For months, I was dealing with a zone that was suffering from voltage spikes and producing false alarms left and right. I called my monitoring company to do repairs. First, they sent someone out to replace a contact (even though that was clearly not the issue) and billed me for hours of troubleshooting, then I was stuck calling back in countless times trying to reach the "right" person to resolve my issue - all while having 2 to 3 false alarms per day! Finally, I got fed up and called Catskill Security Systems. I called them and - boom - got a service appointment the very next day. Joe came out and diagnosed my rather complex issue with ease. After an hour or so, my system was back online and not a false alarm since. Thank you Joe!! I can't emphasize enough just how much more knowledgeable and professional this team is compared to other security companies in the area. I have a background in electronics and software engineering, so it's hard to bullshit someone like me when it comes to fixing low voltage circuits. I was a customer of Marshall Alarm for over 15 years. This company was engaged for alarm…read moremonitoring for an annual fee. I found a reputable alarm company to monitor the system for far less money per month. I changed alarm companies and I either needed the code that Marshall alarm entered into the system when I engaged them 15 years ago or I needed them to restore the system back to the factory settings as it was prior to using their service. I was told that neither could be accomplished remotely due to the age of the equipment and a service call to my home would be required at the cost of $200. Mr. Marshall finally reduced that cost to $139. I was also told that the new company would have the same problem trying to remotely program the system and the new company would not be able to monitor my system. I paid Marshall Alarm $139 for a 5 minute service call. The technician punched in a few numbers on the key paid and left. The new company out of California had no trouble remotely programming the system from their office. My old alarm system is working as well as it did when Marshall Alarm was the monitoring company. It is disconcerting that I would be charged a large fee in order to change alarm monitoring companies. Buyer beware, alarm companies keep raising their monitoring prices and when you shop and find a much lower price for the same service, they charge huge fees to get your own equipment back to operating mode.
