Absolutely love this salon! It is unpretentious (which is hard to find in the Gables). Never loud or "chusma", extremely accommodating and clean. Mario & Ozzy go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. I've been coming here for about a year and have always had a great experience. Mario takes his time listening to what you want and then gives his professional opinion based on your features, skin tone, etc.. Sometimes what we want or see on celebrities is not necessarily what works for us - and I appreciate that about him. Upon arrival and check-in you are offered coffee, tea, water and best of all, wine. They always have wine. My mother has been a client of Ozzie for years and has always asked me to take the drive as she heard horror story after horror story about my experiences at another place. I SERIOUSLY regret not doing so sooner..Mama knows best!!! I am always greeted at Anton Acero with enthusiasm and every service is always completed with professionalism and attention to detail. All the staff offer top notch service. My color was chosen and applied with care. My blow outs are always perfect. They are all so professional and attentive! I always come out of the salon feeling confident about every single service that was performed. On my last visit Marlene fixed my eyebrows and she did it with care. She took her time fixing them and making sure I was happy with the outcome. I usually wax them, but she convinced me to let her try tweezers and she ended up doing most of the work with the tweezers. I am always a cry baby and was amazed how gentle the process can be. Needless to say I will be making the drive for Marlene. I had purchased their Living Social deal for a keratin treatment and had no problem using the certificate on a Saturday afternoon, with reservation of course. Mario greeted me as soon as I walked through the door. The staff is super friendly, the salon is clean and modern. They offer really good coffee, water and wine while you're getting beautified. You can watch music videos or catch up on your latest fashion magazines. The treatment itself was thorough and nice. It did not have that formaldehyde smell other keratin treatments can have. Mario was constantly checking on me, whether the dryer was too hot, whether I wanted more water, whether the keratin was getting into my eyes. I couldn't have asked for better service. Another nice thing about the product they use is you only have to leave it on for a day, not a full three days like other treatments. My hair was definitely nice and shiny when I walked out. I'm curious to see if the treatment lasts as long as the others I've had. I will continue to get my hair cuts from Natasha at Vidal Sassoon - she is awesome and I hope she never moves! I moved to Miami a few months ago and was worried about finding somebody to cut my hair. On Saturday I found my go-to spot. This was an incredible experience. Allow me to break it down. Mario cut my hair, and spent time listening to what I wanted from the cut. Not only for right now, but in the months to come (I recently got engaged so he made a plan that accounted for my wanting more length, and the way that the layers would grow in). He even talked to me about the way Miami water affects hair, and specifically how that would affect my haircut. I was really impressed by the care he took in determining the cut and later, the way he evaluated my haircare routine based on the health of my hair and things like my workout habits. The cut is beautiful, not only in the salon (where I received a truly gorgeous blowout, Mario even whipped out a curling iron to give me "Miami hair") but this morning, after I'd gone to bed with wet hair, I woke up to bleary eyes and a great hairstyle. Total magic. I have really fine hair, and it's always been hard for me to find somebody who cuts it right. Having been spoiled in my previous location, I'm thrilled to have found Mario and his incredible hair-cutting abilities. Finally, I really appreciated the quality service I received. I was never pressured to purchase a product or more services, and was not told to hurry back to the salon to keep my cut looking nice, instead told that four months or so should be fine. I was offered a wide selection of beverages, and was asked repeatedly if the water in my tea needed freshening, if I were comfortable, if anything could be done to make me more comfortable. The thought of going to Anton Acero Beauty Studio brings calm and relaxation to mind. I never have anxiety whether I have to sit in a beauty salon all day long. As a mother of two, time is very valuable to me and being away from my kids for a full day to beautify myself is near to impossible. That's one of the reasons why I love coming here. They are always on time with their appointments and they aren't moving between clients. During your appointment you are there primary focus. When you walk in you are greeted by all the hairstylist, but primarily by Ozzy and Mario. There are so many good things to say about them, but I will leave it to just how attentive and truly caring they are to make sure you look and feel good. Once you are greeted you are immediately offered something to drink (remember what I said about relaxation in the beginning): wine, water, soda, etc... Soon after you have your consultation with you hair dresser and move forward with the beauty process. Throughout your time here you are constantly asked if you are feeling ok or need anything. LOVE THEM! Another amazing thing about Ozzie and Mario is their love for children. My children love coming here as well. They get their haircut with Ozzie and they wouldn't ask for anyone else. They make the kids feel good and comfortable. When I go to Anton Acero, I can literally close my eyes and truse whole-heartedly that when I open them, I will see every result I hoped for and more. I was never one to really get expensive treatments or go to salons, and the few times I did further re-affirmed my reasons for staying away. I ask for an trim, I get 6 inches off or I ask for subtle highlights and I end up a barby or a carrot top. After those kind of salon experiences, I became a DIY kinda gal. When he moved salons, I followed him, and now that he has his own salon I don't go anywhere else. The place is clean and in a nice location, With great lighting...but I felt very unwelcome with the two guys working that day, they were talking to each other and completely ignoring their clientele. I felt like... They were doing work for the sake of doing it... Present in their conversation and mechanically working.... I just felt disregarded...and really just wanted the experience to be over. Normally I enjoy being at the salon, and feeling pampered, But the experience was disappointing. I left here feeling like I overpaid and very dissatisfied with their customer service. I was looking for a new salon closer to home and found this absolute GEM through Yelp. I was desperate to go back to my natural hair color, after many years (and dollars) of highlighting/lowlighting it. My former stylist would always advise against dyeing my hair darker because "I'm a blonde" (except I'm not...). The first time I called, I was very impressed by how professional and polite the staff was. They actually ask you what YOU want and LISTEN to you! They booked me an appointment with Ozzy and although I was very nervous to be seeing a new stylist, I felt at ease as soon as I walked into the salon. The whole experience was flawless. Ozzy took the time to explain the entire process to me, answer any questions that I had, set realistic expectations (including letting me know I'd need a future touchup that would cost X), and then off we went! The results were amazing; after years of being told "it's not a good idea," they took me back to my natural hair color in two short processes for a very reasonable price. My hair has been growing and there is no discernable line between my dyed hair and my real hair. Ozzy is extremely talented in both color and cutting. The salon is beautiful and gives off a very relaxing vibe. What impressed me the most was the attention that the staff gives you. They aren't busy on their cell phones, talking to other staff members, or disappearing in the back. They are front and center, talking to you, asking you if you need anything, maintaining the salon, and that is very hard to find in South Florida. read more

It has taken me far too long to write this review... I have never been happier with a stylist! I have tried quite a few places in New York of all different price ranges, and win stylists of various experience, and I have never been as pleased with their work as I have of Mario's! I alternate between a half head and full head of blonde highlights, and Mario creates the perfect tone I am seeking without causing damage to my hair. He offers great advice that I have taken to care for my blonde hair and he is right every time! Before starting the process, he takes the time to consult you and figure out exactly what look you are striving for, he is not too pushy with his opinions at all, he offers his professional perspective, respectfully. He takes his time with my hair to ensure my ultimate satisfaction. Not to mention we have such great conversation throughout the entire process that time flies! I can't forget to also note that every other member on staff is so polite, kind, and considerate, that it feels like I have been welcomed into the home of a family and that I am the guest of honor. I recently scheduled a hair relaxer with my usual hairdresser. When I showed up for my appointment I was told that there was a mixup and he's not scheduled to come in until 2 pm. I was given a choice to have Ozzie take over my appointment. Unfortunately I made the bad mistake of trusting him with my hair. I was left with hair that was falling out in handfuls. Since I made the decision of not having it dried I didn't realize how burnt my hair was until 2 days later when I washed my hair. I brought it to their attention and they told me that my hair reacted poorly to the relaxer and they can apply a product to make it softer and bring back the shine. Even after this product was applied I continued to lose hair. Between the hair loss in the salon and through my own washings I lost 1/3 of my hair which is very visible because it broke about 1 inch from the root. After contacting them once again I still have not received a refund on the botched job they've performed and my hair is still falling out with even the slightest touch. They've only offered to continue to perform the moisturizer treatments. Unfortunately I wouldn't trust them with the unwanted hair on my body let alone what's left of my hair on my head. My next apt is with another salon to cut what ever amount is necessary to try to prevent more hair loss. read more

My hair stylist was Jorge - he did a fantastic job at listening to what I wanted and gave me a fabulous haircut that was exactly what I asked for. He also personally washed my hair and gave me a wonderful scalp massage for a good 10 minutes. Heaven! The salon is chic, clean, and comfortable. They offered me a drink right away and the coffee they gave me was excellent - cafe quality. I've been in Miami 3 years now, and I've been salon hopping this whole time. I found this place...you guessed it!...on Yelp. And I couldn't be more glad that I did! I called the salon on a weekday afternoon at 3pm and asked if they could fit me in at 3:30. Baddabing! Done! The girl at the front desk was lovely. I was immediately introduced to my stylist, Jorge (a recent transplant from California), and asked if I wanted anything to drink. Jorge I can't say enough great things about! He gives the greatest scalp massage on the planet and the tea tree oil shampoo he uses is an instant refresher! As for the cut, he actually LISTENED to what I wanted (trim up the bangs, put in some layers but keep the length, and take some of the volume out so my wavy mane wouldn't look so unruly), and gave me the best cut I've ever had (and I am no stranger to celebrity salons the likes of the now-defunct MarcoLuca)!!! I walked in feeling frazzled after weeks of studying for the Bar exam. I walked out relaxed and feeling like a movie star!!! I followed Christian from his last salon to Anton Acero. I am one of those people that HATES going to the salon because (1) I don't like a lot of small talk and (2) I've had a lot of bad hair cut experiences. It took me years to find Christian, and I won't even consider another salon or stylist. Most just want to chop off my long hair due to damage, but Christian respects that I like having long hair and takes off as little as possible to keep it looking healthy and long. I also referred my friend to him, and she won't go to anyone else either. He also respects his clients in that, if you want to talk, he'll talk. If you just want to sit there, he won't force you into awkward small talk As for the salon itself, it's clean and modern. Everyone is so nice, and they offer you something to drink as soon as you walk in. The coffee is always good, but maybe I'll try the wine next time. :) read more

Where do I begin...I have been getting my hair done with Ozzie for the past 6 years, he is absolutely amazing! He has seen me through cutting and styling my long unruly curly hair to making drastic changes like my fabulous Victoria Beckham cut (donating my hair to locks of love). He has always guided me in the right direction with his suggestion of hair styles; I always get a ton of compliments on my cuts long or short. Plus he has always given me tips and "taught" me how to duplicate the different styles at home...warning me of the "high maintenance" cuts because I tend to be a low maintenance type person In my opinion he is a genius; my haircuts have been absolutely flawless...seemingly tailored to fit me perfectly...6 years later with many hair cuts and styles and not one complaint. In regards to the salon staff, they are incredibly attentive and pampering making you feel comfortable and spoiled.
