Although a good 20 minute walk to the nearest beach or the famous Dunes, it's just across the street from Yumbo Centrum's huge gay nightlife if you want to check it out. If you want a total gay immersion, stay next door at the uber gay Axel Beach Maspalomas. Don Miguel was fine for us and had a good mix of guests. While the hotel is a bit on the older side, probably built 1970-1980s when the other hotels were built as well. The rooms are very clean. The WiFi is fine, bathrooms remodeled, and air conditioner works well if you want it on. My favorite part was the room balcony. It faced the west (not pool view) so I got a terrace to sun bathe in total privacy during the afternoon when the pool was shadowed. Hotel service was good after the locked safe issue at check-in was resolved. That took about 3 front desk visits. Housekeeping was quick and cordial. I was amazed that the maid was almost always finished while I was at breakfast. The breakfast buffet is huge, with a variety of items to try. No made to order omelets, but they had eggs 4 different ways. Coffee machine lines were a downer, but over the week I learned to time it. Skip the Devine pool bar lunch spot. While service was good, the food was mediocre hotel food and bland. There are plenty of restaurants a few minutes walk. The pool was nice, and there were enough loungers for everyone that wanted one. I even used the loungers in the water. So refreshing! The pool boys were super friendly and helpful. The gym is small but functional. For the value, we'd stay here again.

Came here during the covid situation, all the staff were helpful and the all inclusive food had set…read moretimes instead of 24/7 but the time periods were fairly large, the entertainment and bar was open until 1 am, the mask rules were strict but socially distancing was not as bad, the gym was amazing with great air conditioning to keep us cool, there was a bus every 30 minutes taking us down to the beach or a taxi which is u see 3 euros!!! The place was a nice price and was definitely clean all around the property. Also the staff was friendly for all that I personally had to communicate directly with. The food was all pretty good as well and for breakfast I totally appreciated the espresso machine. A good cup of Joe in the morning makes the world of difference in how the day will go. All-inclusive should be self-explanatory and easy to handle hence the verbiage. I was so at ease also to know there was au natural area to relax and lounge with friends. My gripe here is in how there were different level offerings in the all-inclusive enjoyment. I had no idea at the time of booking or I would have surely looked at the options to include the liquor such as Hennessy. It was a bit more expensive if I tried to do it at check in so I opted not to and then wished I had it. It was also a bit confusing on the pools and the hours of operation. It was explained a bit unclear but then that may have just been a language barrier situation so who knows..? I also wish that it was oceanfront but it is what it is. My friend really enjoyed her birthday and we intend to visit again but maybe try the mother brand Barcelo.

We was allocated a room on the 4th floor by the middle lift but you could not hear any noise but it was useful for getting straight down to the pool in the mornings. The apartments are ok. They are very basic and could do with a make over but it has everything you need to be honest, the only thing we could have done with is air con but if you leave your balcony door open you do get a breeze through the whole apartment. The pool was great and you didn't have to get up at the crack of dawn to get a Sunbed, We had lunch by the pool one day which was nice as well. We met some lovely people at this hotel and everyone who works here seem to love their job, everyone is really friendly and we are booking to come again for next year!
