    Espresso and Fruit delicacy

We made a quick stop at Antico Caffe Greco! The service was very good and the espresso was also a treat. It seemed as if this place was very popular with visitors. While we didn't try any food, our experience was great.

So, this is a cafe that opened in 1760 and quickly became the "it" spot for many historic people including Hans Christian Andersen, Mark Twain, and Casanova. Therefore, the history of this place is very cool and interesting. However, the prices are wildly overpriced and there was a lack of mouthwatering pastries to choose from which was underwhelming. I think we paid 15 euros for 2 espressos which is absolute insanity! We were used to paying 1-2.50 for espressos so this place seemed to have a bit of price gauging going on since they're historic. I mean it was a cool experience but it wouldn't have made a difference if we skipped it.

Meh. Having been to this place over the years, it's still just overpriced and average compared to the other cafes in Rome. That said, it's a great meeting place for people visiting the city and it's literally within 50 feet of the Spanish steps. If you don't mind overpaying for coffee or an Aperol Spritz, give this place a try. From a historical perspective it's worth trying at least once...

It's good to live expensive, you know it. Want to dine like Gaga? You need to visit Café Greco! We dined here after finding out this is from the exact scene lady gaga comes out of from House of Gucci movie we got cappuccino freedo's and cannolis, both which were delicious! Happy to say this didn't disappoint and we were happy to get a spot indoors! The service was very quick!

I loved this place. Sure, it was expensive--but the ambiance was worth it. Like being in a Merchant Ivory film.

Walking distance from the Spanish Steps is this storied caffe. Our timing was perfect and we were able to experience Apertivo hour. Think of it as Italian happy hour but much more. You get snacks is some sort with your cocktail. Apertivo is suppose to get your digestive juices floating before dinner. A pre-dinner snack. We thoroughly enjoyed the snacks. Those olives! Mmm. The place is charming. The seating vignettes harken back to older times. The art on the walls beckon you to sit, enjoy and appreciate.

One of the oldest bars in Rome turned into coffee cafe establishment. To the worldly, impatient, hangry tourists, be patient with the staff; italian culture is super laid back. It may take a minute to get seated, then another minute for the menus. You'll have to flag down the waiter to place your order. But once you do, you won't regret it! As coffee culture goes, Antico Caffe Greco has the 2nd best coffee in Rome (my humble opinion of the best going to Sant Eustachio). Chocolatey flavors melding into one with the caffeine that is never burnt. My mouth waters still at the thought of their berries cheesecake- whose consistency was light, fluffy with the perfect amount of tart acidity in their berry topped syrup. Worth the stop and honestly in heat of the summer, Antico Caffe Greco's cool, calm interior does wonders to freshen you up a bit.

When in Rome - do it like they have for a long-time. Really great Irish Coffee, Caps were awesome and the Hot Chocolate is really off the charts. You can also break bread with a literary master!

Romeo & Juliet tea, salmon toast, prosciutto toast

Ambiance was pretty. The drinks were good. Food options were ok. Service was a bit slow. We were really just there for the history, to sit where the old literary icons once sat.

For those who knows me, I have a crazy sweet tooth. I'm so ELATED to find a cafe with incredibly delicious cakes and pastries. This cafe is very close to the Spanish Steps. We came here twice during our 3 days visit in Rome. They have seating and standing options. I would not recommend the seating option because the prices are three times more than the standing option and also service was slow. Order their PISTACHIO CAKE and the PISTACHIO CANNOLI. You absolutely cannot get this anywhere in Canada. We ordered a whole bunch of random pastries and everything were delectable! No complaints with the food. Cakes were moist and not overly sweet. So, if you need a break from walking, order at the cashier and bring your receipt to the bar, where they make your drinks. If you like cappuccino, you can even get it cold. Happy Eating!

Best coffee selection and Italian pastries. Known for its historic ties, this cafe offers best experience in terms of art, history, food, service and fine ambiance.

Loved it here during my trip to Rome. It was a nice place to stop when it was 100° with some classic Italian treats and drinks. The servers were great and very understanding of my inability to speak Italian. They didn't rush me out or make me unwelcome. I loved my experience and everything I tried.

Our hotel manager had suggested another restaurant, but I was apprehensive to try, but did later, more on that restaurant review in it's own post. I rather did what I should have done throughout the trip to, which is to search google for local reviews. This tactic I found to be much better than to trust American reviews for restaurants to visit from Youtube or even here, just because the American touristy taste tends to favor bland or Olive Garden style pseudo Italian. The real Italian taste is much different and something one needs to develop. I was familiar with European Italian food, as I had said before in other reviews that Mexico has better Italian food outside of Italy. Additionally, the good restaurants here in Italy do not open before 7 PM. If it does or if someone that looks foreign to Italy is outside trying to lure you in, it's a tourist restaurant with iffy flavor. At this restaurant my husband had the Lobster pasta and I had the spinach/ricotta ravioli, and we both were beyond satisfied. We also had the artichoke as an appetizer, and trusted the waiter with his suggestion for a bottle of wine. He must have been some genius because the wine went well with our meal. The ambience was cozy and very family oriented, however, the rain outside made it romantic for us. Another key point for this restaurant and it traditional flare was that they brought out the olive oil and red vinegar for our salad and of course olive oil for our wonderful home-made bread. I'm so glad we chose this place for those of us Americans who understand culinary cuisine.

They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and if you're sitting outside on a sunny day, the staff is very attentive about adjusting the shades so you're comfortable. They will adjust even without you having to ask. I ordered the artichoke as an appetizer which was very good, I recommend getting this if they are in season. I also ordered the carbonara, and it was by far the best I had while in Rome perfectly creamy, rich, and full of flavor without being too heavy. You can really tell they focus on doing the classics right. What stood out beyond the food was how efficiently the staff operated. Despite how busy the restaurant gets, they move quickly and keep everything running smoothly, which made the whole experience even better. Overall, this is a must-visit spot if you're in Rome. Expect a wait, but it's 100% worth it for the quality of the food and service.

By the time we were seated, dozens of people were waiting behind us. We sipped an Aperol spritz and lemonade while we waited, chatting with fellow diners who raved about the restaurant. On a sweltering day, our kids were starting to struggle in the heat when the owner came outside and gave them mini pizzas breads. It was a thoughtful gesture that immediately made us feel welcome. Once seated, we ordered burrata, cacio e pepe, amatriciana pasta, pork chops, and fried artichokes. Everything was excellent, but the amatriciana was the standout--rich, savory, and unforgettable. The cacio e pepe was silky, the burrata fresh and creamy, the pork chops juicy, and the fried artichokes perfectly crisp. There's a reason people line up for Da Enzo. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere lively, and the hospitality remarkable. Without question, this was our best meal in Rome and one of our most memorable restaurant experiences.

I have never seen so much salmon on one plate. After our meal, I made a discreet phone call to the Norwegian embassy in Rome asking them if they still had any salmon left. Being new to Rome, and having walked 20k steps on our first day, there are an abundance of options a for dining. We wanted something classically Rome nearby to our hotel. The Yelp review of this restaurant was sufficiently positive to entice us. Being American, we appreciate the earlier-than-customary dining options. We arrived at 6pm without a reservation. We were seated immediately. The restaurant is intimate and very well staffed. The wood fire oven is front-and-center and the fresh mozzarella is prominent in display. We ordered a bottle of wine ... all options are very fairly priced. This is nice. We started with a Greek salad to share. It was unlike any American Greek salad ... and a really delight. It is early June but the tomatoes and peppers were ripe and crisp and really fresh. My wife ordered the Marguerite pizza; I opted for the Gorgonzola pizza (the effusive review on Yelp was compelling). Both were solid. We appreciate the thin crust and the crisp edged. The center of both, however, was doughy and somewhat undercooked. Looking around ... the restaurant was over 50% full even at this early hour. Most were Americans. We saw a good number of diners with pasta dishes ... and none were left unfinished. Sadly, we don't have any comparisons to weigh (yet). So, I cannot affirm any "best of" citations, it this is certainly a solid trattoria/pizzeria. The staff are attentive and the food served hot and fresh.
