This place is super cool. I like the vibe. It's not too small or big. We watched comedy and enjoyed meads. I like the fact that they let you sample it before you purchase it. I tried so many. There's something for everyone here and the mead will sneak up on you.

Apis is lots of fun. They have a nice selection of meads, then guest beers and cider on draft and some bottles, too. There is a bookshelf of board games and also pinball machines. The food is supplied by a food truck. The staff is helpful and welcoming. I tried their house mead and it was excellent.

Loved this space! It is located in a very convenient location in Carnegie. We were the only patrons there, but it is expected that patrons wear masks when walking around. We bought flights to get a taste of the variety of meads offered. There's an awesome patio to sit outside and enjoy the summer weather.

I really love Apis Mead. What a great addition to the little town of Carnegie! Once a ghost town, turned into a bustling stretch of small local owned shops, eateries, and this great Meadery! My favorite part about this place is the atmosphere- indoor, outdoor, fun to be had at both. Inside there are sometimes live bands, comics, or some other kind of entertainment. Outside, there are fire pits, the weekend food trucks and games to play. Laid back, modern, somewhat hipster vibe, but also down to earth. The mead is good stuff, but I suggest only having 2 max- somehow it is a bit potent! The other offerings on the drink menu are a couple local brews and a few mixed cocktails. Tonight we were lucky enough to stumble upon these wonderful frozen drinks- a tasty pina colada and a meaderita. Double thumbs up from us and we will be sure to return!

I enjoyed Apis, mostly because of the atmosphere and good time I had with my friends! The outdoor seating area is so relaxing and we went on a Saturday night when they're was live entertainment. I am not a huge mead and cider drinker, but wanted to sample the meads! I did a flight where I chose 5 different meads for $15. My favorite were the Peach Apricot and Pomegranate Rose. If you want to try something totally different, I suggest the Mango Habanero! It had an incredible kick to it and was interesting to try! I also should mention their large shelf of board games to share while enjoying the meads!

My husband and I came down here on a Carnegie Crawl night, where most restaurants and shops stay open late on the second Friday of the month. We have heard great things about it and knew there would be more going on in Carnegie than usual, so we decided to check it out! When you first walk into the building, it is dimly lit, with a few booths and high tops for seating. A long sit up bar was against one wall. The first thing I noticed was a couple sitting in a booth playing a game! I knew I liked this place already as there were several games to choose from to play with the people you come with. We walked up to the small counter and decided to each get a sampler - since my husband and I have different tastes and we wanted to try multiple flavors, this made the most sense. Plus we were able to try a total of 10 different flavors which was awesome and made it easy to eliminate which flavors we may enjoy enough to take home at the end of the evening. One of the employees to the time to describe every flavor on the menu which was very helpful when deciding what to get. I ended up enjoying the Pomegranate Rose and the Dorsata the best although I can't say I disliked any of them! The Mango Habanero stood out because it truly began with the mango flavor with a nice kick at the end - naturally one of my husband's favorites! Because it was a Carnegie Crawl night and the meadery does not serve food, we were able to order from a food truck and bring it into the building to enjoy while we sipped on our drinks and played games. A music artist was setting up in the corner although we did not stay long enough to enjoy the live music. I have no doubt we will return to this establishment in the near future.

Apis Meadery is a very interesting and unique place. The Mead is delicious, and the barkeep, Joe, was very friendly. My wife and I stopped in to sample some mead and play a few games on a Saturday afternoon after visiting a few other places in the Carnegie business district. I liked the artwork on the walls, very cool. Joe said they are moving to a new larger location soon (probably within a month or so in the new year), over near Cafe Delhi, and they hope to also add a kitchen so they can serve food. Cheers!

My husband and I stopped by while picking up or lunch from a restaurant nearby. They let us sample several different meads, even after we had decided on what we were purchasing. The server was knowledgeable and helped us try several varieties that were all very good in their own unique ways. Looking forward to going back and trying more sometime. They had simple single honey meads, as well as, gradually more complex flavor combinations. I'd be surprised if someone couldn't find something that they liked there. We didn't try any wines but I plan to do so next visit.

I love Apis Meadery. I highly recommend all of their meads and have had multiple flights of mead without disappointment. They are moving to a larger location soon, but regardless of the actual address of the Meadery, this is a cool place to chill out. They have a huge assortment of boards games you can play and also allow people to order outside food. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend Apis if you have interest in mead, beer, or wine. There is something here for most spirit drinkers.

This place is cool. The music is good. The mead is meady... they have about 20 flavors on tap and offer flights. I'm so glad we randomly decided to come here on a Thursday. More people should be here! The hopped pineapple and hopped passionfruit were my favorite. On another note, the collaboration with Spoonwood Brewing was so good that I kick myself for not buying a bottle when I had a chance. It was called something weird, like beard of bees... please make it again!

    Spirited R.

This place was decent. The meads were good. They have a high alcohol percentage compared to beer. Meads they have from dry to sweet. The atmosphere is dark and nice.

How exciting! Brand new on the main drag of Carnegie, Apis Mead and Winery brings an old art form to Pittsburghers. I'm not much of a connoisseur when it comes to Mead, but owner Dave Cerminara has made it very accessible to the average joe. Delightfully full of flavors, the six different types he had were all made available to us for tasting. There's everything from the light and refreshing summer taste of Peach Apricot to the bold Sangiovese Dorsata, which has a more powerful and rich flavor. Dave is so sincere and ready to share the process of starting this business and the fine art of mead-making. We had a lovely time just chatting. I love the aesthetic of this location, too. They have mixed rustic and contemporary to make the space warm and inviting. Plenty of places to sit and relax, and you are encouraged to bring your own food to enjoy! If you find yourself hungry and without food, Apis is located within footsteps of plenty of local fare. Rock on, Pittsburgh!

    Sampler Flight

I cannot wait to come back! Large variety of flavors, great tasting mead and awesome laid-back atmosphere. I've only had mead once before, which I fell in love with so I really wanted to try more. I read about Apis in an article and knew immediately that I had to stop here asap. The environment is really casual with a blackboard menu in the back. Its kind of like coffee shop meets a bar but not quite like a bar either; you just order at the counter and they pour it and bring it to your table. Since this was our first time here, my husband and I each ordered a Sampler Flight. There is a pre-selected flight variety and one you can create yourself, both $15 each. This is probably the best way to go so you can sample many of their flavors. Without going into the exact selections, my favorite was the Mellifera (their house mead) and my husband's favorite was the Raspberry Blackberry. The house mead is their basic mead with a strong honey flavor. The other flavors are the basic mead with extra herbs and/or fruits. They make everything in-house and you can see all the barrels in which they're stored. The atmosphere encourages you to take your time and stay a while because they have a large selection of games and books for you to play or read while you sip on your mead. I absolutely loved it here and I see myself coming here every weekend!

Flight of 5 flavors! A must-try on your first visit.

My husband and I ate one lunch here. An employee very promptly and courteously served us. Here are my ratings for what we ate: Charcuterie Nordic Board - 5 stars - We got the "Serf's Meal" for 1-2 people, but much larger boards are available. It consisted of cured meats, cheeses, fruits, vegetables with dip, dried fruits, crackers, breads, and nuts. It was our favorite food here, and I highly recommend ordering it. Gatherer Flatbread - 4.5 stars - This thin-crust pizza was topped with sauce, mozzarella, tomato, mushroom, spinach, roasted red pepper, and red onion. It was the perfect size for me to eat. Eat it promptly before it gets slightly soggy. Coastal Warmth Lobster Roll - 4.5 stars - This Connecticut lobster roll was served warm with butter. My husband liked the amount of meat and its flavor. Eat it promptly before the lobster meat gets rubbery. Drink Flight - 5 stars - A flight consists of four 3.5-ounce pours. You get to choose from dozens of dry, semi-sweet, and sweet meads, wines, and hard ciders as well as beers. They have a special if you purchase 6 bottles, then a 7th one is $3. They take your most expensive bottle and charge you $3 for that bottle. The lady that waited on us was very nice and helpful. A nice place across the street is the Allegheny Grille and a hotel across the street from the winery. Very cute place.
