The prices are good compared to other stores. The paths to go through with your shopping cart is really narrow and you get stuck at one point because everybody is trying to get trough. I leave my cart at the rice area to get my stuff at the grocery section. The grocery that falls on the floor is trash guys don't put it back to sell it that is just gross. read more

Twice came home to find half and half cream soured, yet the dates were not expired. Obviously Apna is not storing these products properly, before shelving them. The gal. milks have not been a problem. Keeping fruits and veggies out in the hot sun , at the front of the store, during summer, causes them to ripen and rot quickly. Often those products are rotting on the inside so you don't realize it until you cut it open. As they say, "Cheap is dear in the end." Or, you get what you pay for. Very good selection, even Persian items. But, you MUST check all items carefully.. packaged as well as fresh. Also, watch where you walk. Fruits and vegs not always cleaned up promptly when fallen on the floor from unpacking or uncaring customers. The cashiers are friendly in general and prompt. Apna bazar is your typical brown grocery store, full of fresh, cheap produce and herbal supplies that will not break the bank! I wouldn't suggest getting anything non indian (i.e. Cereal, soda etc) as it's twice the price but everything else is dirt cheap! People completely ignore do not enter signs in the parking lot so beware! I found this store dirty. Some people that worked there were more helpful than others. They have loose nuts when you first walk in and I observed customers sticking their hands in and helping themselves. Disgusting. No bags or instructions on how to bag them and when I asked a clerk if there were specific bags you were supposed to use he just stared at me like he didn't understand what I was asking. The guys cleaning aka sweeping the floor pushed right past you like you weren't there. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I've been to better cleaner stores than this. Yaaay, clean, friendly, and bountiful store! I would compare it to H&Y Korean store and Patel Brothers. I don't want to say which one is better, everyone will decide for themselves, however, the price is great here so... and I found everything I'd need for my daily consumption. It is also way less chaotic than John's Farms too. I went in on a Sunday when I'm guessing if I had headed over to John's Farms I would have been frustrated in agony over their parking lot before I tried to claw through their overcrowded lanes. ;) They provide Pan-Asian goods (Southeast Asian & Chinese), along with your grocery/farmers items (it's not some small Indian grocery). I went here because I've heard so much about it from the other Apna in Jackson Heights. It sure was big, but a big more stagnant. They have a ton of variety, and some good sales. I'm glad I at least went there once. Today they had a liter of mango juice for 1.49. I didn't get it, but I thought that was noteworthy. read more

Whoa. Did my first Apna run today and I was bowled over by the selection, organization, and prices. Huge honey tangerines, 3/$1. Basmati, 69 cents a pound; I don't think I paid more than $1.25/lb for any pulse, and I was buying small packages. Beautifully clean and organized - one worker was making the pulse aisle photo-perfect. Four different types of eggplant! And the produce was both cheap and gorgeous. When we moved to Long Island from Waltham, MA I was homesick for the two Indian markets just a few blocks from our door, but (except for takeaway, of which there seemed to be none) Apna is so far above them I am happy at last. read more

Worth the drive from Glen Cove. I don't know how they keep the prices so low on their produce, the selection is great and there is always someone constantly restocking their inventory. I try to shop here at least twice a month-it saves me a lot of $ compared to the chain grocery stores! read more

I only stop in here if I need something quick but I noticed today before they were open that their parking lot is an absolute disaster with their shopping carts all over the place and used food garbage/packaging on the ground (presumably from the food truck). What food store doesn't bring in their carts and pick up trash? Makes me question the cleanliness inside as well. That said, no matter how busy they are, there's never a long wait to check out and the cashiers are quick and friendly. read more

Love this place. I am not too far away and always find their produce to be better and cheaper than most places, including Shoprite. The cashiers are always very friendly and welcoming. Apna has great prices on nuts in bulk. Lemon Almonds, cashews, walnuts, fruit/nut mix, very nice selection at the front of the store HOWEVER, (I have seen this on 3 separate occasions) Customers come in , walk up to the nuts, open the canister lid, reach in with bare hands to openly sample the product. I saw one lady walk in, grab a handful of walnuts and walk out. There are not enough clean scoops available, I'm sure managment is aware of this, I don't think it only happens when I'm there, and they let it happen. Only a matter of time before somebody gets sick and Dept, of Health steps in. Too bad because I like this store. Produce section is awesome. read more

Love this place. My sis and I were at Ikea and we saw Apna. We didn't know what it was and was curious and thought it might be a place we can get cheap long island corn. We went there and saw many south asians in the parking lot so we concluded it was a south asian market. When we entered, the veggies were very reasonable. Amazing cilantro (1.29), Parsley (.50/ea), Fresh okra (1.29/lb), fresh green beans, (.99/lb), and fresh yellow melon (.99 each). I also got my Patak's sauce bases for reasonable cost (2.99) as opposed to (4.00-5.00) in the city. Overall I was impressed by their inventory. Very clean, well managed, and the prices are reasonable. Additionally the popularity of the place clearly shows that this is THE market to go. read more

Be careful of buying stuff from freezer. Went on Sunday 2/1/15 and all the fish was thawed in the freezer section and complained to the manager. Then again went on Thursday 2/5/15 and the same thing fish was thawed, so please be careful.. I think even after fixing the freezer they are going to sell that fish to the customers. read more

We like this store. The selection is vast. We got some Diwali decorations for the home as well. We were looking for Vatika shampoo which they did not have. However, besides that they had a super selection of all kinds of groceries including fruits and veggies, fresh and frozen groceries. Will be back. I can't believe people on here are going to rate a bad review about a STORE ?, get a life ! So I have to step up and say. What a great produce store FRESH SELECTION and I am not even close to being Indian or from Pakistan. I fill up a shopping cart full of fruits and vegetables and when I check out. The $$ amount is always UNDER 30 bucks, at times in that 25 buck range. So keep on shopping at Johns farms on Old Country Road then when you are stilling looking for something cheaper try Apna Bazar. read more

This place has everything you've ever heard of and about a million MORE things you have never heard of. (Except meat - there is no butcher) My sister is on an international recipe streak and we've been having Sunday dinners from the eastern hemisphere. We have found every single ingredient here. This store is clean, the produce takes up most of the store and is all fresh, beautiful and kept up. The people working here are so very helpful, as are most of the customers too ! Prices are fair. Great Iniad store, with a wide selection. The freezer section is huge. But i did have one bda expeirence... I have been waiting all year for Jack Fruit to come in... i was so excited to bring it home and eat it when I saw it last week. This is my go to grocery place to buy indian veggies and produce. There are a lot of items and with the right amount of patience you can leave the place with your heart's content at shopping. Was highly impressed when i found this place selling banana leaves during important indian festivals. And about the cleanliness of this place, there is nothing much to complain when you see people who walk-in throwing veggies and produce down and not show the slightest sign of regret. They do their best to clean up the place but it's also to do with the attitude of the shoppers i feel. Highly recommend this place for shopping indian groceries. read more

Guys: Be careful while buying any product fro this Grocery store. Be it Atta, Rice, Dals and Pulses, Almonds, Cashews, Kishmish. Every thing has (Ghun) (black small kidas or whit sundis) as we call in Hindi. Twice we brought Laxmi Atta, which was full of ghuns and sundis. Third time, bought Golden temple which also has the same kidas. Almonds are full of kidas. Kishmish is full of kidas. The milk, they change the sticker with new date. Same day my friend and myself brought milk from Apna Bazaar, The exp date was 9/20/18. My milk gallon was sour on 17th whereas my friends milk gallon was ok till Aug 20th When we spoke to one of the workers there, he said to quietly return the things and he will give a new one. New ONe? from the same place. The owner has lowered the standard to the things so much. Again warning you . Check , check before you buy anything from this Apna Bazaar. All the stuff is contaminated with kidas. I am surprised, as to why no one else noticed it. Hi over all this is better place than any other place in this area. But they charged twice on my credit card so I am not sure they did mistake or what? I went on the Opening day of the store so I think due to rush they might make mistake but BE CAREFUL !!! I will say please check your credit card statement if you buy from here. Parking here is a demolition derby, everyone pushes each other out of the way. Also the line here is a mess, the prices for some items are cheap, but you got to watch expiration dates. These days the fruit and veggies here are rotten, almost the stage where you need to throw it away. Nasty. Used to be an ok store to get some items at cheap prices. read more
