It's a difficult time with COVID, having to do more communication on the phone. I called stating that I needed to have a key for a 2012 Ford Transit connect duplicated, stating it was a 3-button remote key and I had two blanks. They said that cutting was difficult and I would have to first buy one of their keys for $125 and then pay $40 per key for cutting my keys. Nothing was mentioned about an extra $75 to program the keys at that time and I expected "duplicating" to mean an exact copy to my original, a programed 3-button key. When I got the key they made, it was not a 3-button remote key, just a plain key and I was surprised about the extra charge of $75 to program the two keys. That process I observed, took minutes and the guy was following on-line instructions I found later which had I thought I needed to, would easily have done myself and saved the $75. Were they purposefully deceitful? It seemed that way. I ended up paying $280 plus $20.30 for the job. That was $75 plus tax more than expected due to their failure to be clear about what "duplicated" meant. read more

A big thumbs up for Shawn Austill. I had an aftermarket car key, that I had bought elsewhere. Some of other locksmiths in the area told me that they would not cut the key, but would not tell me why, leaving me very frustrated. Shawn took the time to explain that some aftermarket keys could damage their equipment. Shawn said if I came to the store, he could check the key, and see if it was compatible. Poor customer service. They changed my locks when I move into my new home. In a short period of time my key wouldn't even fit into one of the locks. They told me I would have to pay for them to come fix it even if it's there fault. I wouldn't suggest using them. read more

My 2 year old son and I were locked out of the house for hours waiting on a locksmith. Mind you the heat is setting in. His diaper was dirty and he was sweating from the heat and I had nothing to offer. Frustrated, I started to call other services. I call Apex Lock and Key where I spoke to a young man who went over the terms of service. Mind you I was Locked out-With a Screaming 2 year old(worried about to much heat exposure at this point)I said look just get here soon please I NEED HELP! To me this is a CHILD LOCK OUT EMERGENCY! The other lock smith showed up and I called Apex Lock back to let them know I was in the house and he said, too bad it is still FULL PRICE. He said you agreed, I don't recall agreeing to that as I was in distress and at this point a panic about my child ( who was is screaming to get in the house to find comfort) Who knows if I did agree, but I was in distress and my husband is away on Military duty and no family close by that could assist. The other lock smith, that was late, got me into the home, reduced his fees because he could see what a JERK this company was being. I agreed to pay the person (Apex Lock) for their time but not the entire cost as they did nothing! I was threatened with the police if I did not pay the full amount. I had to call my husband who was able to speak to me (He was in the middle of a mission for his NG AT duty) calm me down and said just pay the a$$$ hole. I felt threated and trapped. When I spoke to the owner his response was "It's just business and that is it" This company puts $$$ over customers. They did not care that it was a CHILD LOCK OUT EMERGENCY. I did not care who got me in our home as long as my son could cool down and get a drink of water. But to not even consider reducing (Oh I forgot he gave me a military discount...geee thanks a whole $5) the rates based on the circumstances is just heart breaking and no way to conduct business. The most heartless company I have ever done business with. He even said get your husband on the phone and I won't call the police! I mean who does that! He is on duty you a$$$ hole!!! I could do nothing but cry and feel helpless and pay 2 different companies when only one did the work. I wish my husband was home...My Military Families DO NOT USE THEM! They do not support the families of Soldiers IN ANY DIVISION . I was not looking for anything free just reasonable due to the situation and mommy panic with a child!
