Rademacher Plumbing and Heating - Jack, your friendly and reliable plumber

I hired this Plumber for a boiler installation. What should have been a straightforward job turned…read moreinto a weeklong freakshow. The first indication that this Plumber have an anger problem came when I asked if the vent pipe was going to be replaced along with the new boiler. "You need to learn to relax!" was the angry response. The day after the installation, the new boiler was leaking oil. Since it was Thanksgiving day and the Plumber has told me that he was going out of town, it was no use calling him. Luckily my neighbor was kind enough to come over and fix the leak. Unfortunately this resulted in the copper tubing coming from the oil tank being kinked. However, this was better than having oil leaking out on the floor all weekend. After the weekend, I reported this to the Plumber. He blew up in anger over the kinked tubing, telling me that I should have fixed the leak properly.(!) He proceeded to patting himself on the back for being so "nice" as to fix the tubing. He then did some more work to finish the installation. When he was done, the boiler started going haywire, firing up over and over, increasing the temperature way more than the thermostat setting. I turned off the thermostat, but the boiler kept going. When I pointed this out, he acted as if this was normal, saying anything from "it is just making hot water" to blaming the weather.(!) Finally I had to turn the boiler off to avoid overheating the house. The next day he finally admitted that there was something wrong. He tried to fix the problem for hours, finally going out to "get some ideas". He came back later, did some work, and the problem seemed to be fixed. The inspection failed on several points. The Plumber acted shocked, saying that the inspection "threw him for a loop", obviously unaware of what the requirements are. He came back the next day to fix some of the problems. After he was done, I had no hot water in the shower. He came back the next day, and after doing some work reported that there now was hot water. I checked, but the water was only lukewarm. When I pointed this out, he had another angry outburst; "Why are you being so nasty to me?" He proceeded to explain why the water would not get any hotter. I had to insist over and over again that the problem had to be fixed, and after much angry ranting he finally fixed it, then said angrily "Is this hot enough for you"? After fixing all the problems, it finally passed inspection. I renovate houses for a living and I have hired countless contractors over the years. This was hands down the worst experience that I have ever had with a contractor. His astounding ineptitude as a Plumber is surpassed only by his anger problem. I am writing this review hoping that other people will not make the same mistake I did when I hired this person.

NO STARS! Because our water smelled we did not drink it, and after cleaning our boiler coil twice,…read moreMr. Grub said that we needed a water softener. Mr. Grub installed a water softener, and removed a sediment filter that was there. Our water still smelled, and a few days later rust started coming out of our faucet with the water. We had visible small flakes of rust in our water. When I called him he sent two of his employees out who installed the same type of sediment filter he had removed and charged me $400.00 for it. (They did not reinstall my filter, which was left on a shelf right there.) This did not seem to help, so I called him back. He told me to wait a few weeks for the rust to clear, and to add more Iron Out to the brine tank. After two more weeks things still seemed to be getting worse and he finally came back out himself. He said that his employees had installed the filter backwards, so it was not filtering the water at all. He installed it properly and told us that the rust would clear in a few weeks. He also insisted that the water did not smell, even though it did. Weeks later, the rust still hadn't cleared and he came out and changed the control module for the softener and again insisted that the water was fine. When, weeks later, the rust STILL wasn't clear, we called him back, and he would no longer answer phone calls. We haven't spoken with him since. We were out $2,000.00, we couldn't drink our water, couldn't cook with our water due to the rust, and didn't really want to bathe in it because we had to scrub our toilets, tub and shower every week, because they would turn orange from the rust in just a few days. We took a water sample (which Mr. Grub never did) and sent it to a water treatment company, which told us that a water softener would not remove the minerals that were in our water. We were also told to do a flow rate test, which they said was required for ANY system that back flushed, like a water softener. This test showed that the tank was bad, so if Mr Grub knew what he was doing he should have known that the tank was bad before he installed the softener. I installed a new pressure tank, a chlorine injector, and the proper water treatment system myself, in spite of the fact that I have arthritis and it was very painful, because I could no longer afford to have a plumber do it, since Mr. Grub refused to refund my money, even after I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Now our water is clear and smells fine, but we have a water softener we cannot use and cannot sell, because it is totally contaminated with rust. I would advise anyone never to use this plumber.

The work we had done by Lloyd Grub plumbing company on our plumbing issues was exceptional and done…read moreright away but we were told that an estimated of all cost would be emailed before the work was going to be started. We did not receive any estimates until a week after the work was done and only verbal approximate costs. When we received the bill, it was not itemized and we thought it was priced high. after making some phone calls to see how much parts cost we felt we were overcharged and did not understand the difference. If you use this company make sure you get everything in writing before they do any work and get a second opinion. Their work was very good, but over priced, and we were rushed into doing it. Also I asked for the watersoftner not to be hooked up and they did it anyway and charged me for it.
