Well, it's been 12 years since the JCC took out a no trespass order against me. My only 'crime'…read morewas to witness, over the course of 6 months, more than half a dozen instances where staff of the JCC daycare mistreated, both physically and verbally, young children under their care. My mistake was in trusting the then director, Randy Freeman, to do the right thing. What I should have done was to call Childline and let them handle it. Randy found none of emails of complaint valid, even relating to instances of mistreatment where I had other witnesses. The JCC was going through renovations as the time and they didn't want anything to jeopardize them, so they made up some nonsense about me. I'm not perfect; however, I stand behind my words and actions always. I recently thought about requesting the JCC remove the trespass order so I can go back. I need the pool like I need oxygen. However, after perusing pictures of the staff and the board, I decided I didn't wish to ever see these people again. 'Everyone is welcome'. Yea, except the righteous Jewish disabled war veteran. The athletic club has a very familiar feel to it- the staff recognize individual patrons and get to know you naturally; nobody is trying to charm or upsell you and everyone is kind and welcoming to my children. The babysitting room being included with membership and not a separate fee (as at the majority of gyms) is such an underrated feature that makes this gym accessible and family-focused. The equipment isn't bright and shiny, but I like it that way. I've found the pool to be well cared for. Overall the amenities are suitable for getting the job done and there's never been an instance where I haven't gotten an excellent workout.
