The playground is split into an older kids side and a younger kids side, with 1 entry (and a fence surrounding). Visibility isn't perfect but the single entry point is great if you want to stand in the middle to keep an eye on kiddos. Great spot for play dates (come with a coffee!). There are portapotties at the park and a real restroom a small walk down the path. Park is great for kids to use their imaginations and play, which is so much fun. Great spot to bring a ball and play catch or picnic to sit and relax or bikes! Can get hot - wear sunscreen if the weather is nice. Friends said it's also fun to bring bikes or a stroller and hit up the cafe (a bit of distance from the playground) and have some sweet potato fries.

Probably because it is kind of hidden all the way back in the park. Wooden coasters are designed to be shaky and give that going off the rails feeling. It's sad that this one is a lot smoother than the steel one because those are supposed to be much smoother. Some tips. As with any coaster, the best seats are usually all the way in the back where you can feel the full G forces when you go down drops and sharp turns. For this ride, you are not allowed to ride it without shoes. No, there is no camera that takes your pic for you to purchase. There is a small shack at the exit that wasn't open so I assume that would of been it. There are no storage bins to put your loose articles in like glasses, hats, etc. You can just put on the ground next to the wall and pick it up as soon as you get off the ride. Minimum height requirement is 48 inches. Overall, The price of admission is not worth it for the whole park. Even if you chose to swim the water park part of it, I think it is still overpriced for most of the park is not maintained properly. Refer to my Wild Waves theme park review. Ferry Park is right in the middle of the street. The street divides around it which makes it very unique and memorable. In addition to that there is some signage that illustrates the history of the park which is very interesting. It sounds like this is Tacoma's first park which is cool. On these signs it describes the various face lifts the park has gone through over the years and how back in the 1940's the children in the neighborhood launched a protest due to the park experiencing disrepair and the removal of amenities. The children won out in that one. The park isn't a very big one so some of the changes that it has gone through is moving playground equipment to one corner of the park so the rest can be a playing field. At one point in time there were quite a few statues here but some got moved to Wright Park. Currently there aren't any statues at all. Kind of a sad thing... as the signs indicate that the park has experienced disrepair and neglect in the past it seems like the same issues remain. There are large cotton wood trees around the park fence and a very large branch came and struck one part of the fence, really busting it up. I'm not sure if this was recent or not... it appeared to be and may have been due to recent snowy weather but it is a bit of a concern as to how soon the repairs could happen. In comparison to other parks in town Ferry Park is definitely more on the basic side. There are no water features, pools to play in the summer (but there once was) or anything like that but the merit I found with this park was more it's history than anything else.

Had it not been for that, I probably wouldn't have heard of this beautiful park. It's in a super random spot, easy to miss. There's a large parking lot with lots of lighting, so it feels pretty safe. When you're in the parking lot you can see a large bridge but not much else, so you don't really understand how large it is until you get past the bridge! There's a large playground with quite a few play structures - a larger one for older kids, a climbing area, and a smaller play structure for toddlers. Beyond the play structure, there's quite a bit of paved walking trail that loops around the park. Since this is a garden park, there's lots of flowers and stuff to look at while you're on the trail. There's covered picnic areas, as well as grills too! I thought this park was brand new with how well-manicured it is and how nice the playgrounds are, but it was actually built in 2018! If you're in the area this park is definitely worth the stop - especially if you have kids!

The last review written to this park was eight years ago. Not sure what all has changed since then…read more(or why they gave it two-star review, but we had an excellent time while visiting here. We are staying at a hotel nearby and I literally just picked the closest park to our location with a playground. There's a variety of toys, exercise equipment, picnic tables, clean sidewalks, and plenty of grass to run in. Lots of seating and several garbage cans to reduce the amount of trash laying around, or at least a place to put it if you find some. There are a couple of basketball hoops being used by older kids, multiple picnic areas, and a kids zip line! One feature I really appreciated is a baby swing that has a larger swing coupled with it so that you can put your baby in and swing with them in the same rhythm. Super cool. There's a little bit of everything for everyone, so we will definitely be back. I will bring my dog and older kids next time

I've gone to this park a few times now and there's never any other kids here playing, but there is a lot of adults/teens here. The last time I was here the park was littered with trash, cigarettes, broken glass bottles and drug paraphernalia which is when I decided to not return here anymore and just leave. On a positive note.. the park has a lot of awesome equipment for kids to play on - especially the zip line. Hopefully things change and the park becomes usable for kids to actually play on without having to worry about stepping on glass, etc.
