He did fix my heating issue today, but he charged me $278 for a $59 part and then charged me $300 in labor (2.5 hours for the install). He actually left my house during the job to meet with someone else and never gave me a credit for the time he wasn't working here. Because I was in quarantine and trying to keep my distance, I unfortunately gave him the check before reviewing the invoice. I called him at the end of the day to inquire about the charges. Instead of having a courteous conversation, he very rudely told me he did not want to work for me again. He claimed that he has given me "free" work in the past (which I am sure he never has - the invoices have always been on the high side) and therefore I should not be calling him about the extra time he charged me today. When I asked about the overpriced part, he claimed to have bought it 5 years ago and he has to charge me for holding onto it all these years! What rot! If he really did give me an old part, he should have offered it at a discount instead of over 4 times the current price. I see this as nothing more than a dishonest contractor trying to take advantage of a nice woman. He should be ashamed of himself!

I had questions about rebates for heat pumps and he had answers about rebates, rough costs and advantages of the new heat pumps. He reiterated that we didn't need to change out our current equipment but if we feel it's important for environmental reasons there are good options. We'll definitely be using them going forward, and have a fall furnace checkup scheduled.

Needless to say, the heater was not rusted he showed me the unit was very dirty, the fan motor and wheel were clogged with dirt and there were two dead birds in the chimney.
