I absolutely adore Love Katie & it's one of my favorite places to go when I'm home for a visit. Located just outside of Pittsburgh city limits, it's an up & coming locally owned LGBTQ+ distillery. I'm all about supporting female owned, locally owned, and of course LGBTQ+ owned! It's important to note this is the first and only LGBTQ+ owned distillery in PA! Everyone is always so nice!! Currently onsite distilling includes coffee (yep!), vodka, rum, rye, and gin. I hear they'll be expanding to bourbon soon. Woohoo! This inclusive and welcoming space boasts a romantic speakeasy vibe with modern lines and decor. The craft cocktails are beyond mind-blowing. We LOVE Love Katie! We have visited several times, and each has been better than the last. We stopped in briefly on a Friday night, and we were shocked to find there weren't more people. Everything on the cocktail menu is fantastic, and it slightly changes seasonally as well. My partner ordered a Love Potion #9, and I ordered a seasonal espresso martini. Both drinks were excellent. The espresso martini at Love Katie has a little cream, which I love. The bartenders at Love Katie are all wonderful, knowledgeable, and kind, and the space is so cute. It would be a great date spot, as they have several board games to play while you sip. read more

Just visited this cozy distillery over the weekend! My mom and I wanted to stop by and sample their fall cocktail specials (which they'd advertised at an event earlier in the month). We went on a Sunday afternoon so we were able to find street parking directly across from the distillery (no small feat in Sharpsburg). The initial bar/lounge interior was small and cozy and admittedly noisy, but signs said they had a patio so none of that deterred us. My mom ordered a Pumpkin Martini, and I ordered their Grilled Peach Whiskey Sour. Both were as delicious as they sound, I promise. The Grilled Peach Whiskey Sour was especially dangerous - with the added sweet and fruity flavors, I could barely tell that I was drinking whiskey! We also peeked at a food menu (you can order food for pickup at a restaurant within the same block), but we didn't order any food this time around. The previously mentioned patio is behind the distillery and you have to walk through the rest of the building to get to it - so past the bathrooms, past some of their equipment and work space, etc. The actual patio space is pretty cute though, and is covered; that was very appreciated on a sunny afternoon. My only regret about my visit is that we only had time to enjoy one drink (my mom and I went later in the day due to other scheduling conflicts)! The drink menu itself is massive; if it were earlier in the day I absolutely would have spent more time sampling things. I could easily see myself stopping in for early drinks and then heading to Redhawk Coffee afterward. I'll definitely be back again; this place is a delicious and delightful gem worth crossing some bridges to visit! read more

I've been twice so far now and I'll be going a couple hundred times more. This may have just taken the ranking of my favorite cocktail bar in Pittsburgh. The menu is so unique and diverse. It's very clear that there was a lot of thought put into thinking of these recipes. Not your standard drinks at all. As a cocktail bar should be. They have two menus, their seasonal menu and standard menu. It's great because that means there's always something new for me to try! For how fancy the cocktails are, it's a very casual spot. I don't have to be dressed up, you could just be yourself. The noise level is moderate, people are just there having a good time. Only a few seats at the bar but there's plenty of tables and chairs. & the service was attentive. Really can't get better than this. My only thing is that I wish it was closer to where I live so I can go every week! read more

Going to Love, Katie is an absolutely joy every single time. The staff is incredibly personable and they make amazing cocktails. The vibes are upscale and cozy without being stuffy. And the drinks are amazing - they have an extensive cocktail list but every single drink I've gotten (I got six alone last Friday) has been on the mark. This is only the third time I've been here but every visit has been fantastic thus far. This is one of my favorite cocktail bars in Pittsburgh, and for very good reason. This is such a cute bar! The staff is super nice and the ambiance is great. I love that you can order food from the Brinery next door and go pick it up and eat with your cocktails here. They have a really big cocktail menu which is really nice! There's something for everyone here and they also do really good mock tails. You can make basically any of the cocktails into a mocktail. They have such a fun martini menu and I love their glassware! My favorite drink was the blue basil martini with blueberry syrup, limoncello and vodka. It was so good! The creme brulee martini was amazing too and tasted like dessert in cocktail form. They also had a pride menu for June which had a lot of good drinks on there as well. Let me I recently had the pleasure of discovering Love, Katie Distilling, a hidden treasure nestled in the heart of Sharpsburg, and it's safe to say that this small boutique distillery is a game-changer in the spirits scene. What sets Love, Katie Distilling apart is not only the exquisite uniqueness of what they will offer from a spirit that others aren't offering in the area. Katie, the brilliant woman at the helm, is not only a masterful distiller but also a trailblazer, proudly holding the title of the first LGBT owner/distiller in Pittsburgh. The cocktails are a treat for the senses. They look beautiful, smell delightful and taste delicious. The ingredients for each of the diverse selections are local and creative with fresh herbs for garnish. They are put together by the skilled and charming Steven and Brian. They have a cocktail flight if you have trouble choosing just one. The all black and white space has a bit of a speakeasy vibe, elegant without being fussy. Fun vintage music is a great background. Classic black and white video clips are projected on the painted brick wall. Sharpsburg is a hidden gem with great art galleries, shops, food and breweries. And now it has Love, Katie! read more

The interior is very chic with black and white decor, the staff was kind and knowledgeable, and the drinks were DELICIOUS! The pumpkin martini was perfect. There were so many unique drinks on the menu and you can order food from the nearby Yosteria and they walk it right over to you at the distillery! I can't think of another time I've left a full cocktail on the table, but my partner and I both did that tonight because they tasted so bad. The first cocktail I got was fine (watermelon refresher) although it barely had any alcohol in it. It was basically just juice. My partner asked for the beer list and the waitress said "let me go check" and came back to the table and said "well what kind do you like?" Aka she couldn't remember the list and didn't take the time to write it down. So he asked for a lager and he got a light beer. The next drinks we got were the Love Cherry Terri, which tasted medicinal, and my partner got the shamrock shake. We took a sip and couldn't drink any more of them because they were so bad. You may be thinking, why didn't you tell the waitress/bartender and try to remedy the issue? Because service was incredibly slow. They were clearly understaffed - one worker was making drinks for the whole restaurant (it was full on a Saturday night) and one worker was taking orders. When you're making craft cocktails for everyone, that's too much for one bartender to keep up with. It took the waitress an hour between our drinks to come back and help us. We paid our check when we ordered the second drink, so there was no hope in getting prompt service to remedy our terrible cocktails. Overall - save your money. And most of all, your time. Really disappointing evening and we live so close and have been wanting to try this new business but we won't be back. read more
