Might be a thief. ??? Aaron from Apex cycle kept my bike in the Davis location 2C for over a year (I did ask him to sell it and got few to no updates). My white ebike with batteries and chargers and extra wheel replacements and cleaning supply box. 105 E St Suite 2C Davis CA 95616 I was given a small slip of paper with a ticket number on it AS the receipt to "prove" I'd given it to him. As the mobile bike road repair man who owns his own business I didn't mind too much. But a year is a long time, so I asked for the bike back. He said "sorry it was JUST stolen". But ...Aaron didn't inform me until I ASKED. When I asked for some sort of reimbursement, Aaron said a potential customer had tested the bike...during the test ride- this unknown customer had gone in for a bubble tea. The bike was stolen during that stop, but the customer promised to pay $450 (Aaron told me the $450 had been received...) As the go-between I asked him to pay me this at least for my very expensive bike. He didn't answer. I asked for $400. He didn't answer. I waited and asked again... he didn't answer. I called the shop... I'm dissatisfied and disappointed with the service if it means that's the store. If not, then perhaps someone used your identity as a mobile repairman??? Aaron is amazing - his knowledge of bikes and adult trikes seems to know no bounds! He's friendly and willing to share his knowledge with his customers. He makes recommendations, but is never pushy and is responsive to customer's financial limitations. I had him tune up and repair a 7-speed beach cruiser and a 7-speed adult trike, and he did a great job on both! Also, he makes house calls - only $25 extra. I've been going to Aaron for my biking needs for the last 8 years or so. I originally went when it was at the old larger location, steered there by a groupon deal (back when groupon was a big thing) to get my dad's old '89 Peugeot road bike tuned up for my first triathlon. I was very new to biking and Aaron had a lot of good advice and really worked with my budget to get the old bike. At the time, Aaron was also the bike mechanic for the UCD cycling team. Since then, Aaron has scaled back the business to accommodate his various other pursuits, but he is still the same expert and professional. He is a great communicator and will keep you updated every step of the way and makes sure he delivers on time. In 2020, I went back when my carbon frame cracked and we worked together to rebuild it to better suit my needs. I ended up with a beautiful steel Cinelli frame after a lot of discussion with Aaron about the merits of various frame materials and what I wanted out of my bike. Aaron again worked within my budget and built a bike I couldn't be happier with. Aaron just tuned my bike up last week and its riding like a dream. Amazing. I'm on crutches and brought my knee cart in to get fixed so I was annoyed at first to have to go to the second floor. After they fixed my wheel in 15 minutes, made sure my air pressure was right in the other tires and only charged me $30... I have to say I was dead wrong. This guy knows his stuff and there's a reason they're top rated bike shops in a bike heavy town like Davis. This place is amazing! I have finally found my go-to bike shop. I first came in for a bike tune up and Aren was super thorough in discussing the issues he found (and reasonable in his pricing!). I Ultimately, I brought in my bike to upgrade my drivetrain, and it's like a brand new bike now! (Faster, easier shifting etc). I also had a custom hybrid carbon fiber bike made for my mother, and she LOVES it. It's not something she could have found elsewhere because of all the customizations. Tbh probably going to be the best bike store and service you're going to get in Davis. Other stores im downtown are mostly upselling to unknowing newby bike riders, but these guys know their stuff from a chunky mountain bike to high performance road bikes and want to make sure you leave well informed and happy!
