I really like Dr Patel, he's tough but only wants the best for you... The office ladies are very nice. Overall the type of care is good..

Been putting up with this guy for about 3 years, he is constantly pushing his limits and is verbally disrespectful. He travels a lot and cancels appointments, office hours are inconsistent... but the first time you say anything about his office staff not having paperwork ready on time, he raises his voice. I was attempting to explain why my blood results came back late, and this little guy interrupted to tell me, I'm the problem. Me coming back, an extra trip back, to get the same blood order request I've been getting for 3 years, is appropriate to him, instead of his office having them ready at the end of my appointment. He was so confrontational I told him to watch his mouth. This little guy came unglued, so I told him what I really thought of him. Totally Piece Of Ish. Don't say you weren't warned. Oh and appointments take 2 hours on average. Keep your schedule clear. read more

I think the no star option needs to be available! Any and all negative reviews on Dr Patel are 100% true and accurate! Please do your home work on this Dr. He has multiple listing. Every time a listing gets to many bad reviews, another listing pops up for him. He is rude, unkind and so unprofessional on every level he could be. He told me that he doesn't have time to "f**k around" and if he doesn't see results like he wants to see, he'll drop me. The following month, I came in bringing my numbers down 100 points and having lost 6 lbs. He started riding my ass again and when I pointed out that my numbers and weight have both improved...He said that's a little improvement but it still sucks! He is talking to me about diet and nutrition. As I'm trying to inform him of our living and food situation at home, he cuts me off by saying to just stop talking, be quiet, that all he is hearing are excuses from me. So I cut him off and said, this is just the opposite of that, I'm trying to let him know my current situation and, before he cut me off, how we are coping with it as best we can. I asked him about using OmniPod and he told me no, that I have to earn it and then he'll reccomend it. I filed a complaint with my insurance company and his response was that I was unwilling to take or follow his advice and that I was an unmanaged diabetic and that he never cussed at me or in front of me. If I didn't want to follow my Drs instructions or if I was just being a stubborn fatty, then why did I used the Pod, why did my numbers improve, why did I ask my primary to refer me to another Endocrinologist? On my second visit, after I pointed out my improvement, he did prescribe me the OmniPod. I loved it, it completely makes you notice and accountable for your numbers and results. I was looking forward to taking my Pod into him and shoving it in his face. I continued to lose weight and my numbers barely broke 100. Unfortunately after using four Pods with no issue, my next four Pods were defective. I had to call twice to have replacement Pods sent out. When the first 2 malfunctioned and the next two replacements didn't work either. Now it's time for my third appointment with this Jerk. I'm stressing, having anxiety over the thought of having to go in and tell him what has gone on and why I only have one month of data on my Pod. I'm dreading him telling me all he hears are excuses. I'm trying to prepare myself mentally for what's to come with my next visit. Then I thought, forget him...he's not gonna drop me! I'm gonna drop him! He doesn't deserve me as a patient and he certainly doesn't deserve my insurance payments. This Dr has had his license/practice suspended at least once, maybe more. I told my insurance company that they need to do their homework on the Drs in their network. Read the review, not just on Yelp but on Google too and take them seriously. My primary has yet to schedule me with a new Endocrinologist, but my primary has switched recently too. We'll see who the new primary will recommend. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS DR! IGNORE all of the negative comments about Dr Patel. He's been great to my 84 yr old mother. We've never had a problem - ever. Has an odd sense of humor, but neither of us has ever felt insulted by anything. I think these people complaining are a bunch of self-absorbed, overly impatient crazies who think the world revolves around them. STOT BEING OFFENDED BY EVERYTHING! Most of the patients that come in here and to Foundation Labs, are low income trash with bad attitudes anyway, so I would take all these complaints with a grain of salt. If he's that bad, why are you all crying here instead of the AMA?? LOL. That tells me all I need to know about YOU people. That being said, I do have one issue, but it's not with any of the medical staff in this building. My issue is with the security guards. They're pleasant people, but they are lazy and they do not do much at all, other than open doors for people. That's nice, but they do nothing about parking lot security. We were there a few weeks ago, and since all the handicapped spaces were taken, we had to park elsewhere. Since there was shade, I chose the very back. Worked out ok when we arrived, but when we were walking back to our vehicle, a crackhead guy sped thru the parking lot - passing the security guard - who should've at least known at this point there was something going on. The guy leaves and comes back, parks 2 spaces away, next to a friend of his, gets out and starts yelling and cussing. Heavily tatted and shirtless. Clearly very unstable. I was getting rather concerned - I had my pepper spray and stun gun, but they were in our vehicle & mom insisted we continue to our vehicle. I had offered to have her wait and I'd pick her up at the front door. This was the type of 'crazy' person who you don't even want to make eye contact with. I kept looking over for the security guard, but he was nowhere to be seen. FYI as we arrived earlier, the guard was seen standing in the shade, looking like he was taking a nap. This is not the first time I've seen the security guards napping on the job. I've been trying to get the name of the company they work for, but so far, Foundations Lab is refusing to respond to my requests for that info. I will try to get if from Dr Patel's staff the next time we are there. Employed people should always be held accountable for their actions, or lack thereof, so don't give me any of this "don't be a snitch" crap. This is about everyone's safety. If somebody like that got near one of your elderly family members, how would YOU feel? What good does it do to have security guards if they're not going to patrol the parking lot? Be careful where you park at this facility, if the local crackheads are gonna start hanging out here. I'd recommend carrying pepper spray or a stun gun. I was tempted to call the police, but the local deputies, IMHO, are worthless. read more

If you're a voter guess what, prescriptions are now monitored and scrutinized more than ever. Knowing how busy he is and he doesn't know every medication you're taking. Dr Patel is THE WORST doctor in this valley. He called my son **** pill pusher for asking for a refill for a prescription that he needs. My son who is 33 years old has a short term memory problem & didn't remember an appointment that he supposedly had. What kind of doctor would say that to a patient, especially one who's had a brain tumor and has had memory loss since he was 14 years old???!!! WHAT A PUNK!!! SO UNPROFESSIONAL and he thinks he can just get away with saying that to a patient who is timid because he's had health problems. Dr. Patel is a tough doctor because he cares. I laugh all the time when I am speaking to him. If you get lazy he has no problem with setting you straight. I am pretty sure he is going to set me straight today at my appointment. However I may need it every time he tells me to get my shot together I do it. One of the best Doctors I've had in my whole life!! Also I've read the reviews about him being out of the office. Everyone is entitled to time off work. Even when he was on vacation in India he did virtual meetings with me. I've never had a doctor do that, so do me a favor if you don't like it leave! read more

Dr Patels office is absolutely ridiculous if you get a 9am appointment you know you will not be seen until at least 10am. I'm here today waiting for my 8am appointment. I've been here since 735am and it's 8am and the door are yet to be open. There are no chairs for anyone to sit in outside the office. Theres 7 people right now waiting outside The door sitting on the floor. It's disappointing that this is the only endocrinologist option in the Antelope Valley. I've met with this joke of a Dr three times, and every visit was worse than the last. I was used to getting my A1C the days of my visits at USC west side medical center, and blood work done in house. This terrible place made me wait a month to know my A1C, sent me across the hall to a worn down phlebotomist office, and through all that, I had to wait 45 minutes just to have my vitals taken. The last visit culminated in he and I yelling at each other over my diabetes therapy. This is no Doctor, or professional of any kind. Avoid this Office at all costs. read more

I saw Dr. Patel for the first time today. Dr. Patel was very pleasant. Dr. Patel was also thorough, didn't rush me, explained his plan for me. I had a thyroid ultrasound and the radiologist recommended a thyroid biopsy, that's how I saw Dr. Patel. Dr. Patel explained a lot to me and put my mind at ease. Dr. Patel had blood work done and wants me to have a CT Scan of my neck to see what is going on and to make a determination of how to proceed. He didn't immediately jump to perform a biopsy and I was grateful. I am glad that I didn't form an opinion about Dr. Patel before meeting him for myself. I left Dr. Patel's office feeling very good about him and trusting that he will create a treatment plan that will be best for me. read more

I'm not one to fight with the boomers, especially on a puny app such as yelp, but there is one specific person on here who is calling out all of these extremely justified poor reviews, hi Jules. I do not know if you are being paid by his office to defend his honor or what, but this man has had and probably still does have SEVERAL law suits against him having to do with malpractice, I have done my research. He tried and almost succeeded at killing my thyroid at just 17 years old. I would have been on thyroid replacements for the rest of my life. Mind you my thyroid is completely healthy and has always been completely healthy, until I went to this joke of a practice. I was 14 when i started seeing this "doctor" he put me on 2 different medications that thinned my hair, gave me brittle nails, slowed my metabolism, and many many more symptoms. I was 14! This did not stop until 4 years later when I found out that this man is all about his money. This place is very very dangerous and for your sake you should get a third opinion, I read your review about how you saw someone from Stanford. This man is dangerous regardless of what you say, read the other review about how he LITERALLY misdiagnosed someone with diabetes. Anyways, I'm sure you'll have a witty reply to this one. I like the doctor but he needs to hire more staff. I have been on hold and then disconnected 4 times this morning. That's 44 minutes with no results. They double booked my husband and I am trying to cancel one of them. Guess we will go to the first one and cancel the duplicate when we are there. read more

My first visit with this doctor started off pleasantly enough but he wouldn't let me speak and when I had a question about the food list that his receptionist gave to me he turned from Dr. Jekyl to Mr. Hyde! He raised his voice, belittled and berated me all in front of his office staff saying "this is why people go from pre-diabetes to diabetes"! This was simply because I had a questioned why I could not eat any bread at all because I get a horrible headache when I don't eat a certain amount of carbs. Half of the things on the food list I can't eat due to other conditions. I would end up malnourished if I followed it. There were only ten items that I could eat. There was no variety. I am a semi vegetarian so it makes it even harder as I don't eat beef or 'bison' which was on the list. He exclaimed that the headaches are "because my body is used to sugar". This couldn't be further from the truth as I have always cared about my diet, limited my sugar intake and rarely cheat except on holidays. He was blaming me for my condition. I am 66 years old and have autoimmune conditions and I am a retired health care practitioner myself. He had no reason to speak to me in that manner and I have decided that after I get my blood work results that I will not be returning to him. I left the office shaking for being yelled at and undermined in such a contemptuous manner in front of his staff. I did not go to him to be abused but to get help with controlling my pre-diabetes of which I left the office feeling blamed about. I am not overweight and I watch what I eat. I am literally not one of the people that deserved to be reprimanded in that manner. He yelled at me for asking a question. My concern is, why did he get so defensive and act unprofessionally for asking him a question? Other issues are that when I call the office, I am kept on hold and the staff is very cold. A little kindness and support would have been nice. One thing is that I didn't have to wait long to be seen but I guess that was lucky after reading some of the other reviews. Oh, and I forgot to say that he rudely said that why don't I be the 'specialist' which there was no need to say such a thing simply because I asked a question about the food list. read more

Oh where do I even begin. Dr. Patel... I don't know how to even refer to this man as a doctor. I had a complete thyroidectomy at AV hospital. They gave me a few days worth of thyroid meds and a follow up with Dr. Patel in 3 days for more meds. I call and he's out of town. Staff won't give me an appointment and I have no way of getting thyroid meds and now I have no thyroid. They tell me he will be gone for 2 weeks. I called the ENT who did the surgery. They were confused and didn't know what to do. But gave me a prescription enough for until he gets back. Finally gets back I get an appointment and go. The man is extremely rude. I can hear him yelling at patients in the next room. He finally comes to me. Doesn't ask how my recovery is going since surgery. So I let him know about the medication issue and he replies with "oh I didn't know I had to ask for your permission to go on a vacation" anyway. A few months with him and my health was getting worse and worse. I could barely walk. Heart rate was in the 150's. Fainting spells. Breathless. He did labs and kept upping my dose of thyroid meds. At my last appointment with him (I'm a grown woman) my mom has to hold my hand and walk me in because I couldn't walk anymore. My heart rate was in the 160's. I couldn't catch my breath. He said my thyroid level is too low and he's upping my dose again. He also said my blood work came back and I'm diabetic. Called the nurse in with an insulin pen to teach me how to use it and give myself insulin daily. No glucometer no telling me what my labs are. I walked out with the pen to the hallway where my parents were waiting for me to help me walk again. My dad took the pen from me and said this mans insane. Called UCLA and got me in right away. Labs were done and my thyroid level was critically high. I was admitted right away and hooked up to heart monitors. I told them about the diabetes. The endo said I'm nowhere near even prediabetic. They called the health department and filed a complaint and submitted their side of their evaluation. The health department came to my house after I was back from the hospital. Took a report. A year later I received a letter that their office had been seized and his license had been reprimanded. I really don't know what happened after that but I see he's still practicing. I met a few women in the AV that told me similar experiences with this "doctor" one young woman at the lab told me he had her thyroid go so crazy she had to have a hysterectomy and broke down crying. Seriously stay far far away from this place. I know there aren't many options in the area but this mans dangerous. read more

For the most part this doctor is a waste of time and I only see him to get a prescription. Even with an appoint you will wait a minimum of 2 hours before you see him. He will meet you with maybe 5 mins before pushing you out the door, and the convo normally is just to say your blood work is fine. But he wont give you your prescription unless you make an apt even if hes has nothing to say to you. Just go to him to get your dosing right then take that prescription to your general doctor and save yourself time and effort. read more

Avoid this Dr, unless u enjoy being belittled and berated for anything other then what he wants. He is a bully and doesn't work with as he wants to dictate u. I have never been told to "shut up" by a Dr or that "when you end up in the hospital again and they call u a specialist tell them not too call me" I have never seen a bully quite like this one. Dr. Patel is Awesome if you are willing to change your eating habits he is willing to help and guide you along.

My wife sees a doctor here. Main complaint is that even if the doctor is running behind, the receptionist will continually tell you "he's on time". Worst experience was 1.5 hours after appt time to see the doctor. Average seems to be 45 minutes to an hour. I believe that just because they let you behind the door and into a waiting room, doesn't mean the doctor is on time. So in short, do not expect to run in and out real quick. Receptionist is very friendly though and as I sit in the waiting room, I am actually amazed at her resolve to remain friendly with patients constant complaining, and not very nicely. What happened to our society anyway? Doctor is ok and competent-very pleasant.I would say exceptionally average. read more
