When I walked in, they had two customers in chairs and three barbers working. As a result, no wait. Rudy was available to take me on and did just that. Friendly, funny, and he listened to what I wanted. Through the funny banter between the three barbers, us customers, Rudy did his work, all along checking in with me on progress. There were 4 barbers, chairs full, and a few people waiting. So, I put our names down and waited. I really don't know how long I waited because I was occupied with my kids. Aaron was friendly and did a nice job with my kids' hair. So, why the 3 stars and hesitation to return? About a week before actually going to the barbershop, I searched high and low for a phone number. I really wanted to find out the prices before walking in. I found a number on google and called, but never heard back. I don't mind paying for good services but I wanted to know beforehand- especially because Fade Kings only accepts cash (as per other yelp reviews). So, no phone number, no prices anywhere on yelp, facebook page, or in the barbershop. Each of my kiddos was 25, so 50 in total- cash only. I usually tip 20% but because of not knowing exactly how much the service was, I had to tip less because I didn't have enough cash on me. Accepting credit cards, having set appointments, and a price list available would easily turn this 3 star review into a 5 star review.

Upon walk in, I immediately noticed how friendly and welcoming the barbers were; I came in with my 3 kids after booking an apt a few days prior. Jeffry did a phenomenal job with my son's hair, accommodated all of his requests, and even inquired about his soccer career. Photo included for reference. If I lived in SoCal I'd be a regular again like I was years ago but now I'm always on the move. One thing I've noticed about Drew as compared to other barbers, is he always cares about the details, the little things. Other barbers want to rush it, and don't do basic stuff that I assumed all barbers did just because I was accustomed to Drew's meticulousness any time I got my haircut from him. I can honestly say Drew is responsible in some way for me dating so many SoCal baddies because he had my haircut looking fresh so I had the confidence to shoot my shot at girls out of my league! Also, Drew is a chill barber, one you actually can chat with. Some barbers I've experienced are either dead silent and not friendly, or they talk wayyy too much, but chatting with Drew was always good vibes. Quality work, cleanliness, cool vibes are the 3 main things I want in a barber and Drew checks all 3 boxes. James is his coowner is also good people. I've never gotten cut by him but I've seen his work and he's legit too. These guys, Drew and James were coming into my family's restaurant back in the day when I was in my early 20's and they always tipped well, were respectful and good vibes so you know they're good people too. We discovered him through his social media and haven't looked back or elsewhere since discovering this wonderful Kingdom. It's right in the downtown Vista neighborhood. We've used his services several times ever since! We can make appointments right through his website links and now he even has an application that you can download. We can even pay ahead of time to make the visits go even smoother if we/you want. Donnell is super respectful and our talented barber! The shop has a cool vibe to it. Saints theme and colors throughout. Cush barbershop chairs too! If you are looking for royalty treatment this might be a place for you too... And again like royalty is how Donnell treats all of his customers! His mentality is "good works deserve to be rewarded" and he says this in the most humblest of ways. The Hubs always raves about the hot towel treatment! And is always happy when he leaves this shop looking and feeling fantastic. My husband showed some pictures of an "Ivy League Cut" with a side part and a cut in. My husband grew out his hair a bit so Sal was able to salvage the mess the previous barber did. He's glad he found a great barber but the downside is we are moving. It is preferred you call and make an appointment especially on weekends. It is CASH ONLY. No ATM on site so you must be prepared. It is costly but you have to then inflation and barbers need to make a living and need to pay for the chair and provide for their family. Be prepare to wait if you are doing a walk-in on Friday/Saturday/Sunday.
