A surprisingly great spot in the thrift community! My daughter, who is a big fan of thrift and consignment stores, needed a few things for her dorm. I suggested before we went to Target, how about we stop by a thrift store or 2 to see if we liked something there. We drove and parked in the lot. One thing that splits of thrifts stores is some are a mess, and some are clean and sharp inside. Flashbacks has sharp. They had some fun music playing, and few employees around to help, and alot of stuff everywhere. There was the expected racks of clothes, well organized. We checked through some, some for her, some for me. There was also many areas of knickknacks and such. They were on shelves, displayed in interesting ways. There was also kitchen items. We actually found 3 of the things she was needing in the first 10 minutes of looking. My daughter was very happy to "strike gold" and a new thrift shop. It's always nice to reuse things, there can be alot of value at a good thrift store. read more

It had been several years since I checked out the record shop here so I thought I'd stop in for the latest vinyl and import CDs they had in stock. Uh oh!! No mas!! It's now Flashbacks, a really cool used clothing store. But wait! They have more to offer than that! If you need help furnishing a new apartment, you'll find everything you need here. Furniture, cool décor, bric a brac, books, lighting, shelving, etc. They also have really great jewelry for a nominal price. The vintage/collectable case up front is where I found myself ooing and ahhing though. There's definitely something for everyone and the best part is like it's predecessor, they purchase your gently used items. I'm sad about the record store no longer being here but there's still some great tunes being played...albeit from a jukebox. read more

Until the recent addition of furniture and mid century design items I routinely picked up most of my clothes from flashbacks. Recently I was able to furnish a small apartment with everything from flashbacks, except my towels and sheets and so on. They offered to deliver however they also gave me the option of a week to pick it up which I took advantage of and returned several times with my small car. I have been thrifting for 20 years and this is a very unusual shop in comparison. In my opinion is in a league of its own. I have been in several times since and new stuff seems to arrive constantly. I need a better$ job so I can buy this cool picture!! I have relatives from Miami who have been back twice for Mid-century furniture they couldn't live without. They tell me it was a steal. I came in here on a friend's recommendation for their clothing selection, and they do have really unique pieces as well as jewelry and antiques. But I won't be coming back because I felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome the entire time. There were a half dozen panhandlers by the doors when I arrived which set the uncomfortable tone. When I walked in, and throughout my 30 minute visit, I was not acknowledged or spoken to by any of the 3-4 employees in the store. I felt as if I was bothering them as they walked past me, avoiding eye contact. There were also customers being really flamboyant and cursing obnoxiously throughout the store, which is no fault of the owners but just added to the really unwelcome feeling. I'm sure many will enjoy this grungy, vintage shop because of the cool finds, but I can't bring myself to patronize a business with such bad customer service. read more

I ran across this store online this weekend and stopped by today while I was in Gainesville. I absolutely love this store. It was clean, very well organized, and the young gentleman working was friendly and very polite. I would have stayed longer if I'd had the time. It's a couple hours away for me but definitely worth a trip every now and then. I'd spend too much money if I lived closer. I hope to make it down for one of their pop-up events in the future. One thing to note: Today was a holiday so I called ahead to make sure they were open. They have adjusted hours posted so be sure you call and check if you're coming in from out of town. Many, many places have understandably adjusted their operating hours so it's just a good idea to check first for any store. read more

Whether I'm going for something specific (like a themed party costume or apartment decoration) or going just to shop around, I NEVER leave empty handed. Only reason I give it 4 stars is because they have this dang CocaCola machine on display that I would purchase in a second but it is/probably will never be for sale. Such a tease. The vibe is very basement retro which is a perfect tone for finding your next unexpectedly trendy outfit. I bought a shirt for $7.95 ("Air Jordans Fresh Since 1985"). First off, I love this place. I ALWAYS find clothing that looks and fits great every time I shop there. The prices are super reasonable, especially on clothing. I love the new addition with the furniture and home decor pieces. Some of those things are a little out of my price range for my super slim budget, but I did purchase a solid, vintage dresser for $100 (they came down on the price a bit for me) :), which I couldn't be happier with! It's so beautiful and really such a rare find. The owner is extremely helpful and friendly; he's even given me a great deal on a frame, and helped me find what I was looking for on multiple occasions. The reason I wanted to write this review was because (Flashbacks is awesome, obviously) and I was pretty confused as to why the store's rating is based on only 7 reviews, when there are 11 reviews total, leaving 4 other *hidden* reviews labeled as "not relevant." And those just so happen to be all 5 star reviews...After reading them, I felt they were all extremely valid OR, should I say, *relevant* because I consider myself a pretty loyal, regular customer who goes there a lot and would agree that all those 4 reviews are entirely relevant. What's up with that, Yelp? Anyway, rant over. I would, (and do), recommend this place to everyone in town! Y'all rock! read more

This is a store that caters to student hipsters, with high prices. The clothes part has a good selection. You can get something unique and with maybe a hipster look (as opposed to business casual). They don't prewash the clothes, so the store has a bad smell. I came here because someone said it was good for furniture. No, it's not. Furniture section is a total wash. Furniture is good. Generally it looks interesting and is solid wood. It is so expensive, though. It is twice the price of an upscale antique mall. If you have money to burn, I guess good for you. I am all about antiques, bohemian look, and solid wood, but this place is so pricey not from here. Knick knacks a plenty, at about thrice the price of Goodwill but a better selection. read more

This store was really cool when I walked in but after looking through the racks of clothes for a while I noticed that the clothes were quite overpriced. This store is a hidden treasure in Gainesville. I find that they always have a good selection of both modern and vintage fashions, which allows me to have the flexibility to find a lot of different things while shopping. I also love the way that the store is organized, since the store is divided into "modern" and "vintage" sections. I've come here for everyday outfits, trinkets, costumes, etc. They are good about stocking up on stuff for holidays, such as Halloween and Christmas. They have lots of costumes and accessories for Halloween and A TON of ugly sweaters for Christmas. If you need to find something (even if it is pretty random), I would recommend coming to this store, since I have not been disappointed yet. It's a great store to go to if you have a purpose in mind (like an outfit for an event) or if you just want to randomly go thrifting. read more

My friends and I visited this store with nothing specific in mind, and walked out with amazing buys! I found a beautiful pair of Justin boots for only $25.00 dollars! There is such a great selection of items, from modern up to date clothing to vintage and "country". I wish there was a Flashbacks in Miami. A gentleman who I believe was the store owner was there and he was also extremely helpful and friendly. If he is not the owner then he is a great store manager and treats the place as his own. read more

After an initial lukewarm experience a few months ago, I came back because I needed to pay my power bill. I sell vintage online and have previously resold professionally in NYC. I accepted most of the offers on my pieces and walked out with over $100 and a "new" 70s blouse. I spoke with the owner and had things clarified and I will definately be back with more vintage pieces! I am so glad there is a store in town that buys vintage on the spot and I love the new buy counter! read more

I really like this vintage stores. I come here every time I have a lay over . Prices are reasonable compare to other vintage store I visited in the past. 70s clothing is prices reasonable compare to NYC or LA . I seem to have luck with the 70s clothing but vintage is a hit or miss. The staff are helpful if u need help otherwise they leave u alone. I did notice they change the hours to noon. read more

I had a surprise gift for my daughter and the woman that waited on me went ahead and put it in a box for me with out my asking her to. I thought that was very sweet of her.
