Because I couldn't get a parfait, I got a two-scoop ice cream to share with my boyfriend with the toppings we would have wanted in the parfait. Warabimochi is my favorite for the jelly texture and light flavor dusting. The staff was patient and friendly with me while I tasted every flavor ice cream available. Matcha taste goes from Lv 1 to Lv 8, the most bitter. Matcha Lv 4 was on the more bitter side but something I liked at first bite, so that's what I got. If I could go back, I think I'd get Lv 3. There's only one flavor for the Hojicha (Roasted Green Tea) scoop, which was comparable or somewhere in the middle of Lv 3 and 4. I think I'd go back to try the soft serve or parfait. read more

Still operating under a soft opening during our visit in July 2026, this location is an adjunct to Kyuramen--a co-marketing arrangement that seems to be a growing pattern for the Kyuramen brand. Aoko Matcha offers Matcha Frappes, Lattes, and Gelato. We tried the gelato today, which comes in six levels of matcha (#1, #2, #3, #4, #5, and #8), plus Hojicha and Yuzu flavors. If you order at the counter, they let you sample the flavors first. Otherwise, there's a convenient ordering kiosk if you already know what you want. Personally, I couldn't tell much of a difference between levels 1 through 3. At level 4, I started to taste a bit of bitterness, and levels 5 and 8 were progressively more bitter and less sweet. I ended up getting a scoop of level 5 which I could easily tolerate. It was a good treat , but I honestly crave matcha soft-serve more and was a bit surprised it isn't offered on the menu. read more

My daughter wanted to try different intensity of matcha gelato. We asked the staff but was not offered the tasting. Perhaps, because they were packed. So she chose level 1 and 3, in case 3 was too much for her. $9.50 for gelato is a bit steep without knowing if she would like it or not. Matcha crème frappe was nothing unusual. Affagoto I like most out of all. I will probably give another chance for the service and hopefully the store has a better service. read more

Drinks: I got the Matcha frappe for $10 and Matcha ice cream $7. The drinks were fine, ice cream is on a grade from one through eight, which is nice and you can pick your option. 1 is like your typical Matcha ice cream you get at the grocery store, 8 is your bitter "real" matcha taste w almost no sweetness. The real reason for lack of stars is the service- I waited for 20 minutes for my one drink, before it became busier. Once it got busy I think they just forgot about it so I had to ask if my drink was ready. I get that they just opened but I think they are probably still adjusting to the fast paced service on busy days. So for $10 I think I would have had a better experience getting matcha somewhere else.. Also on their website order they advertise having soft serve, which they do not. read more

I've been seeing this place on social media and am so happy the finally opened one in Cherry Hill. It's located inside a small shopping plaza and they share the space with Kyuramen. I was specifically interested in their matcha ice cream which had different intensities of matcha. The girl at the counter was very nice and offered samples of the flavors. While 8 was very good (no sugar), I really liked 4 as it was happy medium for me. I paired that with a scoop of yuzu ice cream and thought the flavors went so well together. Matcha was super good. Strawberry flavor for their strawberry matcha wasn't that good in my opinion at all. If you like a sweet matcha this place is a little more authentic in taste. Excellent customer service from Cheryl. She throughly explained my many questions. My wife and I got the Matcha Crepe, Matcha Crème Cheese Latte, and Hojicha Tea. The Crepe was delicate and soft with a creamy Matcha filling between each layer. My wife loved her Latte. Not my favorite but to each their own. The tea was something I've never had. I got it unsweetened and added Splenda. It was good, nothing mind blowing. Their ice cream (or gelato idk) options were matcha, hojicha, and another flavor I don't remember. The Matcha ice cream came with 8 options from Matcha 1 to Matcha 8. I sampled 1 and 8. Matcha 1 being a more traditional ice cream with hints of Matcha opposed to Matcha 8 being less thrills and having a strong Matcha flavor with little sweet taste. Almost bitter tasting. I enjoyed both but for the average person I'd recommend an ice cream matcha closer to 1 than 8. They have a kiosk to order or cash register. I'm new to the area from California and we are so spoiled with matcha spots down there. However I found this spot on tik tok and came by today and I would claim that it is up there with the spots in SoCal. This is real matcha and the color is so fire. At the time I went they don't have the soft serve yet, only the gelato ice cream and 2 choices of crepe cakes. Customer service is very good. They allow taste test on different levels of matcha. I would say the quality of their matcha is really good. 100% has that kick of a 100%. Yuzu was refreshing, while Hojicha or was that horchata has that good earthy taste. This place is legit. There's been a few matcha places pop up recently in the area, and i've tried them all. I even drive to Philly just to get matcha maiko. I can confidently say the matcha latte transported me back to japan - no frills, no sweetener, just straight banging matcha. This is the real stuff and you can taste it.
