I appreciate that the owner tried to track it down the day before I was leaving but they refused to give me any kind of discount from this delay and would have charged me for shipping my laptop back to NC if they'd ever gotten it. It really ticks me off that they didn't say "the mail is really slow and we don't know if we'll get it by the time you have to leave". That information would have let me decide on some other course of action. You don't tell a customer you can do something then expect them to pay full price or incur additional costs because you couldn't.

According to the SONY website it could be a possible failure of the LED backlights. I emailed American Consolidated Electronics to see if they agreed that was what they thought it might be. They emailed me back the next day, and confirmed that that was probably the problem and gave me an estimate of how much it would cost and since they don't make 3D TV's anymore, I thought $285 was reasonable to get it fixed.
