I posted a negative review 4 years ago. Anthony Sylvan responded with apologies and immediately came out, assessed the problem, and fixed it at no cost to me. They stood firmly behind their product and went to significant expense to satisfy my concerns. Notwitstanding my initial experience, they have come through. The moral? Nobody is perfect. People make mistakes. But this company has integrity. They did the right thing. Nicely. Quickly. And professionally. If someone were to ask me for a recommendation for a pool company, Anthony & Sylvan would be my only choice. Based upon them standing fully behind their product, notwithstanding my initial criticism, I would absolutely use them again. I am in the process of starting a class action lawsuit against Anthony & Sylvan Pools for not honoring their contracts as well as bribing people with a few thousand dollars to have their customers remove their bad reviews online after the customers have 5 figures in damages from their work which they will not resolve. I have attached a screenshot of Owen Sakovics' email requesting I prove to him I can remove a review from Yelp. This was his request, along with a signed release barring me from any future claims against Anthony & Sylvan. From what I understand this goes against Yelp's policy as well. Update: Owen from Anthony & Sylvan has been in contact with me again to sign a release stating I will remove a 1 star Yelp review. I refused since we have had a leak in our hot tub for YEARS now (since the building of it) which Anthony & Sylvan refused to address under warranty. We were left with over $13,000 worth of damages plus they wanted me to sign a release barring me from any future claims in the amount of $1,999. This company is pathetic the way they do business. I had my concrete pool resurfaced in 2019 by Anthony Sylvan pool co and paid 25,000.00. It needed to be redone the following year because of the poor work and had to pay to refill my pool twice. Now its 5 years later and there are 2 cracks in the wall and a few tiles cracked and coping is disintegrating in one spot. I called to have a repair and was told they 'don't repair' and would need to redo the entire pool and all the tile. They only guarantee their work for 3 years. I can't spend another 25 or 30 thousands dollars to repair their shotty work! With such an expensive project, you would think they would guarantee their work. I will need to hire another company to repair the pool and feel very disappointed in the response I received. Shop around before contracting with this company. read more

This is an updated review for my 2 years ago posting...after causing a $20-25k damage to my inground gunite pool a customer service representative from Anthony & Sylvan Pools sent me a message to offer a $1600 payment to either remove or give a good review. I am frustrated with this company for their ignorance and pure disrespect for people's money. I am not sure how Anthony & Sylvan thinks that a $20-25k damage to my pool can be resolved with $1600. Again i would like to remind to all to STAY AWAY and do not use them for any pool repairs and or new pool construction. Their marketing is very good, they will trick you with their gimmicks but the work quality is very very poor. Buyer beware. My Anthony & Sylvan pool is literally falling apart after just 4 seasons. I spent a fortune expecting a quality pool that would last, but what I got was a crumbling mess. The tile and top wall around the entire perimeter are disintegrating into the water. You can see the mesh and cement underneath -- it's disgraceful. Water leaks through the wall, and the structural integrity is clearly failing. The worst part? I purchased a product with a lifetime warranty! But now Anthony & Sylvan is not standing by it's product! They are claiming that the warranty only lasts 3 years, which should tell you everything you need to know about their lack of honesty and confidence in their own product. Incredibly disappointed in our experience - we put our pool in 6 years ago - it is visibly sinking to the point where it cracked the elbow on the bottom of the skimmer and that isn't covered by the warranty. Well have to wait a few more years for the shell to crack apparently which will happen! Last year, we had to empty the pool due to poor installation of the gasket of the light which was essentially a glob of caulk, about 15 tiles have fallen off at this point and the coping is cracked everywhere - especially on rounded edges. Beyond disappointing in the quality and attempt to get any support. We have several neighbors looking to put in pools and we know who to not recommend! read more

I wish I had read these reviews before I hired them . My experience has been similar to those that are posted. This company is smoke and mirrors... I hired them last September to begin a complete pool renovation, It's now mid June and I'm finally nearing completion. This company doesn't do any of the work themselves, it is all contracted out . They insist on payment before they step foot on your property. Once they have payment they immediately ghost you . If you call the office a professional answering service answer takes your message but no one ever calls you back . In summary under NO circumstances should you hire this company! Our pool was finished in June 2020.They subcontracted work for our pool out to Jayson pools. Jayson pools opened our pool in April 2021 as part of the price I paid Anthony and Sylvan pools. However Jayson pools has been billing us for work that they say they performed that we never asked them perform nor did we authorize them to perform and which was never performed. The catch 22 is that Anthony pools, when we have a problem, refers us to Jayson, but Jayson won't do anything because they say we owe them money that we don't owe. Trying to get anyone from Anthony and Sylvan pools to be responsible has not worked. The house I purchased had an inground concrete pool that needed a full reno. It was a 40k project. So far I've completed all payments. I put down the deposit in May 2022 with an Anthony Sylvon salesman, who left the company halfway through my project (Dan B). The plan was to complete my project in early Summer 2023. I currently do not have a project manager or a contact person at the company since my salesman left, but I was left with the contact info for the head of sales who never answers their email or phone. In the rare occasion my email is answered, it is by a scheduler who is not able to give me guidance - any questions I ask her, I'm told that she will find out, but I never hear back from them. The same scheduler has always called me very promptly when my next payment is due. For each section of the work that was done, they've send out third party contractors who have no respect for my property. They walk over my rose bushes and have damaged my garden hose. They have zero patience to walk me through the work they did. They are mainly concerned about getting in and out as fast as possible. I've requested the scheduler to let the crew know that they please check with me before they use the tools at my house, but that hasn't happened. They grabbed whatever they had available in the yard to get their job done. I've let it all slide, just wanting for this project to be done with, hoping I'd have a finished pool in time for the summer. The project finally got completed last Thursday, and I was instructed to turn the filter on after the pool filled up. I reached out to the company with questions, but no one responded (I wasn't surprised). Once the pool filled up, and I turned on the filter, and noticed that it doesn't turn on. I have a separate pool service company that is helping me treat the water - they said they can't treat the water until the filter is running. I've been trying to get a response from Anthony Sylvan, and I'm left hanging. At the end of this 40k project, I have a pool sitting with untreated water, and I'm not sure what to do. This pool project was the last of a gut renovation of my house. This means that I've worked with several contractors this past year. I'm saddened to say that Anthony Sylvan is the only one that has been this irresponsible in staffing the project with the right people. I wanted to give a "5 star" rating to Mr. Jack Niebuhr of Anthony & Sylvan Pools. Jack arrived at our home at approximately 4 pm on Wednesday May 10, 2023. Jack spent the next 4 hours installing a new handrail at our pool (his company had renovated our pool last summer, and the last item was this handrail installation). Jack is a problem solver, and he found a solution that properly and securely anchored the new handrail while preserving the character of our existing concrete paver pool deck. He really took his time and went the extra mile to insure that we would be pleased with installation. * Leslie from Anthony and Sylvan reached out in response to this review. She was able to help us secure 4 boxes of the tiles which are now discontinued. We are able to have our repairman do patch jobs until we can afford to redo the 28k job we just had done in 2017. I appreciate her goodwill gesture bc I don't know how we would have been able to do the patch jobs, but I wish the original job Anthony and Sylvan would have held up as they said it would. Anthony and Sylvan built our pool in 2006 so when our pool tiles started popping in 2016 it was a no brainer to have them do the work the next season. They said we'd have to do the tile and coping and they started on the job in Spring 2017.In the winter we followed their instructions to the T to keep this from ever happening again. In 2018, we had tiles pop on the brand new job. Fought with Anthony and Sylvan bc they were under warranty, they would not redo the entire job, just replace the mortar and tiles in those areas. Took forever for them to finally even get out to us. Fast forward to several years later and multiple tiles pop each year. This year is the worst yet with an entire pool wall of tiles ready to come off. Had a company out today that said we will need to redo the tile and coping. A 30k tile job should not have to be redone year after year. Their motto is "Our pools last a lifetime." But their work clearly shows it does not. read more

After over a year, a signed contract, deposit paid (and sitting in an interest earning account) finalizing design and them then losing my design. Today I get the call from Anthony & Sylvan Pools that they are jacking up the price of our pool (what was already price inflated) another $12kplus!!!!!!! A small cement pool that, in non-pandemic times, would cost $65k-$70k. We already agreed to pay $84.5k for said pool, will now cost us $98k!!!! I had to chase these idiots down for months and it was the most exhausting and frustrating experience with a business to date. Never ever use Anthony & Sylvan Pools they are liars and cheats!!Never ever ever ever!!!!!!! Now we have to start from the beginning again! I wish I could give them '0' stars!!! BEWARE - This is the WORST company EVER!!!! We signed a contract for our pool last July and it is still NOT finished. They will take your money and start your project but you will NEVER get them to actually finish it. No one at this company is reputable and they are all full of empty promises. Don't let the comments from "Owen" their customer care person let you think that they care and are making good to all of the unhappy customers because they are just stringing them along and trying to make themselves look better. I threatened to post a review two weeks ago and immediately got a response from "Tony" their metro area manager. They sent my long lost project manager "Trevor" to our house for a site visit to make it look like they were actually going to finish our pool but once again here we are a week later and I can't get ANYONE to return my calls, text messages or emails to schedule what needs to be done to finish my pool. I understand that construction things are still difficult because of covid and that they are taking longer than normal but the difference is this company has NO intention of finishing the projects they start. The money is in the excavation and gunite phase. Once you get past that you will never be able to get in touch with anyone to finish your pool. You also should know that they sub-contract out ALL of the work and hire the cheapest labor they can find. We had a major issue with the plumbing that took them 6 months to fix and I'm still not convinced that it will all work properly when it's hooked up. Please, Please...DO NOT use this company! Contracted with them to resurface pool and replace bullnose in May, was told it would take 3 days. They showed up drained pool on last day of contract start date, then radio silent. Called vm they were full. It took 4 months to complete, I had to made numerous calls and excuse after excuse, when someone did show up they did not speak English and no one from Anthony sylvan supervised anything, it seemed everything was subcontracted out. When someone did show up they would get out of a pool truck with another name and put on Anthony sylvan pools tee shirt. I thought by going with a local big name would be safe. Any issues you have to deal with Pennsylvania home office not office in New Jersey. The estimate they gave does not include everything one would assume. They replaced the bullnose but did not put chalking in contract. That was another 1,000 out of pocket. If you want to be the general contractor for your pool hirer theses guys because you will spending a lot of time explaining to different contractors what to do. I feel Anthony sylvan got paid a lot to do very little as no oversight. P.s. The guy that gives you the estimate has very little experience in building pools, so be careful to get everything into the contract don't rely on salesman, he's not looking out for you. If you work full time this will interfere with that! One last thing they underestimated the amount of bullnose needed and put small pieces together to make up for not enough bullnose. I finally got someone from Anthony Sylvan to come and look. They agreed it had to be replaced. My nightmare ended in Sept. finally. We got an anthony and sylvan gift card for our trouble, the first time we went to use it it didn't work, we'll see if it works this year. read more

Walked into their show room on a Tuesday. Left my information and was told I'll receive a call. On Saturday after not hearing from them I called. Was put on hold for 5 minutes. When someone finally came to the phone, who I believe was a manger I was told you WILL DEFINITELY be contacted on Monday. Well guess what? Today is Thursday and NO ONE has called me. I guess business is so good they don't need new customers. If I can't get a return phone call from them how can I trust them to build an inground pool for me. Imagine if there was issues and you couldn't get in touch with anybody. Wouldn't feel good. Within the last few days I have been in touch with two competitors in the neighborhood. Both places have communicated with me extremely well and I'm well past the initial stage with them . So to sum up Anthony and Sylvia do not care about potential customers. The worst experience we have ever had with a service company. They sold us our pool 13 months ago and it's still not done. We have a dangerous concrete hole sitting in our yard since last fall. When we call to ask what's happening they either don't answer us or say they will get it done "next week". Well nobody ever shows up and it's still not done. We paid for 90percent of our pool and they still have much to finish. I would never recommend them to anyone ever!! They also use all sub contractors so they have no crews of their own. People - when they did show up to work early on- didn't know our pool/yard and were not familiar with what needed to be done. In fact crews showed up and left. Nobody from AS ever came to the work sight. Yet they blame covid for this mismanagement and poor service. They continue to sell pools and scam other consumers. They are unreliable and unresponsive. A&S did excellent job building my pool! It looks great! Sales guy was not "pushy" and explained well all options. It was very interesting to observe the construction process. It was easy to work with them! They have a separate fence division but they coordinate with each other very well. They are big reputable company, yet their pricing was one of the lower estimates I got. My family is very happy with our new pool! We highly recommend A&S! read more
