Went in as a walk in and got seated right away. Told the guy I wanted a cut and a beard touch up. He said cool. While in the chair some people walked in that they had miss booked and there was discussion about it while cutting my hair. No big deal right. WRONG. As soon as the barber was done with my haircut he said "can't get to the beard". I'm thinking like it's not my fault you messed up your bookings. I'm in the chair and my moneys green. What's the problem? No deal he was done and sending me on my way. To me this is utter disrespect and poor customer service. I will never go back. read more

Excellent haircuts for my son and I by Alex and Eddie. Have been going here for over 9 years and have always had great service.

They require appts. However, once in there, they have a sign stating that they welcome walk ins. They are cash only but have an ATM on site. My husband left without actually getting his haircut bc he didn't like how the younger barber treated him after he asked about the conflicting messaging on the walk-in policy. I have been going here since I moved to Phoenix 5 years ago. Everyone who works there is very professional, courteous, and do outstanding work! I usually get my hair cut by Alex. I have been going to him for a while and he never disappoints! He is very thorough and takes his time! I am a musician here locally in Phoenix and I always come to him before I get ready for a show because he knows exactly what to do and I can depend on him every single time! Let me start off by saying that I don't usually write Yelp reviews. However, I felt compelled after my experience here. I walk in to this place to get a haircut. I've been here before with no problems. John usually does a fine job cutting my hair and I've always been satisfied. This time, I walked in and showed him a picture of the haircut I wanted. I stated "I want this haircut, but I want it shorter on the sides". He buzzed the sides the same length all around and proceeded to trim the top as requested. When the haircut was over, I asked if we could go shorter on the sides, or perhaps do a fade. He quickly became irritated and defensive that he had to do it again. I actually apologized and stated "I'm sorry, I probably should have been more clear with what I wanted" Keep in mind that my request didn't require him to redo the entire haircut because he had originally cut it the same length with the buzzer. As he's doing the fade, Melissa (I believe that's her name, her chair is closest to the door and I think she's the owner) came out and looked at us and said "Are you doing two haircuts?" John explained what happened and she said "You know we have to charge you for two haircuts now, right?" I was floored. I replied "If that's how you choose to run your business, then I will pay for two haircuts." She didn't acknowledge my response and rudely ignored me and walked away. I will never return to this place again and will tell everyone I know about my experience. You don't ever belittle or reprimand a customer. I even nicely apologized for not being more clear about what I wanted. They never ended up charging me for two haircuts, which furthermore proves my point that they just wanted to make me feel bad. In the end, my request added less than 5 minutes of additional work. They have lost a customer for life due to the way they handled this situation and how they made me feel. Never again. Melissa always has a bad attitude every time I go in there, so this isn't the first time. She should seek employment where she doesn't have to have face to face contact with customers. The customer is always right. This place apparently has a difficult time grasping that concept. . read more

Of the local barber shops in Anthem this one is the best. Owned and operated by a Russian woman, they cut hair in a traditional manner, offering a quick back massage after, hot towel and straight blade shave. The staff is very friendly (although the owner can occasionally appear serious) and is comparably priced to the usual barber places you see around the valley. The location is always clean, has flat panel TVs and nice furniture. They cut men, women and children's hair and offer a variety of services. This was perhaps the finest shave I have received in 18 years living in Arizona. Carson is a master Barber. And the price is so completely affordable it blew my mind. For the time and effort that he puts into it I would have thought it would have been over $50. And it was under even with a sizable tip. Had another great experience at Anthem Barbershop today. Yes it's always busy but who wants to go to a barbershop that isn't busy? A barbershop that isn't busy is a pretty good indication the shop may not be somewhere you want to be. You can make appointments during the week but not on Saturdays. The atmosphere is always pleasant and the shop is always clean. The cuts are consistently excellent from the owner Larissa as well as Alex. They make me feel welcome every time I walk in the shop and take a genuine interest as to how I have been doing. I have taken both my boys there for the past six years and recommended the shop to my dad, nephew and brother in law who are all now regulars. Even though it might make the wait longer I would recommend the shop to anyone in need of an excellent haircut. read more

Best haircut I've gotten in a looooong time! Great shop, friendly staff, excellent haircuts -- all at a very reasonable price. Doesn't get any better than that. Not only did I get a great haircut (thanks Larissa!), but I also got the royal barbershop treatment (hot foam shave around the neck, hot towel scalp treatment, and massage pad on my shoulders and back).
