Took my son in for a haircut for the 1st time today based on a recommendation from my nail lady. This is a local family owned business and is well known in San Marcos. Upon walk in, I immediately noticed how friendly and welcoming the barbers were; I came in with my 3 kids after booking an apt a few days prior. Jeffry did a phenomenal job with my son's hair, accommodated all of his requests, and even inquired about his soccer career. Photo included for reference. This shop is clean and professional, while waiting I looked at several other barbers work it was very precise/custom to each client. Pricing is comparable to other shops. Highly recommend. I popped in here for a quick cut on a pre-holiday afternoon. The place looked really busy, but their lady barber was able to take me right away. They were playing Latin hip-hop music, really loud - my chair was right next to the speaker, and I couldn't hear my barber without her yelling in my ear. The rest of the staff were having a great time, and there was a tequila table set up - maybe I missed that it was holiday pre-party? My haircut was fine - I don't ask for much, just a buzz, but she did me a bit better than that. Not sure if I'll be back - I'll certainly check the volume first. read more

So it's open during Covid, which is great. All safety protocols are in place. However, the 2 barbers on the right side of the shop, the last 2 chairs, have mouths like sailors. I would suggest that if you have kids or dislike people using the F-Bomb every single sentence, you find somewhere else. These 2 guys ruin this place. I was sitting with my husband for over 40 min and I have a horrible headache as these 2 guys keep laughing at each other (clients not even involved in conversations) and screaming and generally acting like teenagers on a playground. Word of advice to the owners of this place....get rid of the 2 guys at the back right side of your business. You would have a great barbershop without them. read more

Josman Valdez is a bad barber. Terrible hands on the head (feels like digging on your head), focuses more on tv then on your cut, which makes me believe that he was under the influence while "working". Because no real licensed barber will be scuffing the clippers on your head leaving a couple of cuts on me and making it a very unpleasant haircut. Do not cut your hair with him unless you like pain. His station the middle one on the left side as soon as you walk in. Will not be back there. read more

On a mission to find a barbershop that is closer because my usual barber is in Mira Mesa but is always booked. My son and I decided to give this place a try because of the good reviews. Keep in mind, that I've been getting barber fades and cuts since I was a young teen so from bad military cuts to luxury barbers that serve you beer...o think I qualify to spot out who's good and who's trash. First, Chris cut my hair and did an outstanding job. He carried s good conversation, friendly, and personable. He took his time and even after he applied the pomade, he still made sure everything was perfect marking minor snips. I would definitely come back to see Chris. Second, my son's barber (don't know his name and didn't bother asking...tall white guy with a beard) was trash. I got done with my cut first and their ATM was down so I had to walk across the lot the liquor store to pull out cash. When I come back, my son is out of the chair, no line up, lots of hair on him, and another dude was already in the chair ready to get cut. I can already tell this barber is all about the money and not really into his job because he clearly neglected of what barbers should be automatically doing like paying attention to details, cleaning hair off my son, saying "asshole" several times while conversation with others while my son was in the chair, and at least waiting til I get back to see if I approve. If you the owner of this shop. Think about it...that dude cost you two customers that would of come by at least twice a month. Place reeked like weed when I walked in. I couldn't tell if it was the guy cutting or the shop though. I don't care if someone smokes so I stayed and got a haircut but probably should have left. The guy was super into the movie playing in the tv so it took longer than normal and got a mediocre haircut. I felt uncomfortable and just wanted to leave so I tipped- I always tip barbers unless they seriously screw up, paid and left. Won't be back to this location for sure. read more

The quality of the haircuts here are good but customer service is poor. I came to the rancho Santa Fe location in San Marcos expecting to wait a long time. About 45 minutes has gone by and I'm up next to get my haircut. Two barbers finish up and they start cutting each other's hair while people are still waiting. It was very unprofessional. read more

I came in with my husband and we came in early because we had things to do throughout the day and we got exited to see that my husband was up next, but when the barber was done with his customer he just left outside to be on his phone, but then the next barber was done and he also went on his phone. Not sure why they don't prioritize on their waiting customers. We ended up just leaving. When I arrived to get my son a haircut the music was blaring so loud I couldn't hear anyone and no one said a word to me so I had no idea where to go or what to do (being a first time customer). Once seated with my son, the barber hardly spoke to us and I told him I like his hair long and not too short. What does he do? Pull out the clippers and start shaving his head. (He also had the nerve to ask me if my son "even talks". Yes he talks. He's four. But even if he did you probably wouldn't be able to hear him over the music). While I was sitting on the chair the floor was soaked and covered with hair that hadn't been cleaned up probably for hours. After the butchering of my son's head, we left and I noticed when I got home the top of his head/scalp (that was cut with scissors) was covered in teeny tiny black hairs which I assume were from a previous customer and completely UNCLEANED scissors. I myself had those tiny black hairs on my face from God knows what. All in all, this was a horrible, disgusting experience and I will NEVER be back (but I highly doubt they'd even care). read more

I can't remember who my fiancé said cut his hair at this location but it was the best haircut he's ever had. I had called several shops in the surrounding area and we decided on this one. He needed something more than usual since he had an important interview. Although San Marcos is much higher than my ex ever paid in Anaheim, it was a much better cut. It helps that he is much more handsome than my ex. My fiancé returned a month or so later and regretted not waiting for the gentleman that cut his hair before. There was an empty chair & he thought it would probably be same quality. Although he did say it was s relaxing cut. The guy usually cuts kids hair and he fell asleep in the chair. read more

He always comes home looking so gorgeous but I decided to write a review because today I joined him as we were running errands and I must say I am so impressed by how polite, professional, fast and talented these guys are. We just moved here from Florida and my bf had a hard time finding a barber out there who was consistent, and who's clippers didn't rip his hair out. S/o to (I hope I remembered his name correctly) Alex? He gave me a skin shave this morning around 11ish. I normal cut my own hair but I was lazy today and had to go to work. Simple bald shave, I'm pretty critical about it though and he did a great job no missed spots or anything. The price is definitely reasonable. Compared to places I've been in the past for the same cut. ($30-$40) and the last time I received a hair cut professionally was about 5 years ago. So props to him for being my first paid for cut and doing it well. To anyone that yelps for places to get cleaned up, come here. Their music is on point, maybe a little too loud, idk I like conversation sometimes but that would be my only gripe and that's not even problem to be honest. There were two other gents getting done up and the detailers were very detailed in their technique. To the shop and it's detailers, keep up the good work guys. read more

Took my grandson for a haircut. They are open against regulations, not cutting outside. I didn't know they weren't supposed to be open. The employees were bragging to each other that they are not following guidelines for COVID-19. The hand sanitizer by the door was empty. The hair cut took 1 HOUR for a little boy! I paid $30 for a child's haircut that I couldn't even tell that he actually cut. I asked the barber for a fade on both sides/comb over style with a line. After a brief time my son walks over and I was thoroughly confused. I asked him if my son was done- because honestly I could barely see a difference. He responded yea. I was shocked. I asked him to at least put my son back in the chair to cut some more off the top. I asked him if he even put the line (mind you I thought he didn't even try to style it with gel or anything because he didn't want to use product but it had to be under there because that's what I asked for) and he said no. Confused I said, "is it because he was moving?" because that is literally the only thing I could think of. He responded "yes." This barber literally didn't do what I asked him and didn't even bother to tell me why... long story short, I don't know if it's because I'm a woman/mom and if that's why he didn't care to even pretend what I asked for, but you might be better off with sending your child in with their dad or asking for one of the other gentlemen referenced throughout this yelp feed as they seem to have a more positive reputation. I will say- the other men there getting their hair cut had really nice styles/designs so it could have been this particular uninterested barber. read more
