To the Meat department and the owner of it. I've had some concerns with the meat department recently. Despite mentioning that there was a lot of bone in the meat during my last visit, I was told that the quality was satisfactory and that it was similar to previous purchases. However, when I got home, I noticed that there was barely any meat left on the cuts I received. It seems that customer feedback isn't always fully taken into account, which affects the overall quality and value. I hope the management considers inspecting the meat more carefully to ensure better quality and transparency. FYI: Before you purchase the meat take a look to make sure there proper meat on it instead of a lot of bone. read more

Accidentally left my card behind due to copious veggie bagging. They let person after me use it twice as credit, did none to fix i or stop them ;t when I came back 10-15 min after noticing my notifications ( my phone is always on silent).; held my cars but no responsibility. A lot of fruit or vegetable is often stored wrong and moldy. Going around even without a basket is a challenge. You're in everyone's way stared down even if you're still. Apna Bazar, a South Indian/Middle Eastern specialty market, is open 24 hours a day. That's quite the convenience as far as supermarkets go. I stopped in here Summer '22 for one thing only, Maggi Masala Spicy Noodles. I was introduced to South Indian Snacks and a variety of vegetarian meals, from my ex-colleague some 12+ years ago. One of many items she introduced me to was this instant and crazy cheap lunch noodle pack called Maggi Masala Spicy Noodles. The spicy, spice level and flavors had me hooked. At the time each pack cost a whopping 25c, which made for an inexpensive and hearty meal. Fast forward to the present. Noticing Apna Bazar, traveling through Hicksville. I made it a point to stop in specifically looking for Maggi. Walking in was a bit overwhelming with the multitude of products and smells. I recognized a few Indian Snacks, but was there for one thing only, which I couldn't locate. The staff was helpful guiding me to this mountain of Maggi which is obviously a popular product. I can't really commment on the other items. Other than, they appear to carry all of what you may need and the service being helpful. The negative side of this market is that it needs a serious makeover. Otherwise, if you're looking for Maggi they have an abundance. read more

This location is a little farther out than I expected but coming from Long Island going home it was right on my way. The store is large in the shelves of fully stocked but often the stock is different than the stock in other locations in Queens. I was able to find a really unique masala to cook some chicken. They also had a good selection of grains, specifically jasmine and basmati rices. read more

Just recently I've been trying to teach myself how to cook. My favorite cuisine is Indian food, so I've been trying to cook some Indian dishes. The problem is, most of them contain spices that every single supermarket in Huntington does not carry. So I needed an Indian supermarket! The closest one to me is Apna Bazar. The variety of produce is nothing short of mind blowing. And the prices are very tough to beat! Of course there's an entire aisle dedicated to spices. Christopher Columbus would have had a conniption similar to Robin Williams character in the "coffee" scene in "Moscow on the Hudson." Rice, rice, everywhere! I got brown basmati rice! And very affordable olive oil! They also sell cooking utensils if you're missing something. The one complaint I see in other reviews is the store is too crowded. Yes, it's crowded, but every Shop Rite I've been to is just as crowded as Apna Bazar if not more so. I don't consider crowding a serious issue here. If you don't like crowds it's best to go to a smaller market or a supermarket with expensive prices (*cough* Southdown *cough* Uncle Giuseppe's *cough*). Excuse me! :p Also the cashier section is just a little bit confusing. Is there one big line? No. I'm against those anyway because I think it makes shopping at the store even more difficult. There are plenty of cashiers here, and I think each one has its own line. Parking is ample! Anyway, I highly recommend Apna Bazar, even if you don't cook Indian cuisine. Love this store, they have an impressive variety of products. I generally go during weekends and its really busy with people which is annoying at times because desi's just don't have general manners. Today, I saw a man take nuts out of their plastic compartments and shove them into his pocket and then continued to eat some, my friend looked at him and he seemed unfazed. Behind him his young daughter was doing the same. What an example desi parents set for their kids!! Apna bazaar if you are reading this, please lock those nut and snack compartments or have someone guard them or something. Its so unhygienic and you are losing money also to these well to do thieves and their impressionable children. read more

I can't have cow dairy but really love sheep cheese. Goat is ok but sheep is milder and doesn't have that gaminess. I went in today expecting the typical Desi grocery fare, and checked the cheese area hoping I'd get lucky and find one sheep cheese. Well tickle me pink I found at least a dozen. I was like a kid on a charcuterie board, and didn't know where to start. I picked a few because I liked the labels (pick your cheese like you pick your wine) and the one I tried tonight is going to be a nice sub in for mozzarella on pizza. Apna Bazar is amazing! I had been waiting for this place to open once I saw it was going in the old Circuit City location. I finally made my way over here and after fighting for a parking spot, we made our way in. Maaza representatives were there handing out Mango juice, which is some of the best I have ever had. The inside was packed, just like the parking lot. The inside is huge just like I expected! Tons of variety when it comes to masala, chili powder, frozen foods, rice and dairy products. I think I bought something from each section! They also have a huge selection of roti, which is always appreciated by me. The produce department looked fresh and they also have every kind of coconut water that your heart desires. Can't wait to come back. read more

Don't buy meat from Apna Bazaar meat Dept.. first of all it's a separate business inside Apna Bazaar, Secondly the meat is not fresh, if you smell the meat that is package in the refrigerator " It's rotten and stinks". I have been going mostly to a different Indian grocery store nearby, Patel Brothers. Had a chance to explore this store for about an hour (how jobless am I?) and I'm impressed by their inventory. The narrow and dirty aisles coupled with messy display of products on shelves can make for a nightmare grocery shopping experience but you cannot deny their impressive collection of a variety of ethnic foods from the Asian subcontinent. Pretty much happened upon this great market by accident. Upon being lost in the area, we pulled into their lot to check GPS and turn around and well...Decided to go in and check it out! A decision we definitely did NOT regret!! If you prize fresh veggies and fruits? this is the place! Great prices, good quality and variety plus you get to avoid the crowds you'd find in flushing. It has a large parking lot so you'll definitely get a spot and the aisles aren't overly crowded AND you dont get shoved around while making selections (a PLUS in my book!). Checkout is a bit chaotic but just keep your eyes peeled for an open register and just go for it. Awesome find!! We are totally going back. This place is a giant Indian supermarket. Great selection of rice and spices. Produce selection was very good and the prices were very good. Wide selection of different types of naan breads to choose from. I wish I noticed the samosa's when I walked in, instead of after checking out. They looked good. Real good. I'll be back to try them. The only reason I didn't go 5 on the rating is the employees stocking the shelves. They make no attempt to stay to one side of the aisle to let you shop. Rather hectic south Asian grocery store in Hicksville which has a very wide variety of produce and Desi items. The layout is fine but it's very crowded and hard to move around which was my biggest complaint. Check out at the registers is painfully slow as well. Prices seemed reasonable for what I bought and the quality was decent. Not my favorite ethnic grocery store but if you're looking for something specific, chances are you'll find it here. read more

I was excited to go to Apna Bazzar but was so disappointed. They do have a nice variety but there are no prices on anything, no help available, people are all over place. Some of the items are very overpriced. It was chaotic shopping in here and I felt like it was a big mess. There's another location in Queens that is at least better organized. read more

I'm always impressed with the fresh.vegetables. Very clean and lots to shop for. Food items from around the glove in addition to cooking utensils such as pots, spoons, rolling pins and tons more. There are two concerns I have. Meat is very expensive. And the don't deliver in my neighborhood. I hope that will start soon. read more

We have been going to this place for years. We usually get a whole goat cut in pieces. Each time we have felt that something was wrong and whether they have given us all of the meat. We stood there one day waiting to be served, an old lady bought a small pack of meat. She told the guy that she also wanted a pack of bones but she said that it was too expensive. The guy rang her up, gave her a bill for almost $70 and told her that the bones were free. It was not. I could not believe it. This last time we again bought a whole goat only to discover that we absolutely did not get all of it, instead there was a very well packed bag of a variety of meat fat scraps. We have to drive a distance to get to this place so upon discovering the bag of fat scraps we called first to speak to the guy before taking the trip. He told us to take a picture so he can resolve the problem. We took pictures but also decided to bring the whole bag of fat scraps. When we got there he said that the fat scraps came off of our goat and that sometimes that happens. He also said that it is good and taste better when fried and some customers want that. Essentially he had enough time to make up a lie. As I said we have been getting our meat from him for years and a baby goat does not look like that. Then I remembered what he did to the old lady. He lies with a straight face. VERY DISHONEST. He is a separate business from the actual store but he is making them look bad. They just lost customers. read more

This is a great grocery store. It has many middle eastern spices, veggies, dairy, and many more. It almost took me an hour just walking up and down the aisles. You cannot help yourself from looking up and down and looking at all these packages of food. They have an awesome frozen section. The prices of fresh veggies were the same you would find at Meat Farms. This is better then Patel Brothers down the road. read more

I come here to buy 3 things. Dried chickpeas (in packaging), dates (in packaging), and golden raisins (also in packaging!). I would not buy anything here that is supposed to be considered "fresh"--and if you value your health, don't touch the bulk bins at the front. On my most recent visit (4/26/19), an old woman had her un-gloved hands rooting around in one of the bins as she COUGHED loudly INTO said bin. And no one says anything! Also, there is lack of pricing on pretty much everything which just adds to the frustration. I try to get in and out as quickly as possible. If not for my beloved chickpeas, I'm not sure if I would waste my time. read more

You would think that after having been through what we have here in NY during a raging pandemic, that Apna Bazaar would require employees to wear masks at all times and enforce it. My husband went the other day and got a picture of an employee in their meat department with his mask completely down. They've lost my business and respect forever. Maharaja Market down the road is a MUCH better option. read more
