My 10-year-old microwave oven finally broke down and I needed to install a new one which is inset into the kitchen cabinet as the old one. The installation is not difficult but was tricky in some small details. I called Anytime Handyman and Tyler the boss called me back in a short time. He explained his charges and scheduled an appointment. Bob and Ricky showed up on time for the job. The new microwave oven is of the same type as the old one, but the height is about one inch shorter leaving a gap between top of m. oven and the cabinet. Bob tried several ways to fill the gap, I must say he was quick-thinking and creative in finding a solution. He and Ricky used some remnants of the original cabinet work to fill up the gap. No more gap on top of the m. oven and the look was perfect! I really appreciate their practical and creative problem solving. The final charge was exactly what Tyler had quoted on the phone. Would not recommend! Unprofessional and a complete disappointment,.. Terrible communication skills and overcharging for materials Owner Tyler talks a good spiel, yet struggled to manage his workers who couldn't finish a relatively simple job replacing 2 doors and 2 window sills. Tried for a couple of days and still fell short and not able to complete. Left the job unfinished and butchered, Lots of wasted time talking. When I reviewed the driveway and garage camera footage, I realized this was a huge part of their inefficiency. New guy showed up an hour late and the lead 2 1/2 hours late Owner made a lot of excuses for bad decisions, delivering materials in the rain without properly covering them (damaged and blistered door skins) then providing a faulty tent full of holes for his guys to work under which finally left them completely ruined... from this, he replaced and then charged me again. The good: The worker they sent, Adrian was fantastic. Did a great job and was very nice. Frank (the owner) is a nice guy and seems very knowledgeable. The bad: They were an hour and a half late with no communication, no email, call or text with a revised ETA. It's OK to be late but let me know what the new ETA is. The Ugly: no receipt for the work, none. Once I paid them (over the phone), total silence. My emails, texts and messages asking for a receipt were ignored. Needed a security door installed for my parents home. Sent the info. via their website and within no time received a reply back. Was able to schedule the install within a weeks time. Fast forward - the day of the install they noticed they weren't going to be able to properly install the door due to some existing electrical wire casing that would be in the way of the new door frame etc. They spent about a good 4 hours making sure the final install would be clear and free from all wiring and the best possible solution. Bob came over to take care of the job and arrived about 15 minutes early, which was perfectly OK with me. He had a great work ethic and personality. He was thorough, explained what needed to be done, kept me updated as completed the work, and cleaned up when finished. Very responsive. Easy to get ahold of. Work was not up to my expectations but there may have been some issues I wasn't aware of because I was trying to coordinate repairs remotely with tenants in a rental. They charge $85/hour which sounds inexpensive but that also means time to get parts or supplies if owner does not have them on hand in advance. Price ended up being about $100 higher than anticipated (compared to other quotes). I would suggest going with a flat rate quote rather than a "per hour" charge. They also need to get paid immediately which may be problematic if someone is trying to get repairs done for a parent or relative and they are not present when the job is completed. read more
