Service was horrible! The waiter sat me off to a corner and totally forgot about me. It took forever to get a drink, took forever to get my food, and the waiter never even came back to check on me. There was a huge line of people waiting to pay... this could be a great restaurant but definitely needs better systems put in place to better serve their customers. One of the best places to eat. You have to try the Caldo Tlalpeno. Just be sure to have them put the chipotle on the side if you don't like spicy. It's not hot but since it ferments then it can make the soup taste heavy on the spices. read more

Had the pozole this afternoon; I'd been craving really good pozole for a while. I can easily say it was the most flavorful pozole I'd ever had. Each spoonful was a cherished moment. Totally legit! For the Imperial Valley, this place certainly stands out from the dozens of other Mexican restaurants. For one, it seems like the owners of this restaurant actually care about your dining experience, as they should. Even the decor and pictures on the walls spoke of effort. I was pleasantly surprised to see a concise amount of items on the menu, which was a sign to me that what they offered would be a quality meal. There is NO restaurant like this one. Don't expect your ordinary combo 1,2, and 3's here. The cook should be a gourmet chef. He can make a Huarache(mexican sandal) taste good. The coffee he makes is better than any Starbucks. The Agua's are all made from scratch. The orange water is SO good. They are all good just pick the flavor you like and you will LOVE Antojitos. Food is always fresh and made to order. The service is exceptionally good. The Imperial Valley is best known for bad service but you will NOT get that here. They are informative and helpful. If you are there when they have the Borrego(lamb) special, try it, you will love it. It feeds two easily. Always ask for the specials because they are just that special. Lastly, try the Posole' Verde. Like all the other soups, they are great, but the verde is the best. It is a small place and although not hard to find you will be surprised by how small the place is and the amount of business they have. read more

Authentic, delicious, fresh! Husband and I travelling in the area, found this place through Yelp and what a treat. Noticed immediately that the restaurant is clean and welcoming. We were seated by very friendly young man who turned out to be the owner. We ordered the aguas frescas - so refreshing! And great hand made corn chips and spicy-savory salsa. Then came our entree enchiladas, rice and beans - all made from scratch including the red enchilada sauce. Yummy garnish of eye-catching, grilled whole jalapeno and green onion. Nice touch! We ate it all! While finishing our meal and enjoying the decor, the owner surprised us with banana flan. We ate every bite of that too...couldn't stop. Gourmet Mexican food in a casual bright setting. Sure wish this restaurant was in our neighborhood. This is some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. I have read good reviews on yelp for this place. My wife's colleague decided to take us there. I was pleasantly surprise by the ambiance of the place. The staff was friendly. I had the lamb shanks and wife had the green sauce tacos. The shanks were unusual for a Mexican restaurant. However, all the food was very salty even the free chips and salsa. For the serving and quality of food, i think the price was the high side. Will probably not return again. read more

A very disappointed experience, very poorly service, not many menu choices and a disorganized crew. We waited for more then 30 minutes and we still didn't have any salsa and chips. The table next to us came after us and got served salsa and chips and drinks. I went to the front and requested some chips and never brought them. My cousin had to go and get them herself! I've been here multiple times and every time it gets better. For a small town and an even smaller hidden restaurant this one really is the gem of the valley. As far as authenticity goes it's number one and it's mutually met with simple but defining flavors the rest of the valleys restaurant wouldn't even think of creating. For example: my boyfriend and I went in and had a banana horchata. homemade Banana horchata people! Who would have known that could be made. The salsa and chips are in smaller quantities but no extra charge if you want more. I recommend the beans, anything with them is amazing. One of the best huevos rancheros I have had. The red salsa was excellent. The salsa is what makes a difference. The waitress that took my order was friendly and courteous. When it came to asking for the check it was not the same one. This was a heavy set woman. Was not friendly at all. She returned with the bill and my credit card and just stood there until I signed. Restaurant was extremely busy, which we took as a good sign, so we were excited to try this place out this morning. Waited 30 minutes, yes 30 and no chips or drinks at our table, no order taken. At the 20 minute mark, asked if we could have chips while we waited (they were being placed on other tables around us, but not ours). We saw the table seated AFTER us getting their order taken and drinks being served as we STILL waited to have our order taken. We were in town for a family reunion, not a place I would consider revisiting.
