The surgery made it worse. My knee swelled up to twice the size of my left knee and left me in more pain than I had before the operation. After several months I went back to the ortho doctor and he gave me three options: live with the pain, get a cortisone shot every couple months or have a knee replacement. I didn't like any of the three. I was researching knee replacement and ran across a website for stem cell therapy. I made an appointment and long story short, took the treatments and it helped for a while then the pain was back. I decided to get a knee replacement. My wife had a bad car wreck in 1998. She has had several surgeries on her back and neck. The result has been chronic pain and neuropathy for years. It was so bad she couldn't hardly walk. Every year she felt like she was dying a little more. She started losing feeling in her feet and limbs, stayed swelled up all the time. She has been on pain meds for 15 years and they have slowly increased because the pain level has increased with age. She got a tip from a friend to try Dr. Kwan, after the first treatment feeling started coming back in her feet. She has gone once a week for several weeks and it's amazing the changes I have seen in her, she can walk without being in pain. So back to my knee replacement. Mary told me please try Dr, Kwan first. I reluctantly agreed. One of the best things I have ever done. I have had three treatments, the swelling is gone and the pain is greatly reduced. Dr. Kwan and his wife are amazing and wonderful people. So full of compassion and wanting to help people in pain. Thank you for what you do.

( price is very fair 80$ an hour- there is a 4% surcharge to use cards, so bring cash to save & don't forget to tip I asked for a NMT ( Neuromuscular Therapy massage ) which is stronger than most - and CC didn't disappoint! I was surprised at how strong she was . CC used her arms as well as hands for a deep soothing , almost stretching at times massage . She even pulled my fingers and I felt them pop ! That was so relaxing! This neck thing she did by pulling upward was also amazing ! As someone else has mentioned - English isn't the first language here so there are menus on the wall when you walk in - you point at the amount of time you want , the different types of massage ( Swedish , hot stone etc ) be sure you are clear . There is a clock that has a timer in your room - and you do get the ENTIRE hour! (Most places give you 45 min .) if you want lavender or coconut oil it's an extra 10$ ( I am not big on scents so didn't add this ) It was honestly the best massage I've had in Birmingham! CC is amazing ! And there is a system to how she worked ( I tried to point out my shoulders hold most tension & not sure she understood completely- but she covered EVERYTHING! She used a warm oil at one time and even took care to make sure my hair was covered w a towel ) They have a massage here I've never seen offered elsewhere in Bham -where they walk on your back ! ( I noticed the bars over the table where they hold on as they do this I think a lot of men must like this. ) . I didn't want that because I'm a 63-year-old woman. I would definitely use CC again. ) I cant recommend this place highly enough- BUT you need to be very clear about what you want -because as I said, English is not their first language . Someone left a bad review and mentioned that it looked dirty. (?) and not fancy enough compared to a Bham spa -I can tell you they don't spend their money on fancy furniture , but it is in a nice part of town. ( Vestavia ) i prefer to spend my $ on the actual massage as I have had some very bad massages at some very " fancy " spas and hotels . The entire placd was clean & simple . They had a hygienic face cover in place for me to place my face on.- the room is dark and calming w zen music I saw someone said they didn't think these people were LMT but of course they are licensed I didn't have to look at the degree to tell CC had been trained as a LMT . I have had friends that visited here & recommended to me & Im so grateful. There's not much talking during the massage but I could tell she was reacting to my sounds or if I moved ( etc ) if I said " that feels nice ", it was a strongest massage I have ever had from a woman , but she didn't hurt me I asked for your "Neuromuscular Therapy Massage" ( NMT )which is much stronger than a Swedish . I have never had a better massage ! I will be coming back here regularly. They're a wonderful place and no , they're not "fancy "if you want to pay $100 extra to go to a spa - you do you ! I have been getting massages in Birmingham for the last 20 years and I can tell you this is by far the best massage I've ever gotten . I look forward to trying the hot stone, Swedish & a foot massage soon! It's very easy to find and parking is simple - I called and asked for a massage at 2 pm - I wasn't asked to to fill out a bunch of forms and I was taken straight back.

He is highly intelligent and has…read morebeen well trained In acupuncture, traditional Chinese medicine and Naturopathic/holistic. I am sad that he no longer practices in the Fort Payne area. His practice is in Huntsville. He came to your small town to give you a better way of healing. He has decades of clinical experience and advanced education in natural medicine that can cure diseases. And so much more. The people of Fort Payne would rather be prescribed a bottle of pills to fix their problem not realizing that a natural way of healing has been practiced all over the world and is proven to work. The town had one of the best natural healers right here. In your tiny hillbilly back woods town you call home. And didn't realize it or just didn't want to step to far out of your comfort zone. For an example- I have had mono for nine months. With my bones aching I went to my primary care physician who sent medication to my local pharmacy and then says it might work but I don't know.If it does help let me know. I picked it up from my pharmacy and was livid the whole drive home. I walked in my house and threw the pills in the trash can. I'm on a new path to healing. And it's a proven method of treatment. All of you keep taking the drugs that might work and if it doesn't just keep trying more and more drugs until your body is so toxic and your still having the problem you needed help with. Fort Payne is a weird town. If you have never noticed , then there's something wrong with you. If you've traveled extensively or lived 30 years in another state or a large city ,one might call a metropolis, and you get off the exit to this town you can automatically feel the shift of oddity. Nothing has changed and it never will because everyone is small minded and big cities intimidate you and you hate driving in all that traffic. Trust me when I say we don't want you to drive through our city because you are usually the ones that mess up the flow of the traffic. Just stay where you've always been, doing the same thing you've always done, head back to your circle of friends who you believe love you but they actually don't. Live life in a bubble where nothing ever changes. Stay out of our cities where nobody cares when you flash your pageant smile. You stay here with nothing to do. And we will enjoy the variety of things to do. Always something to do. Never get bored. You can act like you want because the possibility of you crossing paths with the people you were around that day is slim to none. So keep your small town with nothing to do and keep working on that status you've always worked so hard for. Stay here. Please stay in your bubble.Thank you so much.

With her online scheduling site (https://www.massagebook.com/Southside~Massage~TherapeuticHealingMassage) you can easily find a time that suits your schedule. (Don't try to use the invalid healthwellnessspa.com site.) For almost 2 years now, I have come to Sherry monthly. I started with the "New Client" 60-minute therapy package and now I enjoy a 90-minute customized (Hot Stone & Bamboo) package that I look forward to each and every month. When I moved so Southside several years ago, I was searching and asking around for a good massage therapist. When I found out that Sherry was local, I thought I had hit the lottery! She is very professional and respects boundaries that certain spas have gotten in trouble for not respecting. I felt very comfortable with Sherry right from the start. Her entire environment (from waiting area to therapy room) is set up for relaxation and stress relief. She listens to you and knows the perfect therapy you need. For those who want a deep tissue massage, don't let Sherry's small statue fool you! She is STRONG! Whether you are a body builder or a wimp like me, she will apply whatever pressure you are comfortable with. I have referred several friends to her and every one of them have come back with the same story..."She's great!"

They told me to get undressed (they didn't tell me what to take off) and didn't even give me a blanket. I had to find it. Dr. Beth Sherer only put Acupuncture needles in my on the top of my head because I asked (she was giving me Acupuncture for Anxiety, and this is where you're supposed to put the needles mostly ) she said "oh I thought I couldn't put them there because of your hair claw." I think she was just trying to save time. Another Acupuncturist I had just asked me to take the hair claw off. It was more painful than other places I've been to. I laid there with the needles in for 20 minutes. That is the minimum. I told her I had chronic pain and 20 minutes for that is not enough according to my research (see phorltot). I think this place mainly serves veterans :) which is great because it's covered 100% for them. I had to pay $60. She definitely put the needles in the right spots because I felt relaxed afterwards, but mostly the loud music and the long wait (1 hr) turn me off. Disclaimer: if you're not sensitive to loud music, it won't be a problem for you, but I would think a lot of veterans are coming because of PTSD and chronic pain and loud music is just not calming for some people. Usually with body work/alternative medicine, there's very calming music in the background. I think the music was loud because the atmosphere seemed so hectic with so many people coming and going. I'd say it's a good deal if you get the bundle with the chiropractic and you don't mind a long wait and loud music. One last huge drawback was that the person taking the needles out couldn't find them all!! that's a red flag. I don't want to be walking out of there with a needle in me or touch it accidentally with my hand - that would really hurt. So, Acceptable but not good, but FREE for Veterans
