The Morton Learning Center on High Street in Worthington just gave me one of the worst customer…read moreservice experiences I've ever encountered. I came in, signed up to take a class and was charged $250. In the end I decided not to take the class and called to cancel. They told me I would be refunded $200 and that the book was $50 and nonrefundable. I told them I didn't think it was fair to enact such a policy after the fact without transparency from the start. They said I'd have to come in and return the book and that if it was undamaged I could talk to someone. So I drove to the center with the book (a binder with photocopies that had been hole-punched) and dropped it off while explaining my situation once again. I was told the policy again and informed that a note would be left for the office manager, who would return my phone call in the morning. I waited until this afternoon and receiving no call, called the manager. I described who I was and tried to explain the situation: basically that no policy was stated about a non-refund and how was I to know? At first, she made the point that all books are non-refundable, which I corrected, since Barnes and Nobles does take refunds. At this point, the conversation became more about her telling me that I was in the wrong than accepting the courtesy that I was extending her. I was told that I could have been making photocopies of the information to give out and sell (nice customer service ploy, accusing your customer of being a thief, I'll have to remember that one), that I should be charged an additional $50 because the registration for the class should be non-refundable (not only do I deserve to be punished, I deserve to be punished MORE!) and that in her ten years of working there she's never had one complaint about the policy. I don't know, maybe most people would just accept paying $50 for the benefit of carrying around a binder for a week... I tried to explain that I was calling as a courtesy to let her know that steps could be made to better their explanation of policy. I tried to explain my problem wasn't the policy, it was that the policy was not stated. I tried to explain that I wasn't accusing her of trying to steal from or trick me (although she had accused me of the same not two minutes prior to that.) In the end, I was interrupted each time because: "it's not worth the headache and hassle to argue with you. I'll just refund it." Either way, I don't know about the classes, they might be the greatest thing ever. I do know that their business transparency is pretty lame and that their customer service, in my experience, was good until I encountered the office manager. It went quickly downhill after that point, as described above.

They were able to schedule us very quickly and worked with our busy schedules. The instructors were patient, kind, and knowledgeable. They took their time to make sure my son was comfortable and confident behind the wheel. They also went the extra mile to make sure I was comfortable, thanked me for trusting them with my son, and updated me on his progress after each of his drives. I couldn't be more impressed! It was fun and I felt free to get creative if I wanted. There were three other students there. This is really a unique small business. Inspiring U only teaches crafts. They don't sell craft stuff. You sign up for a very reasonably priced class, bring what is described, and you leave having learned something new.

Upper Arlington's department of Lifelong Learning (a division of the city's Parks and Recreation…read moredepartment) is a great way to explore a whole gamut of adult, self-enrichment. I currently teach armchair travel and history seminars for Lifelong Learning, but have also taken a bunch of different classes through this program, including yoga, pottery, craft and cooking classes. The instructors are reputable professors, tradespeople and professionals within their industry. Prices vary depending on how many sessions are taught for the one class. A class like pottery will meet 7 or 8 times and the cost is around $100, whereas my one-class travel or history seminars only cost about $18-$20 for a 2-hour presentation. Cost is also based on whether or not you are a resident of Upper Arlington. The difference isn't very much for non-residents, but there is a slight price break for those who live in the neighborhood. If you want to explore your artistic side, drawing, photography, oil painting, watercolors, and craft classes are among the offerings. If you prefer something more physical, choose from a variety of fitness, meditation and dance courses. Each quarter also brings random "one-off" seminars focused on topics like speed reading, local history or political issues. Classes are offered year-round and catalogues come out every quarter. The classes are open to the public and you can register on line, via telephone or the sign-up form in the catalogue, which you can request be mailed to you.

I am convinced they are running this school for profit and lack empathy and sympathy towards their students. Despite being a straight A's and B's student, the teachers at AIAM would fail me and my classmates as they pleased, without being held accountable. This teacher's actions were not only unethical, but also had a negative impact on the students' education and mental well-being. It is concerning that someone who was not cleared by their doctor to teach was still allowed to do so, putting her students at risk. The failure of the entire class is a clear indication of her incompetence as an educator. The Director of Nursing does not know how to do her job, and the school shows no concern for the success of their students. In my class, we were split into two groups and our teacher had to go back and forth between the two classes, resulting in inadequate teaching and a high failure rate. Despite this, the school would still place the blame on the students for not understanding the material when they never properly taught us. It seems like they are always looking for any reason to fail their students. This school lacks professionalism and effective communication from teachers. There is no clear curriculum and changes are made without informing or teaching the students the new methods. Students are not given the support and guidance they need to succeed. This may be due to discrimination against students of color. Additionally, when students try to address their frustration and disappointment, they are treated poorly or punished.It is not worth sacrificing your mental health, money, and time at this school. It is better to go anywhere else.
