If I were standing on a mountain top I couldn't shout loud enough the praise that Apex Fire Protection deserves. From the president of the company to his lead engineer to his superintendent and the actual crew who performed the physical labor, I received the kind of old fashioned customer service that, sadly, does not exist any more. I am a small business owner in Orange County, CA and here's my story:
My business opened a year before the pandemic. We gutted the space and did a complete buildout. However, my GC kept insisting that the existing sprinkler system was sufficient - and that if it wasn't, the city we are located in would let us know during the rough inspections. Nobody mentioned anything and we were granted approval when the construction was complete. Three years later, during a five-year inspection of the sprinkler system for all tenants in our business complex, we were told that our existing system was not sufficient. We were also told that both our GC and the city inspectors dropped the ball. We had a limited time to get it up-to-date.
At my request, Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) came out and explained that we needed not just a few, but many more sprinklers. Our initial buildout included a drywall drop ceiling. We are a cat hotel so have cats in our facility 24/7 364 so I was extremely concerned about the entire process. Cats are very noise sensitive and do not like being moved around. Serenity is of utmost importance.
The sprinkler vendor that the landlord contracted with who initially told us we were not in compliance was unprofessional, inaccurate, and worse, paid no attention or concern to our needs as a small business. I kicked them out and went on a mission to find a sprinkler contractor that would understand our business needs. After getting numerous quotes that were not only outrageous but totally inaccurate in terms of how many sprinkler heads we would need, I was referred to Apex.
It is so rare these days to find a contractor that is true to their word and provides stellar work. On time. Professional. And very reasonably priced. Apex took a very challenging situation - having to basically top toe through a dry wall ceiling without busting through or being noisy, and made it happen.
