHOPPING. COCO NOT. I HOPE THE $4 SALE ITEM WAS WORTH THE HUMILIATION AND LOSS OF A CUSTOMER OF MORE THAN 15 YEARS. read more

After living near Westmoreland for 9 years, I finally made my way into Coco's. Being typically drawn to more modern environments, I never felt compelled. I was pleasantly surprised to find an awesome selection of boutique clothing that I really liked, and a well curated selection of gifts - seemed like they had a little something for everyone. Some more girlie/frilly, some cool & funky. Here's my one complaint, and it seems like a common one amongst reviewers - I was not greeted or acknowledged until *I* approached them with a question. However a couple of other folks walked in while I was shopping who were greeted enthusiastically. It had me wondering what about my appearance made them feel like I wasn't worth the effort. Was I dressed shabbily? Was it because my (awesome) kid was with me? Who knows, but I was put off a bit by that. I really love this store! There's a little bit of everything really, cards and paper products, home decor, fragrances, jewelry, accessories and toys, humorous gifts. But the thing that impressed me the most was the clothes! So many of my favorite styles all in one place! Unique and funky cut linen dresses, soft cotton and other beautiful styles in natural fabrics. Some of my favorite brands, Kleen, Chalet, too many to remember. Hard to find elsewhere and so much variety. Lots of sizes available was nice too, from XS to XL. Pricey, around $65-200 an item, but there was a long wall sized sale rack, I purchased an asymmetrical linen tank dress on sale for $56, love it. The dressing rooms are very chic and roomy. I found the customer service friendly, was offered a fitting room as soon as I had my arm full. She checked on me in the fitting room and offered to bring me different sizes, attentive and kind, not pushy. There was a sidewalk sale going on and it was pretty crowded. Note: They don't open till 11:00 am, most the stores around there are the same. This is my new go to place when I have a little money to splurge with! read more
