So I am repeat customer. 10 years ago we had a liner change. This time liner change and change of two lights. The liner install was terrific just like last time. They (Jose and crew) showed up right on time 0830. They immediately went right to work and drained pool saved water within the first hour or less. They then removed old liner patched some of the uneven surfaces and installed new liner. By 12noon the water was back in pool and they were done. Unbelievable fantastic! read more

This review may be changed based upon the response I receive. I was referred to Mid-State by a friend that use to work for them and had new liner installed on my 20,000 in ground pool In 2021...I didn't shop them, I listened to my friend, reviewed their reviews and I signed the day they came and gave me a quote. One of my drain covers came loose the second year ... it's 8 feet down. Apparently my "Nautilus CC Plus" robotic pool cleaner was getting stuck on one of the bottom drains and vibrating it to the point the screws unloosened and the drain cover move.....OK ... I've never had this problem and they wanted to charge me to have someone come over and put a screw back in... after a bunch of dialogue, they sent someone down to re-screw the plate cover back in. I'm now having the same concern with the same drain cover "deciding to envelop" my new Nautilus CC Plus pool cleaner. It gets stuck on top of the drain cover, doesn't clean my pool And loosens the screws. So ... either the new $900.00 pool robot is bad (as well as its predecessor" or the pool drain is nor secured properly ? ...I would bet on the pool liner, not the pool robot.... This has been an ongoing problem and they will not accept any responsibility and wish to charge me a service fee because of their incompetence... I would understand that it could be my fault... but it's 8.5ft under the water... I'm not a fish... I can't get down there. It's their problem, an ongoing problem caused by their installation, they accept no responsibility and want to charge me a bunch of $$$ for a loose cover that THEY INSTALLED ! Disgusted with them... and I just sent them a neighbor for a new liner late last week...i rescinded that recommendation for now...we'll see read more

I keep telling my friends that I had my liner replaced 5 or 6 years ago. In fact I just checked and it was in 2011 so 11 years ago. Still looks great. I just called them cause I am going to replace the concrete deck around the pool and the company I am considering hiring told me told me to contact a pool liner company and gave them their names. Horrible service left equipment running said they would be back never showed up or called. There is no number to call for customer service or to find out where they are!!! Not even a phone call!! Very disappointed thought I actually found a reliable company we had hopes they would at least show up Monday but we're told they went fishing and would be back Tuesday. Took off another day of work they went to close the pool I asked where the lock liner was I paid 200 for was told they did not have any then came up with sections they put together around the pool. On 4/27 we had your company, Midstate Pool Liners, come to our home in Freehold to install pool steps, a gravity drain, and replace our liner. We were slated to spend a lot of money and we were quite anxious about the whole process. It was important that the job was not only done right, but that the quality of the workmanship was up to par, too. You sent a crew leader by the name of Noel. We explained to him that we novices with pools/pool requirements and that we wanted everything to be explained to us. He assured us that that would not be an issue. Noel and his crew began working on the project. Although all members seemed nice, Noel was the person we mainly interacted with. Noel explained to us in great detail the work they were doing and the reasoning behind the process they took. We ended up needing a new foam wall, and vermiculite coating on the entire pool floor. He showed us why we needed it, what the process was to apply it and showed us the product. We feel he did this to ensure we were comfortable and clear. In addition, he and his crew installed a gravity drain. They had to dig around 145 feet/20 inches down, to place the drain. He showed us everything along the way. He and his crew had to dig around plants, and grass to place the drain and when they were finished, no one could tell where they dug because they were so cautious and considerate when putting things back. Noel maintained constant communication with us. He told us when he would be arriving and gave us a recap of his work before he left. On his last day at our home, he power washed all the hardscape areas they worked in-literally making it seem as though no one was there. Noel, is a gem of an employee/service provider. He has made this entire process a smooth transaction because of his professionalism, dedication to customer service, and loyalty to your company. read more

Did a nice job on a close friends pool fix recently and they were pleased with the quality of the actual work. However, be careful of "the terms of the contact". Specially.... if they tell you that they will "save your pool water" and reuse it later, make sure you get the specifics of exactly how much, what will be involved, etc included in the contract. My friends only got about 1/2 their actual water back after being told they will "save the water". read more

After posting my negative review on Yelp, Wendy from Mid State called me and actually started yelling at me for leaving a negative review. She kept saying to me I'm sorry you're having a bad day, I explained that I don't feel that I should have been charged $212.00 when her people were out last year for the same problem, ( the liner was under warranty last year) the so called experts didn't say anything to me that the rest of liner may slip. That being said I spent over $4000.00 to have this liner installed and then they charged me to put liner locks on the whole pool. Half the pool was done the year before, I really couldn't get a word in, not even a partial refund was offered even though they only did half the pool Her workers were here less than 10 minutes. I think about the 5th time she said to me I'm sorry you're having a bad day is when I hung up on her. I have used this company to close my pool the last couple of years. I don't trust them to close my pool any longer. This company was by far not the cheapest but I went with their reputation, big mistake on my part, all they want is the money once they are paid they don't want to hear from you again and whatever you do don't post a negative review or you can expect a nasty call from Wendy read more

Needed a liner replacement for a 42000 gallon inground pool. They came out, drained almost all the pool water into holding pools, did the replacement, perfect fit, then replaced the water so a refill was not needed. Also replaced a 60 foot filter pipe, and re-seated the ladder mounts, all in one day. This is our second experience with them, both times they provided great service read more

I had them put a liner in for me. The person that I spoke to gave me the impression that he would be doing the work, not subcontracting it out for a much lower cost that was not passed on to me. He did not tell me that some foreigners that I could not communicate with would do the work. I initially negotiated with some people who I initially spoke to were Americans who spoke English. They did not tell me that they were going to send out people who were Mexican and barely able to speak English. During the workers time here, they made themselves comfortable by cooking their meals on my lawn, without my permission. If something went wrong I could have had a very bad insurance problem. Additionally, I walked out to the front and saw that these guys were using my front lawn as a bathroom. There they were, urinating on my front lawn which was right near the street (pigs). If the police saw this, there could have been a big problem. They did not care if there were any children around to see this which would have been even worse. Or there could have been children in a car passing by to witness this. I never gave them permission to use my property as a bathroom and they never asked, I would never have allowed this. There are public places in the area that they could have used. There were other things that Mid State Liners did that could cause problems for some time. These were serious infractions which I will not get into right now but I was very angry and I diplomatically brought it to their attention and they did not care, as long as they got their money. read more

Had such a great experience with this company that I had to write a well deserved review. Our original pool installer, Nicholas Pools, used the wrong anchors in the concrete for our handrails and ladder. We had problems from the beginning because the salt water pool continued to corrode the cheap anchors. Eventually the anchors crumbled into pieces and the concrete around them started cracking. Nicholas Pools accepted no responsibility and left us with a big mess. Fortunately, I met Dave from Mid State Pool Liners. He was very professional and no pressure. He assured me that his company could make it right - both functionally and aesthetically. His suggestions for repair were excellent and his estimate was very fair. Horrible experience with this company. Staff is rude, workers on site peed on my property and could hardly speak English. Have worked with other liner companies in the past and was much happier. Shop around. Saving the pool water is a gimmick given their inflated prices. You'd be better off filing pool with new water, which costs nothing these days and would still come out cheaper. Liner product is inferior to others, inspect closely. The sample book doesn't do a justice. BUYERS BEWARE! My neighbor just used Central Jersey Pools and was extremely happy. I was contacted a few weeks later, when someone at Midstate read my review and took it to heart. A gentleman spoke to me on the phone & said that he would put me in touch with someone who could perform the necessary repairs. I contacted the recommended person who came out in a timely manner and did the needed work. So, in fairness, they did eventually come to my aid, and, in the future, I will use Midstate when I need a new liner. read more

Midstate knows how to replace liners and work on pools, but the customer service is non-existent. I called to get a quote on having my liner replaced. The owner, Dave, came out and quoted me on the liner, along with other items; heater, light, moving filter, painting coping. All together, it added up to $11,900. A lot more than I had planned to spend, but I said OK. Included, both verbally and written into the contract, was digging trenching through asphalt for the plumbing and electric. Dave told me this would be a two day job. The bulk of the work was done in 3 days (pretty good). When the plumber came out to run the gas line, he told me that he could not use the trench as it was dug because the angle was too great and the gas line could not bend that much. Also, the township does not allow gas and electric to be in the same trench. When I called Dave to tell him this, he said that the trench was fine and that the plumber was just a complainer (he actually used a more graphic word). Dave dug out the trench a little more and said this would be fine. When the plumber came back again, he again told me that gas could not be run in the same trench as electric. I called a second and third plumber that all told me the same thing. I had to call, text, and email Midstate many, many times in order to get a response. Dave did not return my calls. Fortunately, I still owed a balance for the work. I called, texted, and emailed that if the second trench was not dug, I was going to hire somebody else to do it and deduct it from the bill. Finally they came and dug the trench. After the plumber did the work, Midstate would not come back and fill the trench until I made the same threat of not paying. The additional trench work was about two hours. The job ended up taking about five weeks. There is still a big pile of dirt in my yard that they never removed. After spending $12K, I did not expect this treatment. It's a shame that Dave treats his customers like this. They know how to do the job correctly, but it seems they like to get in, get out, move on. read more

Midstate replaced our liner two years ago. Looked nice first year. The second year we opened the pool it had many wrinkles, they fixed the wrinkles for a charge of $350. The second year we had wrinkles again they wanted to charge us $500. We agreed to have them come remove the wrinkles, we called them tnroughout the summer they never called us and never came. We had two liners before this one and never had a problem with wrinkles. We are now closing the pool with the wrinkles. Will be looking for a new liner company next year. would not recommend midstate. read more
