Used to be a good local news paper. Articles about Palmdale/Lancaster and rest of A.V. After bought out by current conglomerate (who has bought up several underperforming local papers) -now just another left leaning rag. Letters to the Editor feature local socialists - giving them their own columns (We only allow 1 time per week - should be 1 time per year.) Mostly ads. Lots of legal notices (meeting publication requirements). Come Oct home delivery is no more. Will be sending 5 days a week thru regular mail. What a shame. read more

I have had the Antelope Valley Press for some time, and took a break with their subscription. Being a re-subscriber for the last 4 months, I have written about 4 letters to "Letter's To The Editor" section two about two months back and two more recently. The first two were published, "Thank You" for that, but the more recent ones were not. I see the same "Politically Left" writers in there almost daily, But would have liked to had my '"Politically Opinionated Letters Published. I'm wondering if the Newspaper has changed and has "Vertigo" falling too far to the Left?! read more

I haven't received my newspaper in almost 1 week! I called and they said their computer is down so she can't view my account. Then she said my route person has quit. It doesn't make sense, she didn't know why I haven't got it and she couldn't help me. I have paid for a whole year and am tempted to cancel my subscription. So their circulation sucks, but I do enjoy the paper , it is local and keeps me updated on what is going on in our community. read more

The building is in the middle of nowhere it seems like. On Sierra Hwy, if you are heading toward Ave R, the building will be on the right side, before you go under a bridge. If you are heading toward Ave S on Sierra Hwy, the building is going to be on your left side after you have passed under the bridge. The receptionist and the classified staff have been nice thus far. I posted an ad for my lost dog. Schvone helped me with this. The pricing for the lost and found classified was $14.50 for 10 days for 4 lines and free picture of choice. I think there is a better pricing option for if you want longer amount of days (ie. 30days) I also came here to post my notice of name change (required for legal name change) with Alison. The cost is $90. I'm not really sure how much other places charge but without any comparisons, $90 seems a little high.. Again not sure. They will post your name change notice with court hearing date and place for 4 weeks. After, they will give you a proof of publishing for you to file at the court. They will call you when it is ready to be picked up. Overall, I had a pleasant experience with both Schvone and Alison. They will coordinate with you via email if you request it and will always call you if there is anything missing. read more

A.V press website is TRASH. They are worried about copywright issue's, so when you try to right click, to copy text (for further research) you get a "copywright error message" I could just as easily, use my AVS screen capture prg. or "printscreen" and hit "run", then "MSpaint" then print. I am currently receiving "program not responding error messages" I use "ctrl+alt+del to pull up taskmanager and end task (or AKA eject from this pathetic program).Seems I always have to reboot my computer, after visiting their website.From the looks of other reviews, they seem greedy ...go figure. Also try to find a JetHawks article.Seems the babies at A.V. press have issue's with the JetHawks (Whaaaa). I have watched this paper go down the tubes over the years. It has gotten smaller and smaller. Very little local news any more. I will say that we FINALLY got a really good carrier! She has been here at basically the same time every morning and never misses us! So for the last year or so we have been very happy with our carrier Now, we are moving out of state and I want to cancel my subscription, but no one will answer the phone!! I can't do it online and my email to them came back via mailer demon saying not deliverable! I have left messages on the phone when, after about 20 rings, DURING BUSINESS HOURS, a recorded message said to leave a message and they would get back to me...and...NOTHING! So I will cancel my automatic debit with my bank. That should stop it! read more

It's kind of sad that not one Yelper from the Antelope Valley has taken the time to review their hometown newspaper, yet there are no shortages of opinion about McDonalds and Walmart. What's worse is that I'm really not all that surprised. I guess I'll be the one to do the honors. Let me begin by stating the obvious: the AV Press is no New York Times or Washington Post, nor does it pretend to be. It's a small-town newspaper that serves a predominantly middle-class, suburban community. It's published daily. Stories are usually relevant and interesting. The quality of writing is surprisingly good for a local publication. And customer service has always been top-notch. What more can you possibly ask for? Oh, but it gets better. Recently, the paper launched an "e-edition," which is included in the price of subscription and allows subscribers to access the entire paper online. I don't live in the Antelope Valley anymore, but my family still does, so this is a great way for me to stay up-to-date on local issues. Politically, this newspaper tends to lean pretty far to the right, but then again so do most of the people that live in this area. However, I just wouldn't feel morally right giving 5 stars to a paper that includes columns from Bill O'Reilly, so I'm deducting a half star. I'm knocking off the other half because sometimes their stories seem a little less than newsworthy. A few weeks ago, the cover story was literally about a man who was upset because he had received a code enforcement violation. I know this is the A.V. we're talking about, and exciting things rarely occur, but this story still seemed pretty ridiculous to put on the front page. Thanks, A.V. My husband loves his paper and coffee in the morning which was fine.. Occasionally we didn't get a paper, we call we get a paper, then we moved, we reported that we moved and what our knew address was we stopped getting our paper for 2 weeks now no paper, we've called 6 times ask for supervisors, asked for managers still no paper if you get the Antelope Valley Press don't move! you won't get a paper again and you won't get a call back from a manager either! As much as we have been nice and tryied to resolve this problem nothing has happened, I would suggest you try a different paper! read more

After about a month from cancelling our subscription we received several phone calls to try the paper again. I missed the paper and was told many changes had occurred. One of the many promises made was that it would arrive by 6am. Unfortunately, it still doesn't arrive early enough to read it before I leave for work. Therefore, by the time I get to read it, it's old news. It also has a new format such that the print can sometimes be so small it's difficult for our old eyes to comfortably read and do the puzzles page. However, I did add one more star as the spelling and grammar have slightly improved. read more

When my husband and I moved to Palmdale in 2006, we thought taking the local paper would be a good idea. WRONG What a waste of money, and over the years, their editorial board has gotten way, WAY too far to the right. Their misspellings, horrible storytelling and biased reporting was just so frustrating, and then to be one of only FIVE papers in the entire US to endorse #DontheCon... The City of Palmdale even stopped counting on them to be on time and accurate with announcements of performances. It's a slacker paper. I have most definitely not missed missing their deliveries and their condescending editor. Save your money and time. read more

Community newspaper for the Antelope Valley cover some interesting stuff some days and other days I fell this news paper can get some help with information regarding the community and things that are going on in the Antelope Valley. I suggest there should be a part of the paper just for people 65 and older tell them about daily programs and places they can go if there in need of help for example food or shelters. It nice to read in a newspaper articles that are more positive and the children in the community. Make this paper more inviting so more positive people can read about the city and what it has to offer read more

Today's paper is a no show. Called to request delivery - was told that the Valley Press "can't keep carriers" and they are really short staffed. As a result I wouldn't be receiving a paper today. I asked for a refund - no can do. OK, cancel my subscription. The paper is never here before 9AM anyway and I leave for work at 7AM. Perhaps the VP needs to look in the mirror to see why the "can't keep carriers"...or customers for that matter. BTW I have been having delivery problems for two months, this isn't a one time occurrence. read more

We had subscribed to the AV Press for over 30 years, but with the recent takeover by a Canadian company, it had gone so far obviously left, and the quality was so poor, that we finally decided to cancel. We miss seeing the local sports coverage, but considering that the price was continually going up, while the quality had gone down, we decided to cancel our subscription. read more

Antelope Valley Press is one of the few newspapers who have maintained to keep an excellent newspaper. Not only do you get your daily news but you also can get other Publications from the press that give you a great sense of the Antelope Valley. I love this newspaper. read more

Not at all happy with the Antelope Valley Press. Recently we put a vacation hold on our delivery of the paper. Unfortunately, we had to return home early only to find our newspapers had been delivered. Note, we had confirmation of the hold being placed. Now, our newpaper is arriving later and later in the day and the delivery person is barely getting the paper up on our driveway. In fact, sometimes we do not get our paper at all. Awful service. We have called and complained, yet nothing has changed. We will not be renewing. read more

if I could i would have rated this 1/2 a star at best... along with the other reviews, be wary of cancellation. because they do not honor cancellation request on dates of cancellation. NOR do they refund the full amount. they are quick to stop payments on refunds to you, and when your bank charges you that fee of stop payment now you are out the stop payment amount as well as the initial charge. No show, No show, No show Paid over $199 for home delivery service and not only do I not consistently receive the paper, but sometimes not at all. I called about failure to deliver two editions and was told since they were past editions that I would have to come down to one of the two offices and PAY for the editions that they did not deliver! I receive the Wall Street Journal every morning by 5:00 AM. The end is near for print publication. read more

On the new TV Guide why did they make the print so small that you have to get a magnifying glass to read it and sometimes I still cannot read it. 90% that buy the paper are seniors and middle class people. Did u have some young whipper snapper figure this out. Please make the printing larger, I had no problem reading the TV section before and did not need glasses. Well I am cancelling my subscription for horrible customer service. I agree that the paper leans very much to the right. I hate that but that is the area that I live. Whatever...reason why I am cancelling is due to HORRIBLE customer service! I signed up with a special and prepaid for our delivery. We had no paper today. Today is a Thursday so not like I am trying to get two Sunday papers for free mind you! I am told since I called too late they will not will not send me out another nor credit my acnt. I advised that it is illegal to take payment for a service that was not rendered. She advised me who is not to say that I did receive it or a neighbor stole it. I know my neighbors did not steal it and you are talking about a 50c paper. Really! Had to pull teeth to get my date that my paper payment is over. I have to call and cancel and will do so the Friday before. Bad customer service is not to be had by me! read more

I cancelled my subscription to Antelope Valley Press after constant delivery problems. Contacting their customer service department does not help, they are concerned and offer to contact the manager of the delivery service but their delivery service is contracted out and is not part of A.V. Press staff so the delivery problems continue. The delivery person would drop the paper on the street or sidewalk, countless times, in front of our driveway. On windy days paper would be down in the middle of our street. The last straw was when it was delivered to the house across from us, I called and talked to customer service and was told that paper would be delivered next day with that day's paper. Well, the delivery person delivered no paper at all. After three calls to customer service requesting re-delivery and no paper, I called and cancelled the paper, paper was delivered an hour after I cancelled but no paper for previous day was included. The contracted Delivery Service seems to hire people with indifference to their work duties, that is the impression I get. I like the A.V. Press paper, however getting frustrated with poor delivery service is not worth having a subscription with them. read more
