I thought I wrote a review about this place before but it looks like I didnt. Jim is the owner of this shop and he's very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. My husband comes here whenever his bike needs to be fixed. He literally trusts Jim with his life because as I'm sure you know, riding a bike with tire or brake issues could be deadly! Looks like it's been 2+ years since having been to this shop, but I came back today because for whatever reason I'd had a couple of flats again. Perhaps it's just good salesmanship but the sole proprietor explained to me that we needed rain and because of this, thorns were a bit more prevalent and that's what was causing my flats. I can change a tube out no problem. What he showed me was pretty crazy. I'd purchased a couple tubes filled with that "slime" stuff. Goo. I was a goo man. Turns out with the number of punctures I'd had in the tube, goo was all over the place especially after filling it up with air. Pretty much restored the confidence in my ability to repair a simple flat on a bike. This was bigger than that. I say perhaps good salesmanship because I didn't feel like as much of a failure walking out the door. Hope it takes another two years for me to get a flat tire that I think I can't fix. read more

I had an unfortunate incident with my bike and needed it checked out to be sure it was still safe to ride. Service was quick and was charged just for the things that needed to be replaced. Its hard to find a store where giving good advice is valued above making a sale. Jim is extremely knowledgeable and tries to sell you only want you want or need. I went in there looking for a good road bike and Jim informed me that he doesn't carry them because there isn't a big demand for those in Dixon. Only later did he tell me the closest thing to a road bike he carries are gravel bikes. I asked a few questions and it turned out maybe a gravel type bike was actually what I was looking for. He let me test ride the one bike he had in my size. No pressure to buy, and Jim agreed it would be a good idea to think on it for a few days. I went back the next day and bought it. My bike fell over one too many times & broke the derailleur. I watched a couple of YouTube videos & decided it was beyond my skill set, especially since the chain has to come off & all that. I searched around & Fisk's was the only nearby bicycle shop I could find. I called & he was friendly, no appointment necessary, just bring the bike in. I brought it in & we discussed the repair. He had it done in a week & it cost $150. The price was higher than I expected, but I was glad to have my bike back in working order & it was worth not having to take it all apart myself. read more

After being turned away from a bicycle shop in Vacaville, I was referred to Fisks Bicycle shop in Dixon by an aquintance was pleasantly surprised. I took 2 old bikes in to be tuned up and instead of telling me they're not worth tuning, he gladly took the task on and only charged me for what was needed and nothing I didn't. The owner was very pleasant and honest and had them done in less than a week (compared to 3weeks in Vacaville). I would refer anyone to this shop! read more

We have been going to Fisk Cyclery for close to 20 years. We have bought at least (3) bikes, but we visit Mr. Fisk (Jim) often for a variety of repairs. Jim is always kind and polite. He insist we call him Jim, so we try to oblige. He has changed I don't know how many tires, repaired wheels, changed and adjusted brakes, installed new brakes, etc... My 15 year old talks about how cool it would be to be a business man and operate the way Jim does. We will continue to support Mr. Fisk for years to come. read more

We love this shop! Great friendly service and no BS up pricing or surprise unnecessary "repairs". If anything, I sometimes feel like Mr.Fisk should/could have charged more. I shopped all over Davis and the surrounding area before I founds Fisk's. I knew I was going to buy and get service work done here within 5 minutes of talking with this guy--even before I knew which bike I wanted for certain. After you talk to so many salespeople, you just know when someone is more interested in making sure you get what you want and need longterm than they are about just making a quick sale. We now have three bikes and go here for all our service and parts needs. Repair work is almost always completed same day. The owner was a little on the rude side and went on to tell a tale of why he had no inventory and would not have any for a while. He went on to explain all the problems with shipping containers. I used to teach design class using shipping containers as there is such an over abundance of them in receding ports. Just a little touch unknowledgeable information for me. As soon a s walked in I was greeted with a friendly good afternoon. The owner was extremely knowledgeable and promised to have bike fixed in under 1 hour and he delivered on that promise. The price I paid to have my bike fixed was half of what I expected. The owner told me about his used bicycles discounted rates for underprivileged kids, where he repairs used bikes and gives them away to underprivileged kids. I wish I found out about this bike shop years ago.. First timer coming up from Fairfield. I can't say enough good things about this shop and Mr. Fisk. Dealt with local bike shops that are very rude when just asking questions about repairs and estimates. Seems like my local shops do not want any of business..their loss. I came to get a wheel set trued and the turnaround time was ridiculously fast. Mr. Fisk is a straight honest genuine guy which you don't see much nowadays unfortunately. Not sure what happened, but this place has REALLY gone downhill. Had been a few times over the years, never great, but always satisfactory. Over the last 9 months I have taken him two bikes to be serviced and my experience was NOT good. Will not go back, which is a shame because I try to support local businesses as much as possible (the reason I went back after getting screwed six months ago!) 1. Charged me more than Ken's Bike and Ski in Davis quoted 2. One "new" tire he installed would not hold air (he blamed me) 3. One tire did hold air, but was out of balance and rubbed as I rode it (he blamed me) 4. New brake cable consistently fell out causing brake not to work (he blamed the bike) Owner rude and unwilling to standby work or offer any solutions. Ended up paying to have fixed AGAIN at Ken's in Davis, no issues after that. Will just go there next time. read more

We came in to ask about a specific (trendy) bike for our son. He let us know he didn't carry them, could order it, but it would be less expensive if we ordered online.
