I was scared to move in after reading reviews, but they seem to mostly be older reviews and about deposits not being refunded. It was made extremely clear to me that if my application was not approved, the fee would NOT be refunded. In any event, I've been here about three months now and find it is a nice place to live. The apartment I'm in is awesome with great appliances and the view is absolutely amazing. I find it peaceful, and I've been very happy here. the parking issues that others were complaining about seem to be mostly resolved, or getting there anyway. A whole new security system is being implemented in the lots now. the property manager, Victoria, seems to be very proactive about addressing the parking complaints. As for the trash, the building seems very clean to me. Yes, residents are too lazy to bring their recycling downstairs to the huge dumpsters in the parking lot, so they leave it in the trash rooms. I don't see that this is the fault of the building though. The smoke alarms have gone off maybe three times since I've been here, and never in the middle of the night. Again, this is the fault of the residents. If they burn food, they open the front door and let the smoke into the hallway and trigger the building fire alarms, rather than just opening their own windows or patio doors to the outside. Ariana, Yasmin, and the rest of the staff in the leasing office are friendly and helpful, and security has been upgraded to 24-hours so I don't feel unsafe here. read more

The moving process can be stressful. Applications, credit checks, income verifications, scheduling furniture deliveries, etc. However, my experience at the Apex dealing with management and the leasing team has been the complete opposite. Specifically, it has been an absolute pleasure dealing with Arianna from the leasing consultant team. She walked me through the process step by step, and is always fast to respond to any question or concern. Her follow up has been excellent and her friendly disposition and beautiful smile will make you feel comfortable right away. She has made this entire process so easy that I would recommend to anyone looking into the Apex that they ask for her by name. read more

I warn you to not walk, but run away from viewing this building. The views are beautiful however management is awful. The building remains dirty, piles of garbage everywhere. The gym is filthy day in and out. Machines never work. The property manager is a tyrant, beyond condescending and rude. Screaming and cursing at tenants for her refusal to take responsibility for the horrid conditions in the building. (Leslie) is the name of the property manager. No rules - the garage that tenants pay for is an open policy - non tenants sneak in and park in our garage with no repercussions. Homeless people sleeping in the staircase. One of the worst properties I've ever lived in! I should have believed the Google reviews when I moved in. The Pool Is barely open. The sky lounge tenants pay for closes at 7pm. Like we are children and have a time limit. Most of us don't get home till late and never use it. Again, horrible conditions I don't recommend. You've been warned. I signed a lease and made a deposit with Apex in October for an apartment in early January. I received a call from Leslie Frank (property manager) on Nov 22nd informing me the tenant moved early so they're canceling my lease unless I could move in that weekend? Ok, now I have to find another apartment within a month. Even worse, I'm still waiting for my refund. I've called several times and was told it's coming from LA, and two weeks ago, I was told the check was issued on December 2nd, still haven't seen my refund. I'm now preparing to take legal action! Avoid this place, I feel lucky that I dodged the bullet, if they're this shady prior to moving in, I can only imagine how it is living there! I have to say management is horrible they tell you the rent is one price and they charge you a different price they have hidden fees. Lets say your rent 2700 you end up paying 2900. It is horrible then when you ask management for an itemize paperwork for the rent, you email them or call them they never pick up the phone and never email you back they just keep charging you extra fees extra fees. In the garbage house up for days.And the flys are discussing every where. The whole floor i lived on smells like garbage. They never mop up the floors for weeks. TL:DR Yes, Apex is in a gorgeous location. However, Apex is a nightmare. There are tons of other apartment buildings right along the water that are better choices. DO NOT RENT HERE. I had issues from move-in day to move-out day. Building has terrible management. It's advertised as a "luxury building" which you're definitely paying for, however it is the furthest thing from it. Rent increases randomly. Their billing system makes no sense and you will not know what you're paying for. It took weeks for maintenance requests. The building is disgusting and dirty. There is essentially no security. I am having trouble getting my full security deposit back. In NY state, the security deposit must be returned within 14 days. Mine was not. They are also supposed to give you an itemized list of any deductions from the deposit. They literally gave me a sheet of paper with random charges on it, with no date ranges, and no explanation to figure out what it means. I've spoken with multiple former tenants who had the same issue. FULL REVIEW: I moved out of Apex about a month ago after having lived there for 3 years. I probably should have left sooner but I was locked in the geographic area, and it's a pain to move. The day I moved in (which they knew the day and time) they had just finished cleaning the apartment. They hadn't cleaned the carpets and they told me they were going to do that next. I had my movers downstairs and so I couldn't wait for them to do it. They had ample notice to get it done but the management was so terrible that they couldn't get it together. Much of the management has turned over, however it is no better. The management company changed their name a few months ago to Two Coast Living, but it's the same terrible company. Of course my move out day was also terrible. Again, they knew exactly when I was moving out. When my moving company arrived, I went to ask them to open the back door which has the ramp and a designated moving elevator. Someone had taken home the keys the night before, and they could not get in touch with him. As a result, my movers had to bring all of my stuff down the main elevator and through the lobby. I held the elevator door so they could load everything and also hold open all of the doors in the lobby. We got it done, but this is just another example of their incompetence. Having maintenance done was a nightmare. It would routinely take weeks after I put in simple requests such as changing a lightbulb (the ceilings are very high so you need a ladder). It would only be done after I persistently went to the office and complained. A few weeks after I moved in, my heat malfunctioned and started blasting hot air. It was in the evening and the person at the desk said they couldn't get maintenance on the phone. I had to leave my apartment with my animals. When I got back the next day, the thermostat read 99 degrees and every candle in my apartment had melted. There was another incident where the battery on my door died and I had to wait almost 12 hours to get back into my apartment. The inside of the building is not well maintained. The trash rooms are probably the worst. People just leave their bags instead of throwing them down the chute. As a result the room stinks, everythings sticky, and management coats everything with a layer of powder (some kind of pest repellent maybe). The hallways are dirty and poorly mopped maybe once a week. People will just spill things all over the floors and they won't be mopped for days. The garbage piles up in the parking garage. Security is terrible. Nobody is ever at the front desk. People follow you into the garage all the time. They don't want to pay for parking so they piggyback through the gate. The parking tags are useless because they don't check who is supposed to be there. The doors are left propped open for anyone to walk in. The police probably come once a week. Management is awful. They are completely understaffed. The fire alarm goes off way too often. The extra "game room" is always closed. I am having trouble getting my full security deposit back. Before we made the decision to move here, I saw all of the previous reviews and said "well there's always going to be negative reviews for any building, company, restaurant, etc..but boy did I get tricked by the beautiful view and the "immaculate" lobby. Trust the reviews, this place isn't worth it. For starters, they will discretely charge you for things that are probably not spoken about on your initial tour (like paying for FOB keys, which by the way no other luxury building around charges for these) You'll get a monthly apex postcard with fees for the "upkeep" of the property. And just wait until you move out, that's when they get you as well. The fire alarm goes off NON STOP. If you have kids or animals, good luck. This was a HUGE problem. If you do decide to check this place out, make sure to look at the hallway walls and the garbage room. I can't even begin to tell you how many times the walls had dog pee (and dog poop) on the floors. The garbage room is absolutely disgusting. I was told by Leslie (property manager) that a "private company" was going to come clean the halls. 3 months later, that still didn't happened. The office staff is not helpful. If you call, the minions will tell you they have to check with Leslie or ask Leslie, and Leslie is always "not there". Why have other people work there if they can't even answer simple questions without Leslie. If you send emails, most likely you will not get a response. I always had to email numerous times. Make sure you have proof and copies of any documents you submit (like the rental insurance, etc) because they will try to play you. The office staff will send out emails threatening "violation of lease" for things like people not picking up dog poop outside or parking in the garage without a decal, but the office will never follow through. Speaking of parking, to be clear, You'll pay for parking but so many people will park in the garage without a decal and get away with it. Having lived here for over 2 years, I must say this building is poorly managed. Issues to be aware of if considering: The garage door is frequently broken wide open with no repairs or communication from management from people breaking in to park for free (a common event). The halls are stained with animal excrement and many people allow their animals to relieve themselves in the stairwells. Security is non-existent and doors are frequently unlocked (including doors permitting access to residences). The fire alarms are set up so that if anyone's alarm goes off in their home, every apartment's individual fire alarm goes off at max volume. This is a common occurrence. Packages get stolen from the lobby not infrequently (I had 3 go missing between 2019-2020). We had no relationship with the management office--- emails and phone calls go completely unanswered. If you need anything done, you'll need to go to the office in person during work hours or you'll never hear back. I don't like to be relentlessly negative, but I really wish I'd known the above prior to signing my lease. There have been multiple changes in management so I stayed hoping the experience would change (because I do think the location and facility have real promise), but it has been consistently disappointing and I recently moved out. The sales pitch is very upbeat but that's really about the only positive about the rental experience. By the way, consider the security deposit a donation to Apex. They will likely use it for routine cleaning/painting after you move out (as they did for me despite an in-person walk-through where I was told the apartment looked "great"). read more

I left the property in September 2020 - the building is a great shame. To defend the new ownership, the design of the building failed to incorporate garbage handling for ground floor residents. Also the grey color scheme and dim lighting can lead to a dingy look. On the other hand the management of the building has been an abject disaster driven by ownership on the west coast who are clearly driven by the numbers alone - the lack of expenditure on maintenance was rapidly destroying the value of the building to residents. Also note, the road going under the railway bridge is often closed off at holidays and for special events - this means residents with cars are trapped for 24 hours. Joy oh joy read more

AVOID ! I wish I would've listened to the reviews sooner. We're honestly so happy we got approved elsewhere! Not only did they mess up our application, there was no way to contact corporate and correct it ( it's pretty much non existent ) Went for a tour and was told by a RESIDENCE that there's always a random charge on their rent which as I read further into these reviews, she wasn't the only one. We toured this location around March , SUPER QUICK , NO INFO AND NO SELLING POINTS. Anyways, we still paid the deposit despite these negatives. It's JUNE and we're still waiting on that back. It's been two months! Management seems all over the place, in order for us to know what was the update on the application I had to contact them. Otherwise , we wouldn't have known what was going on. I'm not sure if the receptionist ever passed the messages down to Leslie ( management ) because it took us two weeks for a call back. When you're paying for a deposit that expensive on an application, we expect constant contact .. just made no sense. Every time we call we always get brushed off and left waiting for a call back. Save yourself the time, money and apply else where! EDIT/UPDATE I am adding a positive note about living here. The view and access to quick transportation downtown or upstate are remarkable and the key attractions to this location. I have only had positive interactions with the staff on site including the leasing office and maintenance. After a recent security incident, the property manager was so quick to act and offered speedy support and showed genuine concern. There was interest in expanding security to overnight and she shared an update that the cleaning team changed to address historical issues. read more

AVOID THESE SCAM ARTISTS! Applied for an apartment here at the top of January. They had a mandatory $500 security deposit of which I happily paid. 24 hours later, I received word from them saying I had been approved for a studio unit - then a day later received a call saying I was denied. On top of that, they charged an additional $23 on my card. For what? I still don't know. Leasing Agent provided no additional information and even had the audacity to chuckle whilst I tried to obtain more information in hopes that the decision could be appealed. A month later and I still don't have my security deposit back. I called their holding company (JRK Holdings in Los Angeles) and their rep just directs my call to an extension that no one seems to work at. Impossible to understand the unfair practices of APEX management... Before we moved in, we were promised that we can park a small motorcycle in the same spot as our car. We moved in and bought a motorcycle. Then APEX told us that now we have to pay same $150 per month as for our car, doesn't matter that bike just stands right behind the car and takes almost no space. Why do we need to pay for motorcycle parking when it's parked in the same sport as our car? Motorcycle parking in most normal modern buildings is free. This was 1st. Then APEX did next: 1. Cut down all of the beautiful trees along the waterfront, that where providing us with pretty green, and now it's just barren gray of cement, asphalt, and gray waters of Hudson. Does APEX hate trees? 2. Screwed up the payment system, and we and many other families got eviction notices. 3. Removed security from the building, now most of the doors in the parking are simply open - anyone can just walk in the building and it's been like this for months. Car's are getting broken in. 4. Domino Sugar factory right next to the building providing all of us once in the while with a HUGE thick cloud of diesel exhaust. 5. Many small ugly things started happening that make life here is a two-sided sword. Recommendation for others - If I would move in this place - I would think twice, and get everything to the point on paper. read more

the complex was amazing initially when it was first opened under a different property management company. Since the current company has taken over the building has fallen to shit, it's dirty unkempt garbage is everywhere things are broken and never fixed. I recently moved out and The company will not give me back my security deposit. they're actually trying to collect money from me for an apartment returned in excellent condition. When you bring a complaint to the management, they are not responsive at all -- but if you do happen to hear back from them, they lead with their attitudes. This was one of the worst and most frustrating places to live especially for the amount of rent being charged. I can't stress this enough, DO NOT MOVE TO APEX Hudson Riverfront. This is an incredibly DANGEROUS area of Yonkers and security is non-existent. One of the garage doors has been broken and open for over 2 months, allowing anybody to just stroll off of the streets into the premises. The grounds are disgusting, with garbage spilling out all over the designated disposal areas as well as the property itself. The walls are paper thin so noise radiates throughout each unit, and management refuses to answer emails to address the issues. Just the other day, my apartment was entered and ROBBED right before Christmas with my girlfriend still asleep inside. Thank god nobody was hurt, but with no security and multiple areas for non-residents to enter, I can firmly say that I don't feel safe in my own home. Additionally, I have been over-charged by $450/month per my signed lease agreement rate as a result of management not updating their payment portal. I Have reached out to management to have this fixed multiple times over the past 2 months, and instead of the issue being solved, myself as well as multiple residents have received eviction notices on our doors (check out Yonkers Waterfront Community on Facebook to see testimonies of other residents who have faced this same problem among other issues). To summarize, it is an absolute shame that a building as nice as this one with its proximity to NYC is run so poorly, but please do not make the mistake I have by living here. I have lived at Apex Hudson since July 2020, and still currently live here at the time of this review (July 2024). If I were in a position to leave this place earlier, I would have. Every single bad thing you have read about in other reviews for this apartment is absolutely true. I do not feel safe living here, there is no security, the building is unkept, filthy, and probably violating some type of hygiene laws, management sucks, and the list can go on. Please, please, do not move here. And for the most part, management will do whatever in their power to make you believe that living here is amazing when you are a prospective tenant. The application process will be relatively smooth and everything you hear about the building and see on the tour will be roses and butterflies while they are attempting to get you to sign that lease. Once you become a tenant, however, you are discarded by management. I can go on and on with all of the legitimate problems with this building but I did want to highlight one particular issue that has affected multiple residents including myself which still remains unaddressed to this day despite numerous maintenance requests and emails to management. There are cleanliness issues throughout the entire building, on every floor, however, they especially did not maintain the grills on the second floor courtyard areas. At some point, after what felt like forever, someone finally decided to do some type of haphazard "clean" of the grills, which were infested with various insects, including mainly centipedes. The centipedes then needed a new place to go, and so they proceeded to go into the hallways and eventually make their way into units, including my own. They are all over the floor within my unit, then one Saturday morning I found one crawling up my wall, inside of my unit. One morning as I was walking through my kitchen I stepped on one with my BARE FEET. I have sent numerous maintenance requests about this issue, as well as emails directly to management, but the issue still persists. The amount of centipedes aren't one here, one there. I have had to kill at least 2 centipedes inside of my apartment every.single.day. and within the hallways in the apartment there's approximately 15-20 crawling around at a time all along the floor. Management has not reached out in any way to attempt to resolve this crisis nor have they issued any type of communication as to how they are going to address it. This infestation makes it extremely uncomfortable to relax in my own home, and it is truly disgusting to constantly see centipedes in the hallways and crawling up the walls. Management has done absolutely nothing but send people to clean the dead centipedes from the main hallways but not actually address the root issue. Therefore, the centipedes continue to come back week after week. I would imagine they're only having the dead centipedes cleaned in the hallways so they can hide this issue from prospective tenants. I was initially drawn to this apartment due to the low rental price (even though I was hit with all these hidden fees AFTER I signed the lease) but it is absolutely worth it to pay a little more to live somewhere else and actually have some peace of mind, and feel safe. The management here is so unhelpful it's ridiculous. My apartment has had constant issues with the thermostat. I constantly put in work orders & it's always an issue. My unit was 58 degrees one night & the heat wouldn't come on. I had to leave the unit & sleep at a friend's house that night. Now my cooling isn't working. This place does not even deserve 1 star. I have seen and met with different realtors, brokers and Rental or Property managers in major cities in the U.S. and never have I ever experienced the lack of hospitality from a property. Due to the pandemic, It was great that this property was still showing listings in person. I have worked in sales and hospitality and as a realtor or even Property Manager, you should be skilled or be taught how to be hospitable and sell the correct way to potential clients. If you are having an off day, STAY HOME. Don't like your job? LEAVE! We came in and waited in the lobby, some random lady approached us and didn't even introduce her name, she just gave us an info sheet and rushed us to see the unit. No eye contact, no information about the property or questions for us. Normally I would come prepared with questions but because she was not mentally there, it was hard to even engage with the person showing us the unit. We saw a one-bedroom and it was a nice place. The place was great and clean but she just literally opened the door and did NOT walk us through the property to "sell" us the highlights of the apartment...which is HER JOB. I felt like I was being kicked out. It was more of like here is the unit, you have 5 seconds, now get the fuck out. I felt rushed and I didn't even know much about the unit. She didn't walk us through the process of the application or ask us what we were looking for so she can show us units. We asked to see a studio... She said it's not worth to see! As we saw the studio, it was almost the same size as the 1 bedroom we saw just a different layout and we felt even rushed with that. She gave attitude to other people in the lobby who approached her almost like "what the fuck you want" type of vibe? The property is wonderful, but that service makes you wonder how you would be treated as a resident. Lady, change careers or try mediation. Jesus help you. read more
