As we entered, I said to my wife, "wow this place smells like my grandmother's." As I stopped to look at some of the clothes on a rack, the owner steps out from behind the counter and says, "I want you to know that I wash everything in here - twice - in unscented soap." There was no Hello, or Good Morning. So I said that she had overheard my comment and that it was not meant to be offensive, just a nice memory. ...and not believing me, she went on to berate me again for commenting on her store. I left immediately. There are other stores in this town that have better selections and certainly a lot nicer people.

Winters Past has a huge but well-curated selection of vintage clothing and jewelry that would do a large city shop proud. Plus, prices are reasonable--something it can be very hard to find. The owner and other staff are delightful and helpful, giving information about individual pieces and pulling out specific looks to "play with".
